I was just now (finally!) going through some DMS files I got here at EAB that were responses to my MIA listing. I had on my list a game called Track Suit Manager '91, which I'm not even sure where I got the game name from, but I'm sure I had a reasonable assurance it exists. And my database doesn't have that title, but it has Track Manager '90...?!?!
At any rate, two games that were posted were tracksuitmanager.dms and tracksuitmanager2.dms. I think these are maybe both already in TOSEC, but I was looking at them anyway and noticed how totally similar they are. It appears to be an assumption that there is two different games called Track Suit Manager 2 - one from Goliath Games/Again Again and the other from Alternative. But I smell a fake. So I loaded both disks up in Directory Opus to have a look and they are amazingly identical. The only difference in the two is that the alleged TSM2 has a couple of extra files: TPC, a tetra-crunched cracktro from The Power Connection (who?) which revealed precious little when decrunched and ASCII scanned; and track.dat, which is team data. Those two files, as well as the startup-sequence, the main executable (tracksuit) and SCREEN$.LBM, which is the title screen, all have a different datestamp on them, 03-02-00, whereas the rest of the files are 12-08-88. The 03-02-00 datestamp never shows up on the Track Suit Manager disk.
Mind you, this is no extensive or elaborate detective work, but I have deep chagrin for fakes and thought I should add this one to the fakes list unless somebody has some compelling evidence to the contrary. My original of Track Suit Manager 2 is night and day different than the first game, while this thing is virtually identical. Just trying to set the record straight.
