Hi people.
I've been trying to find a copy of Super Cars(.adf) for ages, and eventually managed track one down today, but I've been told that it doesn't work with WinUAE!
Does anybody know if this is true or not, and if so, is there any way around it?
I've been desperate to play this game again for years!
I prefer SC1 to SC2 because the cars seem to handle more realistically, at least as far as I remember anyway. They also seem a lot larger than the SC2 ones.
Cheers,

Retroman,
I am at work at the moment, so won't be able to actually test whether or not the game works until later tonight, but I didn't want to get home and be disappointed!!
I've downloaded a version of WinFellow today aswell, so I can try that tonight. I'll post up my results tomorrow if anyone's interested.

Bugger!!
No joy!
Couldn't get it working with WinUAE or WinFellow.
Kept getting past the Workbench blue screen, and then the "Cracked by" blue screen, then nothing.
Oh the humanity!

Paranoimia cracked version of Super Cars works without problems on WinUAE0817R3. I am using my normal A500 config.
Maybe you have different version or broken adf? Could you upload it to the zone?

Yes Paranoimia crack works fine back Toni up :)
Super Cars (1990)(Gremlin)[b](Disk 2 of 2).adz
Super Cars (1990)(Gremlin)[cr Paranoimia][m][a][b](Disk 1 of 2)[Byte Bandit virus].adz
make sure you use kick 1.3 & I also only use 512k mem for older games turn of all drives except df0: & use OCS
good luck.
PS. @Toni any hints when the new fixes (Fire & Ice aga) maybe added to winuae & Im thinkin of buying an extra hard disk just to reinstall linux again...(I should do it anyway ;)

To get your copy to work on the new WinUAE, use kick 1.3, OCS chipset, 1Mb chip, 1MB slow and 68000 processor with SLOW MORE COMPATIBLE ENABLED and run A500 speed.
If I don't enable SLOW MORE COMPATIBLE it pauses like you mentioned.
Just experimented and it works a charm. :)

Thanks for the advice guys.
I don't think I have the Paranoimia version, is there any chance that one of you could upload it to the Zone please?
I really want to get this game working!
Having said that, when I eventually get the thing running, I'll probably find that it's nothing like I remember!
Thanks again,

I uploaded a copy (that is not in TOSEC yet...for you TOSEC team). I attempted running it using the suggested settings with WinUAE versions 8.8r8 and 8.14r1, but I got a guru and a crash, respectively. Lemme know if it works in the new version.

Thanks very much Twistin'.
I won't be able to test it out 'til tonight, but I'll leave a message here tomorrow with my results.

Also, if you go to aceroms, they have several variations of that game including one that is Byte Bandit infected!

Couldn't get it working last night for love nor money, but I'd forgotten to disable the extra floppy drives. D'oh!
Hopefully tonight will be the night!

Chris - if you are running an A1200 with a hard disk under WinUAE, then you could use the WHDLoad installed version of Supercars, written by our very own Codetapper. It's got a good chance of working under emulation.
It removes the problems of bad disk accessing routines, crashing pirate intros and disk swapping.

It all sounds a bit complicated to me, but if I don't get it working this weekend, I may be back to pick your brain.
I'd never heard about WHDLoad before coming on this forum, but I'll do some investigation next week.
See ya,

I wonder if there is a beginners' FAQ on WHDLoad. If not, then I could maybe write one.

Success!!!!
Turns out I was using a really old version of WinUAE (0.8.8 R7), which didn't have half the functions everyone was talking about, such as disabling the extra floppy drives!
Anyway, I've got the latest version now (I think) and it works great!
Thanks for everybody's help and advice.

That's neither your fault nor the emulator's fault - this disk 1 from the net is broken!
This one is not from me, but I was at the right place at the right time :)
I uploaded it to the Zone.
Enjoy!
