Greetings! I am a newbie to using WHDLoad and I have had great success so far, but I have run into my first problem with Rocket Ranger. It starts to boot and shows the WHD splash screen, then after that the screen goes to Blue and has the command line that looks like it's amiga dos. Has anyone had this problem? It's the latest 1.5 install of Rocket Ranger and I am a registered WHDLoad user. I'm using an Amiga 1200 with Kickstart 3.1 and 8 megs of total ram. Thanks for the help!

Welcom on EAB, cleland909. Try the preinstalled version. :)

Thanks, but I think I was. I got it from http://kgwhd.whdownload.com/index.php
I have the same problem with 1.4 or 1.5.

Well he's using the preinstalled version from KG's packs so I guess it should be okay.

Yeah they are the pre installed versions from KG's packs on my real Amiga 1200. I'm kind of lost because no other Cinemaware games do it. But now I'm wondering if I might need the 1.2 files in my "devs/kickstarts" drawer. I only have the 1.3 sets. Maybe I'll give that a try and let ya know. Thanks for answering though.

You need this Kickstart version, it's a 256KB rom dump. There are some overdumped 512KB roms, they don't work properly.

Thanks Retro-Nerd, know where I can get it? I have the Amiga Forever DVD set, is it on there?

I don't have the AF DVD, check the folders.

Thanks Retro, I loaded em', but I still get the Amiga Dos Release 1.3 prompt.
Funny thing is if I hit Tab, I get the codes and "*" will quit. Is there something I can type at the dos promt? This is strange...

Just tried KG preinstalled version on my real A1200 with and it works fine. I have no clue what's wrong on your side. What happens when you enter RR at the Dos promt?

"RR" doesn't do anything but give me another command line. I'm going to give it a try in UAE and see what happens. I'm using Bloodwych's Full Install of Classic Workbench if that means anything.

Bloodwych uses Scalos as a Workbench replacement for all his ClassicWB packs, except for the LITE version which i use. Maybe a Scalos bug, who knows.

I've tested in WinUAE with ClassicWB FULL with no probs...

Maybe you have problems with your memory expansion. You can try to set the global NoMemReverse (http://whdload.de/docs/en/opt.html#NoMemReverse) switch in s:whdload.prefs?

Well I tested it last night in UAE with the same Classic WB Full install I used in the 1200 and it works fine, so it's not Copper. I removed my PCMCIA Compact Flash adapter because I thought that might be it, but it's not. What do I write for No Flush Memory? Right now it says: ";do not flush memory"
Thanks for the help, I'm determined to figure this out.. Funny thing is Rocket Ranger was the main game I got WHD Load for. Hehe, oh well I have hundred of other games to keep me busy.

I meant NoMemReverse, not NoFlushMem. Open WHDLoad.prefs with an editor and remove the ";", it's worth a try.
