View Full Version : Fault: Lemmings 2 Disk

this might be caused by an unsupported IPF or something, or might just be a fault in the slave... dunno.
anyway, been playing Lemmings online tonight, using KG's pre-installed 2 disk version, and 3 times the game froze up... music carried on, but the lemmings stopped. (twice on level 2, once on level 4)
I dont think it's caused by winuae-kaillera, as it wasnt a lag-type error, and afterwards
oh no more lemmings was played for ages, and that was fine.
just thought i should mention it.

WinUAE 0.8.22, Release 1; Kaillera Client 0.9 (http://kaillera.abime.net/wip.php)
token link to it for you. just thought it was odd since 'Oh no!' played fine. usually if something in incompatibile, it fails spectacularly, rather than like this.

only thing i could think you could do is use the verison i have, and / or test the 2 player mode on new winuae, see if it happens there. i will let you know if it happens on 1 disk version.

this DID reoccur with the one disk version
i installed it with the JST and it hasnt happened at all. From reading JOTDs docs, it seems the protection is very strong - perhaps this is just a result of the slave needing some further tweeks? has anyone ever really tested the 2 player mode? it seems to occur almost every other level when the whdload slave is used.

You need to contact Psygore about the WHDLoad version.

will do, but would like to sure its a slave not emulator / other fault first

This issue is still occurring. Exact same symptoms. The music continues but the graphics freeze up.
Using WHDload 16.9 and WinUAE 2.01 public beta 0 (2009.12.17)

Thread necromancy!
Same happens with all my HD-equipped Amigas: A500 (1+4Mb, WB2.1), A2000 (1+12Mb 030, OS3.9 or 3.1), A600 (2+1Mb, OS3.1) and A1200 (2+128Mb 060, OS3.9).
The game goes well and suddenly freezes on some point (level 8 up to 14), even on single player mode.
Updating JST will cure the problem?

i still think a comparrison between the JST code and the WHD slave code would be a good idea (perhaps something is missed on the WHD)

Atm, the slave supports only 2 disks versions SPS #901,2089,2238 (it should work without any prob) and 1 disk version #270 (but protection check fails, versions #132,1977 too).
For info:
- '1 disk' version doesn't contain the special levels (awesome, beast1&2 and menace) data sound/gfx are removed.
- #2238 has 2 differents levels (ie. 'Something weighting on your mind?' instead of 'Walk to the web rope')

I can confirm this.
I am using the 2 disk version from whdownload I thought I would have a blast on fun mode... I had got to about the 10th level and it froze up solid with the music continuing and pressing F10 to exit worked.
I'm running an A1200 with Blizzard VI 64MB and a very basic WB3.1 install.
Is it because I didn't use original disks to install? I thought whdownload already did?
Thanks. :cheese

If you downloaded from WHDownload.com then you don't need to install it yourself... in fact you can't. Anyway, it seems there is still a bug in the slave itself. Has WHDLoad created a crash dump?

It's because of a protection check, the slave doesn't support all versions of Lemmings, see Psygore's post above.
Has WHDLoad created a crash dump?
Mick already answered that question:

Which means: no.

Where would it be located? I can check just to be certain but I did exit normally.

Would be probably in c: by default, but only if whdload really crash.

I can confirm that there is definitely nothing in c: and that's where I have WHDLoad installed to.
