EAB/Lemon Super League 2008: Round 3 Game Vote (Special round - PD Games)
You can find the full rules here (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=33736), but briefly:
- The voting for Round 3 starts now and will end at 11:59pm UK time on Saturday, February 23. Round 3 will start on Sunday, March 2.
- Vote for 5 games.
- This is the vote for the first special round of the season. When voting you can only choose games that are listed as either Public Domain, Freeware, Shareware, Coverdisk full games, Promotional, or even hidden games. Basically anything considered non-commercial. The two games with the most votes will be played. If you are in doubt about a games status, ask in the thread before you vote, or contact a Moderator. It will be sorted out before the end of voting.
- Your first choice gets 5 points, second 4pts, third 3pts, fourth 2pts, fifth 1pt.
- Edited votes will de discounted (unless you are told to edit it, and even then you can only edit the game(s) that aren't suitable) - so think before you post.
- Please only vote on one board - either EAB or Lemon. You can only vote once, and also it could cause confusion if you post your vote on both boards - it's easy for it to be counted twice by accident.
- If you want to see what the Lemon lot are voting for click here (http://www.lemonamiga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4855).
Anyone is welcome to vote, play and chat at any time. May voting commence...

Oh, I haven't noticed this. I edited my votes and now there should be titles which are in the rules.

My Bad :) Changing it to Gravity Power (AP Coverdisk).
That doesn't work either - it's a two-player only game and no suitable scoring system ;)
Oh and what is Fnurr2000, I'm curious ;)

Damn. That'll teach me not to vote after a night's drinking ;)
Tetris Pro /me double checks the HOL entry... fingers crossed
Fnurr2000 is a game by the same guy who did BabeAnoid (two votes already -- great arkanoid clone!) and perfect for a competition like this one. You basicly have to manoeuvre your pink pixel to avoid crashing into 30 or so white pixels forcing them to collide and earn points. Dead simple, intense, cool scoring system, ideal for a quicke and most of all FUN!

Can anyone point me to an adf of Fnurr2000 please? I wanna give it a try.

I hope this doesn't get through as it'll take half the round just to write the thread title...

if i'd said it's alternative title 'space invaders 2' i'd probably have had people asking "which one?!" etc. etc

Cheers. Like it, maybe would have voted for it. I get the feeling I could build quite a score before getting into serious trouble. It's a little like being a magnet surrounded by killer iron filings.

So we can't vote for licenceware as in Megaball 4 or Paradox???
Graham Humphrey
13 February 2008, 22:08
Never thought of that - it should be okay, I'll just see if Biscuit agrees though...
Biscuit
14 February 2008, 00:44
Fine by me. I couldn't remember all the ...wares, so it fits under non-commercial. As does charityware, giftware, kitchenware yadda yadda.

14 February 2008, 00:51
:great In that case.
1. Megaball 4 (c'mon peeps, this is a great arkanoid clone)

If I counted correctly it's currently a tie between Deluxe Galaga and Jump 'n Roll (both have 18 points).
What happens if it stays that way?
Graham Humphrey
19 February 2008, 18:10
Well as this is a special round two games will be played so nothing out of the ordinary will happen.
However, for normal rounds, it would be decided by what game has the higher number of first place votes, failing that it will be by the number of second place votes and so on. If it is a dead heat after that, then there will be a poll created where you pick what game you would rather play. And if that's still equal, I scream loudly and go on a murderous rampage ;)

I'm going to abstain from voting.. I had some kind of strange bias against PD games back in the day (and being from the US, cover disks seemed few and far between). I think I only actually played Galaga and that Star Trek game (which wouldn't be applicable). Also, in hopes I'm enlightened to some new gem, I'm hoping Galaga doesn't win. (though... considering the names of some of these games.. I'm not really holding my breath :) )
Graham Humphrey
19 February 2008, 19:59
Don't let the names put you off though - some of these games are absolute gems. I don't really want Galaga to win as I've played it too much and it eats up my entire life when I do load it up ;)

20 February 2008, 00:33
Yus! no galaga ¬___¬ Get with q-bic or mr wobberly legs Vs the invaders from space! they are both awesome and fun. While q-bic can get annoying on later levels
I just realised that revenge of the mutant camels isnt a good idea because its not totally difficuly to max you score....and i cant remember what happens after that...it might reset...or more likely just stay maxed! cant think of game to replace it though...I know
*edit votes
Graham Humphrey
20 February 2008, 00:38
Cheers for the info on that, obviously not suitable.
Er, what did you replace it with and I hope you kept the other games in their same positions, as you are meant to ;)
RickyC
21 February 2008, 00:19
i took the camel game from no 1 and placed Zombie Apocalypse II in 5th. So everything got moved up one.
Uhh i might have switched pod and q-bic round...cant remember...i dont pay attention much...
Graham Humphrey
21 February 2008, 00:29
Doesn't matter now ;)
Just for everyone's benefit: if this situation happens again please only change the game that needs to be changed and leave the rest well alone as it can be a nightmare changing the games' scores.
To be fair it's not a rule that's very clear so next round I will rectify that ;)
RickyC
21 February 2008, 01:39
well i dont know why i assumed everyone would know what the new game was. Maybe because my games are like the best and everyone should remember D:
Wel looks like my fav games didnt win again -___-

23 February 2008, 10:32
Is there a difference between Deluxe Galaga and Deluxe GalAGA?
Graham Humphrey
23 February 2008, 10:47
I don't think there is but I would like someone to confirm that ;)
No idea if there is a difference between Deluxe Pacman's ECS and AGA versions...
Graham Humphrey
24 February 2008, 01:05
That's it, and a very very close vote for this one...
1. Deluxe Pacman - 25
2. Jump 'n' Roll - 24
3. Deluxe Galaga - 24
4. Super Obliteration - 20
5. Pod - 18
So hilariously, Deluxe Galaga misses out as Jump 'n' Roll had more first-place votes. Curiously, Deluxe Pacman topped the vote despite no-one voting for it as their first choice...
