Here's a scan from GamesTM's regular article where they look at game collectors. This one features the HOL's very own DrBong!

It's an awesome collection, made more impressive by the fact that he's downunder (and not in the UK) where games were not nearly as readily available.

Impressing indeed.

Yet I (in DrBong's stead) would've done everything that my real name does NOT get published in the article. I don't like this part. -- DrBong is my HOL team mate; but outside the private forum DrBong is DrBong and nobody else. That I address him with his real first name inside the private area(s) is another story; yet private things are private and should not be public because that's why they're private. Moreover ... the real name behind DrBong was not even known to myself until I became a HOL team member. Yes I AM serious. "Ah YOU are that DrBong! The one whose real name I often read in ... " - "Yes I am". :D

But well ... I'm not him, hence ... he may do what he wants; just my 2c, though. :cool

Impressing indeed.

...yet private things are private and should not be public because that's why they're private.

is there any (comprehensible) reason for that ? i don't get the point. knowing real-life names should'nt be a problem i guess.

Well. Galahad is always Galahad and wants it that way. Only (and really only) because he's turned a game programmer for a short time, he gave permission (YES I DID ask him) to have his real name in HOL with the games he programmed.
Same with Codetapper. He would be very upset if I addressed him with his real first name in public - I'm sure. This is PRIVATE - full stop. And also may be regarded as a means of respect to the person's privacy.
From the rock scene (real-life example): Iggy Pop to a mag editor: "You may call me Iggy, Mr. Pop, Mr. Iggy ... whatever in your interview. Except for "Mr. Osterberg"; you may NOT address me that way, for that's private.". Yup, agree with him.

Sorry for all the OT stuff, but that's what popped into my eye from the article...

Call my CodyJarrett or Adrian Simpson.

Good to know, but who is Chris Vella? I read his name in a lot of WHDLoad installs. And found this site some month ago.

Chris has supplied a lot of originals for WHDLoad installs but I haven't spoken to him for a couple of years.

in all honesty, if he didn't want his real name revealing he wouldn't have allowed it to go in the magazine!

Is it such a big deal? we are all friends here really (in general) and there is nothing overly illegal going on, unlike the old days!

Thanks for the scans Adrian and the kind comments guys! :)

And nice that HOL got a few mentions. :great

That was the real incentive to do the interview......to get some mass exposure for HOL (and RCK), AMR and WHDLoad without being too cheeky! Just wish that the URLs for AMR and WHDLoad were included at the end along with HOL's. Nevertheless, Ashley Day did a great job! :great I'm very thankful to him and GamesTM for giving me (and HOL) such generous coverage.

@andreas
I think my cover was blown ages ago when Adrian interviewed me for APOV ;) Normally I like to keep a low profile, but the GamesTM article was my choice and it was for a very good cause. Now let's resume normal viewing......

Just the thing I assumed from you from past experiences / impressions and which I thought you'd always keep up with. But to err is human :p

I just like to keep a secret a secret.

Yes, DrBong! :D

(I've become very experienced in this now because of the hard-to-keep secret with AMR operating roughly 2 years behind closed doors. :cool Clearly the difference of "keeping a secret" and "adamantly keeping a secret" :D)

@DrBong:

Nice collection, indeed.
Nice interview, too - so finally your cover has been blown :laughing

I need to say that I was unable to recognize at least 4 games from the picture of the "rarities" (e.g. the Triangle boxed one). Could you drop us a list of the games being shown?

and - which RELINE game (?) is pictured on the lower right hand side?

If I ever manage to got to Australia this year I would be happy to pay you a visit :spin
