Just thought that people might be interested to know about a Java port of Gamebase called jGameBase. It's only in the beta stage, but is looking promising so far.

Does it include any improvements compared to the normal version?

Eventually it will I imagine. At the moment, the main aim is to provide all of the functionality of the original, so that people on platforms other than Windows can use the various collections.
