*sigh*
Ok dudes, you guys have really really helped me out so far. I would have given up long before now without this board :guru
Ok, when attempting to extract a game I get this kind of fing:
* * *
lha x Xenon2WHD17.lzx DH0:games/
Warning! Skipping corrupt/extraneous data....
Operation not entirely succesful
0 files extracted
* * *
Its the same with every single WHDload file I try to extract. they're all d/l'd from the Magix board, and all of them can't be corrupt so It's sommink I'm doing wrong.
come on guys! Nearly there! Sponsor a n00b today!
Could it be a tool I need to download? I have rawdic...
Crash :P
I would try another lha file, just to see if the files are not corrupted...
Download something from aminet.net and try... - I need glasses LOL ;)

Or try lzx for .lzx archives ;-)

Yeah, you appear to be using lha for lzx files :p
Grab lzx instead :)

Or get ClassicWB, use DoOpus and don't worry about what (lha, lzx or zip) is unarchived. ;)

I still think it's annoying that no proper LZX extractor for Windows exists.
And no, I don't trust that "unlzx" program, nor the Total Commander plugin. ;)

why don't you trust unlzx? works fine here

I was just about to recommend it before I read your post again :) What's so "suspicious" about it? ;)

I also uses the Total Commander & lzx plugin and it works flawless. But there are a few amiga games, which contains names like these:
SPT0.
.Data
CAVE IFF
Windows has uncompressing problems with such files and removes often the dots or the spaces.
Puzznic and Batman - The Movie are examples for that trouble.

The Amiga filesystem can have lots more characters in filenames than Windows... if you unarchive to a FAT32 or NTFS filesystems you can get issues.
Amber_* for example is a valid filename (because wildcards on Amiga is #?)
But the files are unarchived intact and renamed... but I dont think unlzx warns you.
There is nothing it or any other app could do in this situation anyhow!

There used to be this fixing program that i used to correct lzx-archives: http://aminet.net/search?query=lzx%20_netfix

Weird, I fixed Puzznic on January 3, 2002 but the version on the WHDLoad site seems to be the old v1.1 slave. The latest one has this in the readme:
VERSION 1.2:
- Filename matching routines modified so filesystems which remove trailing dots on filenames (eg. "ZCHR." becomes "ZCHR") will still work. For example, you can now run the game properly from CD-Roms and emulators.
- Old NewIcon (90x90) replaced with extended newicon (120x96)
I'll get that slave uploaded soon!

Codetapper,
I am unable to download utilities from your homepage. Did you (re)move them??
Thanks!

Nope, they are all there, however file types like LhA, LZX etc seem to be blocked on reversers.net
Download them from the old site for the time being: http://whdloadrules.tripod.com/

Similiar to MethodGit (http://eab.abime.net/member.php?u=1932) I am also full of distrust towards "unlzx". It sometimes properly packed archives unpacks with some checksum errors or corruption errors. LZX archive I always extract using VoodooX and XAD library.

Did you ever get around to this? I've been trying to run Puzznic but I get the ZHCR error and file on website seems to be 1.1 still.
If I can get this working I'll register WHDLoad. :cheese
Also, having to obtain kickstart roms is a bit of a tricky situation ain't it? ;)

Mick: v1.2 of Puzznic now in the zone...

Thanks for that I've registered WHDLoad as promised. :great
Any chance of getting Kickstart files for A500/A1200 or is that a naughty question? (even though I physically own both I might add)

Google got them :)

It doesn't work with latest WHDLoad 17 beta and possibly not 16.9 either.
Function 'resload_ListFiles' called with illegal
file specification '/data/'.
Must not start/end with '/' and must not contain '//' or ':'.Works with 16.8 though.

I managed to get it working by transferring over the .zip and extracting it in Directory Opus on the Amiga, rather than unzipping it on PC and then transferring it over.
Finding the Amiga a bit of a challenge overall but quite fun and very rewarding. :D

Protip when using WinUAE:
Always extract Amiga archives under emulation instead of using Windows. ;)
