This was just a demo wasnt it?
The full game was never made for the Amiga.
You can of course play the PC-files using SCUMM-VM

No, I think someone made a full version from the PC version... but needed someone to make the music for the Amiga version.
Havn't followed the project so doesn't know for sure.
Its a scumm package by pbareges, for some speedup issues...

hi there
to make it clear :
- here's the thread with the adress pointing at the final version) - http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=26643
- the idea was to start from an early version of scumm not consuming too much cpu to make it work on a vanilla 1200
- nogfx released such a version years ago but it was lacking sound and music and there were a few gfx bugs to patch but thanks to his quick mode and chunky pixels patchs available from aminet it was totally playable on 1200
- i forced his version to quick mode, patched the gfx bugs, added a modplayer engine and converted the midi tracks to soundtracker modules (far from perfect but i'm really happy)...some guys pushed me to include sfx, so i made modules out of original samples and defined a priority rule that makes music overrides samples playing when conflicting within the game...
- i reached my competency limits so i can't upgrade it further but code is available to anyone interested....enjoy!

I have copied blazewcp(C Dir) and ptreplay.library(Libs Dir)
It is here where is to write "C:BlazeWcp" ?
It is necessary to also write "setpatch quiet"?
I have OS 3.1.
I have tested the game in WinUAE, with 2 mb of chip and 8mb of fast. The game works slow and scroll abrupt.
Thanks avanced!:great

I havn't tried this Amiga version of DoTT, but can it be finished from start to finish?

Like you I haven't tried it out but I believe so Ironclaw ;)

Nope, honestly I havn't... not a fan of this game.... :)....
but "I believe so", is not good enough, as I want to make a longplay of it... and would not like to get stuck :)

Ok Ironclaw, here you go... Quoted from the DOTT AGA Amiga Page (http://amiga.h-plus-t.com/):
I was able to complete the game without any major recurrent bug...the game might crash from time to time but it's been very rare in my experience... just save regularly as for most of adventure games to avoid starting back from the very beginning!!
I have played it through. All seems good. :)
Why not using a more recent ScummVM version for the longplay, as WinUAE should be fast enough for it?
Ya Thor, but the aim is to use it on real hardware. Why run old PC games on a PC based Amiga emulator....?
If you need dos use dosbox

Why not using a more recent ScummVM version for the longplay, as WinUAE should be fast enough for it?
If you mean:
Playing DoTT through ScummVM on an Amiga (or winuae), then no.. that's like recording it from the PC, don't want that.
Playing ScummVM on the PC and record from there, then no, that's not Amiga.
I only record Amiga games, or ports.
"as WinUAE should be fast enough for it?"
Yes, WinUAE could handle DoTT, and even DoTT using ScummVM, I'm sure.
@DDNI: Thanks, will try the game out then.
Only one option for me and that is playing it through WinUAE, playing the port.
Technically, it's still a port of the ScummVM engine. It's just modified for using only DOTT on AGA and using MODs. But you are of course free to choose if it qualifies for a longplay :)
Ironclaw
17 March 2007, 17:47
If scummvm isn't required to run it on an Amiga, it's a port imo :), and therefor qualified :).
If scummvm isn't required to run it on an Amiga
Ok, but you are running ScummVM. The exe is the ScummVM executable just renamed to tentacle.exe. It's only forced to run DOTT.

Have fun :) And thanks for your work on the longplays, they're nice.

Ahh, if that's the case, I think there should be no reason why the game wouldn't run decently thoughout.
But before I play this game I will have to finish other games and stuff...
Thanks for the info y'all.

you must edit the sys:s/startup-sequence file...the first line should already be "setpatch quiet" and just after this you should add the "C:blazewcp" line...without the blazewcp patch yes the game will be very slow...let me know! and to others: yes the game can be completed...

I have installed OS 3.1 in WinUAE but I cannot see drawer “S”, then I select “to see all the archives” and already I can see and enter in drawer “S”,the problem is that attempt to enter startup sequence but appears this one message to me:
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r233/frikiloko/Clipboard01-2.jpg
I press then ok and appears this:
http://i145.photobucket.com/albums/r233/frikiloko/Clipboard01-3.jpg
I only have installed WB 3.1 without WHDLoad and other programs,I do not understand so that hidden files exist that if you select that they are "visible" and do not work :confused
I hope that you can to help to me,please!;)

try
execute startup-sequence
if you don't have edited your startup-sequence yet then you can try:
ed s:startup-sequence
then add
C:BlazeWcp
to it after the setpatch line and save. Then reboot.

Is the game only in English or there are more languages?,I would like in spanish.
DamienD
17 March 2007, 22:45
Hmmm, not sure...
Look on ScummVM website (http://www.scummvm.org/), ScummVM forum (http://forums.scummvm.org/) or other websites to try and find patches ;)
Not sure if they will work with the Amiga "port" though, guess so if the standard English DOTT file are used (don't quote me though) ;)
Try replacing the files tentacle.000 and tentacle.001 with the ones from the spanish version.

Hehe, not even intentional. As for testicle.000 and .001, I would never try to replace them with Spanish ones, but then I don't know about English ones either :)

Is the game only in English or there are more languages?,I would like in spanish.
the only problem with this scumm early version is that it cannot go through code protection scheme with many of the available versions...the english cd-rom version is the only version i checked that is working..( i tried most of the french and english versions...but you can check spanish versions by yourself by just replacing tentacle.000 and tentacle.001 as explained earlier)...maybe i was not able to put my hands on the real original french cd-rom version...
to make it work in french i used a tool called scummtr that exports/imports the text of the game in/from and ascii file...i exported french language version of text and imported it in english cd-rom version...i had to ensure that every line was matching (through a good text editor, a couple of hours), replace all special french caracters with regular ones (english engine does not support them)...but still i have a few issues : when constructing a n action sentance (use x with y) it does not appear on the screen, and there's one place in the game where it freezes so you have to press escape.

@pbareges:
Hope you're doing well :)
What do you think, could either the original thread (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=26643) or this one be made sticky or moved into the fan projects area so that it won't be lost and our fellow EAB users can find the game.
Regarding languages: if it's only a matter of replacing binary files, couldn't they be added to the package (with some sort of setup program). I remember I have DOTT in german somewhere on my older HDDs, but this is the PC version. I might try them with the game when I find some time.

Let's see. It's difficult as I collected only german and english games over the years. but we'll see. I have to scan my lost treasures :)
