Hello,

- Could you describe here the model of the ADSL modem you use for internet, with your amiga and can be used with success with an amiga browser (for the ADSL settings -ADSL modem admin-pages) with an amiga browser) ???

I would like to see other amiga users add useful informations here on the following list, for helping the choice for a new amiga user, for internet.

MODEM/ROUTER or ROUTER:

-Alcatel SpeedTouch 5x6 = OK (100% with IBrowse).
-BEWAN ADSL600 = OK (Ibrowse)(90%:Opening ports page not work).

-DLINK DI 604 = NO
-DLINK DL 604 = OK ( AWEB 3.5.09)
-DLINK DI 804 = OK (OS4/IBrowse).
-DLINK DSL G604T wireless router = OK (with programs like Miami, MiamiDX & Genesis and all internet programs: AmiRSS, AmiPod, IRC, Browser & email). (worked fine with a wireless PCMCIA card).

-LINKSYS WTR100 wireless router = Mostly NO (Page display:rendering errors, require javascript).
-LINKSYS WET54G (WLAN Ethernet Bridge) = Mostly NO (Page display:rendering errors, requires javascript).
-LINKSYS WRT54GC (WLAN Router) = Mostly NO (Page display:rendering errors, requires javascript).

-NETGEAR DG824M0 = OK (Ibrowse)(strange colours due its use of CSS unsupported by IB).
-NETGEAR DG834 = OK (Ibrowse).
-NETGEAR DG834G= OK (Ibrowse).
-NETGEAR DG834GT= OK (Ibrowse). works everything BUT the firmware upgrade option (broken pipe error).
-NETGEAR RP614v3 = OK.

-OLITEC SX200 = OK (Ibrowse).
-OLITEC SX202 = OK (Ibrowse).

-Efficient Networks SpeedStream 5200 = OK (Ibrowse)
-Netopia 3366 = (telnet such as MiamiTelnet)

In case you want to change your ADSL modem because new speed available on your home, for example, this maybe big database will be usefull.

Modem or router used is irrelevant. Just keep attention if it is configured as dhcp or manual. The only concern about compatibility is in the Amiga side, where couldbe tricky to get a compatible card.
If you need help just ask.
BTW, are you using pcmcia on your Amiga, or pci card?

perhaps he means browsing the actual webpages hardcoded in the modem itself? probably some scripting incompatiabilities or java shortcomings?

I always found though even if IBrowse does get stuck you can figure out the url yourself if you know what to look for in html or whatnot...

otherwise this interesting concept it totally that :D

hello,

I ask to users with an amiga, with ADSL modem, and who manage the admin settings (thx bernd) of the ADSL modem they use with an amiga browsers, to answer me if that work OK for them or not.

I simply cut'n'paste the answer and increase the list based of the answers (simple or fully detailed)

I have just simply NO to: work everything (netgear DG834GT) depending of the time the user have played with his ADSL modem admin-settings (all pages after http:192.168.1.1 -login/password- or related) with an amiga browser, like Ibrowse,a web, voyager,sputnik,MOS/AOS4/AOS3.X).

Hope if someone just said YES or OK, he have opened most of the admin page of his ADSL modem and played a little or more with the admin settings ???.

I could say now for an amiga only user:

- netgear, olitec, dlink, spedtouch work (maybe the best netgear) but not linksys at all.

- Most users have Netgear (available on lots of countries apparently).

Slayer understand the question. Sorry if my english was not good on this thread.

Yep netgear is cheapest tat around, with a bad reputation for customer support. DG384 should be ok now, as it has had a few updated firmware since release. I read it is now also adsl+2 compitable. Shame my dg834 psu failed in its first year, as said cheap tat, or just bad psu's they supply.
