Cheers mate :)

Thanks for doing this, saves me a lot of hassle!

Now let's hope people don't request shit!

Let's hope WHDLoad team as well check's this topics as there are new requests for WHDLoad installs. :)

I wonder if this update will reach 300MB (BASS CD32 should take big chunk of that space by it self :))

Care to define 'shit'? :p ;)

How's this (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&defl=en&q=define:shit&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title) def?

Definitions of shit on the Web:
crap: obscene terms for feces
bullshit: obscene words for unacceptable behavior; "I put up with a lot of bullshit from that jerk"; "what he said was mostly bull"
jack: a small worthless amount; "you don't know jack"
a coarse term for defecation; "he took a shit"
asshole: insulting terms of address for people who are stupid or irritating or ridiculous
denounce: give away information about somebody; "He told on his classmate who had cheated on the exam"
damn: something of little value; "his promise is not worth a damn"; "not worth one red cent"; "not worth shucks"
stool: have a bowel movement; "The dog had made in the flower beds"
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn (http://www.google.com/url?sa=X&start=0&oi=define&q=http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn%3Fs%3Dshit&usg=__YjKCq5agXMkNN_4N8xAqCLW36s0=)Shit is a vernacular word in Modern English denoting the feces, the solid byproduct of digestion. It is an old and native English word, but following the Norman Conquest, Norman, Anglo-Norman, French, and Latin terms for many common objects and bodily functions began to be seen as more distinguished than native words, and thereafter feces became the accepted English noun, to defecate became the accepted English verb, and shit was no longer used in polite company.

Can you put "still sold" next to these, just to make people aware of why they are not in the pack :)

Capital Punishment
Gunbee F99
Marbelous
Pinball Brain Damage

Anubis
21 March 2007, 11:39
Sure I can. I didn't know what was the problem with them. I guess everything has to do something with one anoying member... :)

Anubis

No, why do you ask? :shocked :D

Just to test something, I request (if possible) Titus the Fox. :)

Thanks! :cheese

killergorilla
21 March 2007, 12:59
hmm...

I'm surprised I didn't already include Titus! Shame on me.

I also realised last night that Barbarian (Palace) wasn't in my packs, I quickly corrected that mistake.

No probs mate, it should have been in the T pack to be honest (and Moktar in the 'A' pack - AventuresDeMoktarFr if you were wondering :p) as I quite liked mucking around with this game back in the day.

I wonder if this update will reach 300MB (BASS CD32 should take big chunk of that space by it self :))

All the seperate versions of Beneath A Steel Sky (En/De/Fr/Se/It/CD32/CD32NoVoice) take up 104MB in total!

And as for the 300MB... you might be right :D

Hello,

I have the requested games (but not waxworks). I will upload them on the zone! but first would like to be sure.

The games came on an old CD I have. I would like to know if the game are requested in case the last whdload not work with this games.

They'll be in the next pack.

Anubis
08 April 2007, 05:36

And what happened to BI??:)

And when you will do games that start with F, U, C and K? :lol

OK. need to remove the requested part.

WHDLoad installs with errors:
Bubble Bobble
Desert Strike
Thomas The Tank Engine

for this point, I think I have all the games. My bobble bobble work fine but just with a previous whdload.

Whdload install with errors mean not working with last whdload ???

The last big pack need for me around 3 hours to download. Is it possible to have parts with 100-150mo each for downloading the first a day and the last the next day ???

Thanks for your great work and support for whdload packs. Have a good week end.

Yes it means they are not working with the most recent whdload, the authors of the slaves need to update them to get them working properly again.

Can you not just use a download accelerator/manager? There are loads of free tools which support file resuming and part downloads. 400mb isn't too bad :) Anyway, the next pack is not likely to be anywhere near 400mb so don't worry there!

I was gonna do K and G but H was a lot smaller. If there are few requests I just tend to install whatever I feel like. And on that particular day I felt like emptying the K and H dirs :)

As for F U C K...

F will be done soon enough.
U has already been done.
C has too many games for me to bother with right now.
K just been done.

so FUK is ok ;)

Edit: Aah, found your error report. I'm using the tooltype "NoVBRmove", you should try this.

Operation Stealth_It is, as you stated, in March pack and I saw it reported in your commodore#?.dat file you uploaded to the zone.

However, I can open and read this last file but I don't understand what is for.

It's a dat file for use with clrmamepro (rom renamer/scanner tool).

Marcuz

let me tell you Anubis, you are doing a really nice job with these threads, very well ordered :)
now, if only install makers would use a thread like this one to fill the holes in the whdload collection (adding features to already existing installs, making installs for games that lacks one) that would be very interesting. alas...
i'll browse HOL in a while and get back at this :)

ops sorry, i'll remove the "the" tout de suite :)

[edit] done: Crossbow: legend of William Tell is there because i looked for it under "L"

i'll not ask for more this month :)
also, it is possible that some of these games are in the ancient packs, the ones before the zip releases: you may give priority to something else, i just put them here if they do not appear in the lists on your site, as it would be for newcomers that don't have seen that packs.

Anubis

Finally some action. Thank you marco! :)

Are there more games that are missing in packs + update and you like? (I didn't check those yet against current packs + updates, hope you did it)

Seems KG is going to be busy... Otherwise fred is going to rent him in NY...:crazy

And yes, I agree that WHDLoad people should use this thread to figure out what games to do next. (seems a lot of no whdload requests :D - might have to move it somewhere else from the list :D)

@ gordonbennett - please be specific which games you like to see included in packs. Of course as long as it's not already in packs, and as long as there is WHDLoad install for that game. :)

also, it is possible that some of these games are in the ancient packs, the ones before the zip releases: you may give priority to something else, i just put them here if they do not appear in the lists on your site, as it would be for newcomers that don't have seen that packs.

I give priority to whatever appears in these request threads :)

The old lzx files are no more and I don't really include them as part of the KGWHD project. Plus, I can't be bothered to go back and check through them all :)

Marcuz

Are there more games that are missing in packs + update and you like? (I didn't check those yet against current packs + updates, hope you did it)

I have checked only the adventure games, prompted by the current poll thread on point and click adventures.
i guess that i will not check more games this month, for the simple reason that i have not even the time to play the games from february! :)

And yes, I agree that WHDLoad people should use this thread to figure out what games to do next. (seems a lot of no whdload requests :D - might have to move it somewhere else from the list :D)

if you have some idea on how to propose this to the whdload members i support you, but i saw the opposition of some of the main guys ther about a forum as such or even a thread. i guess they have good reasons for that but i do not entirely agree with them.

It could be good to create a compatibility thread or something? Working with the games in my packs (and the new dat).

I'd certainly be interested in helping out.

But please remove Desert Strike from the "errors" list, because it works fine with the "NOVBRMOVE" tooltype, the quitkey F5 is still working with this setting. ;)

Ah I didn't realise the quitkey worked still. I'll take a look.

@ Retro-Nerd

Isn't that something you added in tool type?

I think that when (if?) KG ads that into his packs as fix in next release we should remove it from the problem list.

That way we all know current version has some bugs. :)

@ Marco

I can post this in WHDLoad yahoo user group if that's going to help. I dislike current way we report problems are make requests for WHDLoad, but again it's their good will to create those installs and I'm thankful for what they done for community.

And yes, we need to make sure KG has some time to visit pubs, work as Fred’s whore etc. :cheese

let me know about the bat install when you find it ...as explained in a previous thread, the diskimages get corrupted within a few days after the install...i have no clue about this issue (fr version, last whd slave)

ok, let me see if i understand it right.

1) basically installs authors have their own forum, the yahoo group.
that place is mostly for posting bugs on the installs and testing.

2) the authors usually pick their own faves or interesting games for to write an install and check it on the rooster at whdload site. when the interest to complete an install or the time lacks, you can see the game stay there for months with the status percentage hanging, because anyway, not another writer picks it up, generally, not to overlap efforts.
(please notice, i'm not whining, i fully know that whdload, as much as many other amiga projects, is volountering based, i'm just stating.)

3) for the reason at point 2, the authors are not keen in receiving request for games: if the request is posted on the yahoo group, and the person asking can provide the original, then, when an install writer notices it and he is interested, then he pick it,
so at least i've repeatedly read here in the forums.
at this regard, i would like to point that SPS are abundantedly available around.

So resuming, as not everybody here frequents the yahoo forum, we could simply start a thread (there is the forum already in this board: the need is only for a refreshing of the walls, so to speak) collecting:

a) all the games that we would like see whdloaded,
b) the new features that we would like see added to already existing installs (for instance a cheat here, a file saving rehaul there) and
c) the incompatibilities as KG suggests.

and then one could periodically submit it to the yahoo forum.

what do you think? also, if you GM want to move the last few post in a new thread, i posted here in reply, i was not sure where to post anyway.

It's maybe not so easy as you think, Marco. I talked to Wepl some weeks ago and suggested him some games. But he has no time for that in the next month or even the next 1-2 years. He wants to fix a lot of his old releases.

I can fully understand this. It is better to have more fully working WHDLoad installs than a bunch of half working ones. I guess the most WHDLoad patcher share the same point of view.

Marcuz
10 April 2007, 20:49
yeah i understand that and agree: i just think that to have the rooster more open, may help speed up thing, after all, there are guys that want to try writing installs and other that may have forgotten/lost interest in particular requests or games that may be then snatched by other writers.
however it was just a suggestion, i know that whdload staff has already its hands full as it is.

Retro-Nerd
10 April 2007, 20:59
Yes, some patcher like Dark Angel, Abaddon or Harry has lost their interested in coding the slaves. Some were never released officially, like the slaves from Traxx. He wrote e. g. slaves for Bards Tale 2 & 3.

Sadly i have on programming skills. :sad

How about:

Impossible Mission II (http://hol.abime.net/2621)
Impossible Mission 2025 (both ECS (http://hol.abime.net/2623) and AGA (http://hol.abime.net/2624) versions, CD32 not supported AFAIK)

Oh, and Thunderhawk (http://hol.abime.net/1394) too, as its slave was recently improved (http://www.whdload.de/games/Thunderhawk.html).

Pretty pretty please with sugar on top?

Please, as i know there's much already for the current release, keep these for the next month pack (as for what concernes me) i'm just typing them now that i'm thinking about them.

sadly very few chess and dames games have a whdload install, even less the wargames, only the obvious games have it :( it's time to put a patch to that, you whdload installers! :spin

however:
Legend of Ragnarok (http://hol.abime.net/1187) (aka Ragnarok or King's Table etc.
(btw i know this game was buggy on disk version, i played a cracked one on my A1200 and it stopped in the turnament after you won the first game: is it the same with the whdload patched version? i ask because i don't see SPS releases for it)
War in the Middle Earth (http://hol.abime.net/1661)
Risk (http://hol.abime.net/1246)
Lords of the Rising Sun (http://hol.abime.net/919)
Antago (http://hol.abime.net/3275)
consider yourself lucky KG, of the more than 30 games i've checked this evening, only these ones have an install :)

How about Moonschine Racers (http://hol.abime.net/2508) (you gotta love that intro) and Road Rash (http://hol.abime.net/1250)?

I remember Wild Cup Soccer (http://hol.abime.net/1710). Played great, but the scrolling was horrible on my A1200.

I'm pretty sure the install doesn't support Kick Off 2 datadisks as you can only install 1 disk versions.

It definitely doesn't support 1.6e as I've already tried it. That's why the one in my current whdload packs is 1.4e.
