anyone remember the fun mini game in heimdall where you had to throw axes to cut the barmaid's pigtails without chopping her head of? made even harder by the fact you are drunk and your cursor wobbles?
me and my m8's used to play and reboot heimdall on the amiga just to play that part :)
anyway i came across the pc version yesterday and i found that the axe throwing bit was a seperate .exe so ive uploaded it to the zone for anyone whos interested. only 126k zipped
run it in fullscreen dos mode.
enjoy :D

Yeah the subgames were seperate in the PC version. But as far as I recall they loaded the game automatically didn't they?

Amiga Action released a cover disk with this part as a demo. I'm not sure if I still have disk (might've formatted it :( ), but it might be on the Aminet somewhere.

I could've sworn I saw some coverdisks on the Aminet at one point or another...
In any case, I'm sure there's someone out there who's made it available on some website.

Hi,
Where is "the zone"? Im newe here, its probably right in front of me somewhere but im not seeing it...
I loved this game but i could only ever get part way through the pig catching section before the game crashed and it would ALWAYS crash at the exact same spot on both my A500+ (both 1.3 and 2.04 kickstarts) and my A1200. Never did work out the problem.. probably a damaged disk.

You will find the Zone by clicking on the button on the top right of the screen/page. Since you are new here, you may want to read the rules and all of that, which can be found in the Amiga FAQ, tutorials & EAB's rules (http://eab.abime.net/forumdisplay.php?forumid=30).

Sega CD version of Heimdall have different intro (but by the same artist, some original scenes are used too). Biggest change is the music (sample here http://www.wrzuta.pl/audio/vCPR5wrz0u/ and in the Zone).

What have they done to the cool Heimdall music :crying This pathetic guitar riff is so awful :sad Now I know why I can't remember the MegaCD intro...

Cool Flash game... I guess it wasn't quite as exciting as I remember though - lol!
I'm surprised that no-one has brought up the original "bloody" version of when your axe accidentally hit the girl. It was either a shame or a good thing that it was cut, depending on which issue of Amiga Power you were reading.

Huh, there was a bloody version if this mini-game in Heimdall? :)... any pics around?..... she gets hit by the axe?
Well, the versions I've played only have her head pulled back when the axe is comming towards her... too bad :evilgrin

Let us know if you discover it, or approximately when it was released, I fancy a go at it.
I assume I'm not the only one that remembers the excellent scene in "The Vikings" that inspired this pat of the game?

Sounds better with that Kirk Douglas drawl. :)

Here's the aforementioned picture of the preview version (Taken from Amiga Computing issue #43):

And here's the later demo from Amiga Action (unfortunately the censored final version) - http://www.ilovecubus.co.uk/pete/aa20.zip (type AXE at the command prompt)

Thanks for that - I've just popped a quick and dirty WHDLoad installation of the demo into the Zone.

I'm surprised no version of this exists, I guess they took it out pretty early on.

Is it the same pic as in the Amiga Computing preview or slightly different?
I must say I'm pleasantly surprised to discover Core originally intended to take things down the gory path with this simple little game! We should track down one of the original programmers and ask them if they were pressurized into toning the content down for the market...
I remember show on Sky One from early nineties, there were reviews, gaming competitions, young people played Pilotwings, SF2, Sonic, and this sub/mini game.
