I have a question....
And i hope some one can answer that...
Why these days the number of new Whdload installers is getting lowered?
and not many requests are fullfilled..... (btw SPEEDBALL 2... is at 98% from June 2006.....)
Have the WHDLoad Developers started playing WOW?...;)
I adore the WHDLOAD project and wouldnt like to see it getting abandoned...
Cheers...

Well, I work on updates only if I'm unemployed, which is usually around summer. ;) I can't speak for other guys, but I think few patch authors are retired already.

It could always be that there are less games to install now since so many are already done. Apart from some demos I haven't found much to install...

There are heaps still remaining, including some quite good/popular/successful ones. Eg. Ultima 3/4.
I would imagine most are at that time of life where, beer, girls, work and families take up most of their free time.
Give it a few years and the oldest of them will have sent their kids to uni and the slaves will flow once more.

The only game I would love to see WhdLoad-ified is "Treasure Trap" - thats it.. my favorite iso3d retro-style game on miggy (favorite iso3d non-retro style is Cadaver, second favorite Darkmere ;-) ).
It has been on 50% for a while now, a year or so :(

hello,
Maybe the fact that the status of actual whdoad install work (on the whdload site) are pratically all dated in 2006 and afraid a lot of whdload fan (like me).
I would like to thanks to all whdload makers and for psygore for being active actually.
some of the last installs on whdload site are fix made by codetapper, cfou or jotd (thanks to them).

Last time I sent Bertrand some disk images he said the WHD stuff was taking a back seat to the EOB AGA project he was working on. He's also a lawyer IIRC, so I'm sure that keeps him plenty busy.
Anyway, you can't blame the WHD patchers for going through quiet periods......they have real lives of their own to lead. Inevitably such talented, creative people need to branch out into other projects too otherwise their enthusiasm for core projects becomes stifled.

whats more the tools and foundations for new slave authors are readily available should anyone want to bring some life back into regular whd installs ;)

Precisely. Most of the team members are all too happy to give a big helping hand to new patchers learning the ropes. I know Codetapper has done a lot of it in the past (and amazingly he still has hair to show for it!) :) What about you Matt? Gonna come out of retirement and give it another go?! ;)

Bubble Bobble is almost complete now. It supports the 3 SPS versions 1342-1344. There are options for infinite lives and a level skip, but sadly I haven't been able to make a starting level option (it would be nice to be able to start on level 50 for example). If anyone here has ever trained the game and has gotten a level select working, contact me ASAP!
The last level is incredibly difficult, I can't imagine anyone would have been able to complete this game without cheating!

Excellent news mate, cheers for not only going back and fixing the installs, but for adding all the extra "oomph" to them with multiple version supports, trainers etc.
Are there any noticeable differences between the SPS versions? Not just cosmetic, but format wise?
Inevitably such talented, creative people need to branch out into other projects too otherwise their enthusiasm for core projects becomes stifled.
"talented, creative" - I like it ;)
But you're exactly right, I think :great Speaking for myself, I get bored and/or distracted very easily :rolleyes And I'll admit that I got narked off with WHD in particular a few months ago, after I put a lot of effort and late nights into an installer and got precisely zero feedback from testing I took a break, redid my website (http://www.girv.net), had a holiday and I've even started learning C++, SDL and OpenGL (= games!) programming on the PC, but now the ol' "WHD Love" has returned and I'm just waiting for a SCART extension cable to arrive so I can get back into it :D

Don't be down Girv, I get a tad annoyed with WHDLoad every now and then ;)
Sorry if I didn't feed back on your install, which one was it?
A SCART extension cable sounds like a great idea mate, whoever suggested that is probably a genius.

Don't worry about it - I've got over my little sulk and it's all in the past now :)

Not only a genius, but also probably really good looking with a killer fashion sense too, I'd say.

I wasn't aware that you guys needed WHDLoad tester. :blased

SPS 1342 and 1343 have a different title picture. 1342 has no credits on the title, 1343 does.
1343 is actually identical to 1344 except it has a copylock encrypting it. Once you have stripped away the protection, those 2 versions are exactly the same.
SPS 1342 doesn't actually allocate enough memory for the main sprites in the game, so this might cause problems at some point. I allocated enough extra memory to load the entire file into it and therefore all files can be compressed.
1342 also has a problem with the stack being too small which caused me a lot of problems with phantom crashes when using WHDLoad's debugging tools as they use a lot of stack space. Probably wouldn't notice it on the original game though.

Cool, some good info there actually.
Strange they changed the title screen though. Wouldn't thought they would ever bother really, it's not exactly going to sell more copies is it.
I'm looking forward to the day when HOL 'handles' different game versions properly as I think it's very interesting stuff!
