Hi, everyone..

I was wondering if anyone had the drivers for the Xspecs from Haitex, or know where I could go get them? I bought some used ones off Ebay but for some reason the disk arrived crushed (no idea). I don't even know if the glasses work anymore of course.

Thanks in advance for any leads :-)

Hmm Well, never mind! I found it. It's called xspecs.library and I found it at http://ftp.fi.netbsd.org/pub/amiga/system/libraries/?C=M;O=A

I have this floppy disk somewhere, if it is still good.

Play a few games that support the Haitex virtual reality glasses.

@Pyromania: Do you still have these disks? I'm searching for the game SpaceSpuds, that was delivered on these disks. I would like to try out the game together with my i-glasses. The freeware-games Raiders and Lander work with the i-glasses so far.

The software that came with the glasses as I recall also includes a program that will allow you to combine a pair of appropriate images into a stereo image that you can view with the glasses. I used to play around with capturing still images from videos using a FrameGrabber, and then combining those. For example, if I took a couple of frames from a video showing the U.S.S. Enterprise moving across the screeen from one side to the other and combined those, I could end up with a reasonably good 3D shot of the ship. You can do the same thing with quite a few other bits of video where the background is pretty much static, and any objects that move from one frame to the next all move in the same direction between those 2 frames. If you have people in the shot and their arms/legs are positioned differently in each frame then the result is kind of a mess though. Other bits of video that can work well are those where the camera slowly pans from left to right (or vice-versa) around a stationary subject without changing the zoom. If you can convert a pair of images taken with a digital camera, you can also use it to shoot your own images to create stereo pairs from.

Used to have those..
I remember there was a demo of a spinning cube I think...
If I held my hand under it at the right angle (not breaking into the 3D), it looked like the cube was hovering over my hand..

I know, lame, but it was very kual at the time...

And...

Buy.. Space Spuds!!!
(When you play the game, you'll know what that is..)

p.s. I have a few pairs of 3D glasses here. Not Haitex. 1 PC and 1 homebrew Vectrex. They are both LCD 3D glasses.. I wonder how easy/hard it would be to make an interface for standard (???) 3D shutters to the Amiga to work with the xspecs driver?

@Chuckles: I would create my own pictures if I can find such software for the Amiga. Do you still own you work from the past or is everything lost? Would be cool to try it out with the i-glasses.

@desiv: I found a pictures of such a cube(see attachment) and I would buy SpaceSpuds if I could find it. Would be cool to get a copy of that game anyway. Only PC software was delivered with i-glasses. :(

Nice pic.. I can't remember now if the one in the XSpecs demo was just wireframe? Been too long..

As for the "Buy Space Spuds" bit..
When you're playing the game, the little video screen would sometimes pop up with an "ad".. It was a girl on the screen saying "Buy Space Spuds!"..

Some things, you never forget..

.. :sad

Not sure why.. I could have remembered something important, like geometry.. But nope.. In my brain, is the phrase.. "Buy Space Spuds!"

Well, that and. "Wa Wa Wa Wa Wa Wild Copper.. I love you."

:spin :crazy

It was 2 cubes, and they were wireframe.. :-) How do I now know?

Well, if you google for this:
amiga space spuds qtx

You might find out...

I need to make an interface for my Amiga to some LCD shutters now..

I'm sure I have the stuff I did around somewhere, though it might take a while to find it. I'll try to locate it when I get a chance, and will post it to the Zone. In the meantime, I seem to have a gzipped adf here of Space Spuds, which I've uploaded to the Zone for anyone that wants it.

For anyone that has the glasses but not the disk that came with it, that disk would be useful. It has the software that I referred to that would allow you to create stereo images from a pair of suitable pictures.

@desiv: Thanks. I found the disk via google. There is also a programm called D3D on the disk which is usefull to create and view such pictures. I played a little bit with that program and here is my first stereoscopic picture:

@Chuckles: Thanks for upload. Would be great to have a look to the other stuff too. BTW it's a different format between the pictures created with D3D and the picture-format of the cube I uploaded before. For the cube I don't need a programm to display that stereoscopic picture on i-glasses. Do you know a programm for Amiga which is able to create such pictures like the cube?

Furthermore I was not able to watch stereoscopic movies with PeggyPlus on A4000 or FMV-card on CD32. I heared about a program called AmiVR, but was not able to get a copy of that program to try it out. Does anybody know if I can watch stereoscopic mpeg-movies with that program on Commodore Amiga? Does it the same like StereoscopicPlayer for Windows?

Any help where I can find the program AmiVR or the MegaClasX-CDRom? Is there any other program available to play stereoscopic mpeg-movies(Field Sequential 3D format) on Commodore Amiga?
Thank you.

I have a set of these xpecs. Any mainstream (not the ones on BBOAH) games use them?
