Just wondering if anyone can tell me if the 4GB limit means a partition size limit or the physical hard drive size limit?

I have some spare 9GB SCSI drives I want to install into my 4000 with Kick 3.0 and WB 3.1. It would be a waste to install these drives and only be able to use the first 4GB.

If I can make multiple partitions then this would be okay until I either upgrade to OS3.5 or 3.9 or the PFS filesystem.

Please advise, thanks all :)

There is no limit how many partition you may have.

Size limit of fast file systen wich came with 3.0/3.1 is 2 gb, you can upgrade it to 4gb with newer version of it

Or you can use some other file systems like PFS or SFS

if you use the latest FFS, it also a good idea to use NSDPatch to upgrade your ide/scsi device. You can find it on aminet. BTW if you have an MMU on your A4000, i recommend you to use a kick3.1 rom and any ROM remapping tool such as MuFastRom.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately the 4k only has the EC030 CPU module, so it lacks the MMU and FPU. Perhaps someday I'll install an 060 and/or PPC upgrade module.

I will look into the other things you mentioned however.
