I found Simple FTP 2.7 (Demo) on Aminet and I think it is a really neat little FTP client - can you still register it does anyone know... I read on the internet about a later version 2.74? that may include a free keyfile - anyone throw any light on this for me...
Cheers Peter :)

Have you tried emailing the author at any of the old email addresses he listed for SimpleFTP
(i.e. rick AT simpleftp.co.uk, rick.thehub AT bigfoot.com)?
You might be interested in the last message he left on the SimpleFTP website before it went offline for good:
http://web.archive.org/web/20010331201854/http://www.simpleftp.co.uk/
He talks of getting someone to continue development back in 2001, but the same message remains there until the website disappears altogether in 2002.
Anyway, let us know if you get any response in email.

But if someone can help, I would buy this software asap...
edit: just removed, to prevent confusions. next time i reread the first post three times :)

An old post but I had totally forgotten about this.....
The author has released a Key maker for Simple FTP and it is now on Aminet as well as the main program - I have installed Simple FTP and used the Key Maker - it all works.
It is a very neat little FTP client for the Amiga (Uses MUI) It's not as complex as some FTP programs but very user friendly all the same.
Thanks go to the author.

Oo would that mean I could install an FTP server e.g. http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=server on my PC, then an FTP client to move stuff onto the Amiga? Or are there easier ways? I've ordered the EasyNet wired kit from AmigaKit.

AmiTradeCentre is pretty good as is MFTP II (from Netconnect) as is AMIFTP (also on Aminet) - there is quite a good choice of FTP clients for the Amiga!
@MrCheese - Yes, you can set this up, you can use Filezilla Server interface and set up a shared area on your windows PC - then just ftp from your Amiga to your PC's IP address using any of the Amiga FTP clients... you don't get lightning speeds though...

I'm just thinking of ways to punt files about. If I'm really lucky there may be a way to view SMB shares with the EasyNet software. I'm not up on Amiga networking at all. FTP I understand, so that's a good way to start.

The set up doesn't like wireless though... not for me anyway...

I didn't get the wireless one. Wireless is great for phones and laptops but from reading around can be a pain for Amiga.

Wireless set up on my A1200 was pretty painless to be honest (I did read up on it a bit first though) it's just that with FTP'ing from PC to Amiga via your wireless router home network, it can throw up problems with NAT/Firewall hurdles and dreaded FTP "Cant open data connection" errors... when you plug an ethernet cable from your Amiga PCMCIA slot straight into your adsl/router however it's pretty solid and quite fast.
