Well, I fancied another Amiga to add to the growing collection. So this time instead of another 500 I thought I'd pimp for a 2000 :D
and here she is (sorry for the carp pics);

http://www.tiffanyteen.tv/amiga/2000b.jpg
She's completely bog standard - still running KS 1.2, rev 4.3 pcb, B2000-CR model :bowdown
Plans over the next few weeks;
Take out slightly leaking onboard battery (not leaked too much thankfully)
Upgrade to KS 3.1
New fan for PSU (old one sounds like a dead squirrel :( )
Maybe memory expansion
Bath (aka a clean :D )
Trying to read the german manual :laughing
Then she's ready to rock and a roll. She works a treat just had her on playing Turrican II for a bit :cheese (I couldn't resist)

If you want a RAM card, or maybe a SCSI card, PM me, I have some stuff in a cupboard at my parents house that I could probably send your way for not much money.
Anyway, Looks nice, Wish I had one here (mine is also at my parents, in the garage, along with my A1200 and pimped out A500+ :( ) it's quite annoying not having a car to move obsolete computer equipment around the country.
I might end up ebaying myself one, though I'd prefer to get my hands on a bodega bay or some such to use with an A500, that would be awesome.

Big box A2000's are nice. I was working on mine the other day, I un-pimped it. Took out the GVP 68030/40 and Retina 4MB video card, put a 2091 with 1.2GB HD in it and added a 2nd floppy for an old school game rig. Should find an old memory card for it since 3MB total just seems like an odd number.

This mornings work;
http://www.tiffanyteen.tv/amiga/2000rev.jpg
Just wondering what's the best type of cleaner to use for cleaning the board with? I've just gently wiped it with a damp cloth where there was slight battery leakage for the time being.
She's all up and running now :) Got the fan working, just noisy so will have to order a new one. :)
I'll PM you guys with the cards you're selling :D

there are some special sprayes for electronics , you can even use them when the computer is on, it won't damage it... I use one made by FAREN Chemicals, great results!

Just a small update... few days ago I cleaned up the old solder from the battery..
http://www.tiffanyteen.tv/amiga/batterya.jpg
and today a 2058 ram card
http://www.tiffanyteen.tv/amiga/2058.jpg
Unfortunetly the extra 2mb on the 1 megabit dram sockets are faulty - I get loads of errors on the ram tests.. but the good news is the soldered ram is fine. So it's just running 2mb atm (3mb total) which is plently for what I need to do :D

I would try and get a GVP HC8+ (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1196) if you can. They are not rare, dont go for rediculous prices and offer maximum flexibility bar an accelerator.

They're 18-pin :( Those others would be a tight squeeze I'd need a hammer :guru
Alex, I've a 2091 on the way atm but the GVP would be nice as a spare :D Although I have no money now after buying a 1000 - another project :D

Flippin' heck! I forgot how monstrous those big box Amiga's were!
Friend used to have a 1500 (UK version of the 2000) and the thing took up half his room. Defo military speck!
Never been a fan of the boxed Amiga's, much prefer the desktop versions. Nice though if you like them - the amount of space inside is sick!
Is that an Atari ST in the background on one of the photos? Please don't get these two machines too close. I've heard it amounts to the same bang as matter and anti-matter. :shocked

Well, a closet ST fan would say that wouldn't they? While hiding behind a big Amiga. j/k ;)

I've got the IDE version of that drive somewhere, not particularly reliable (though it was already ancient when I got it, and it only cost £8 from a car boot sale, so...) but oh so quiet, I tried it on my A1200, and had to put my ear against it to tell whether it was running or not.

HEY ! Are you mad ? Those resistor packs are RED ! This is definitely a fake A2000 mobo made by amiga inc, cause it's not MilSpec ! MilSpec resistor packs are nice black color like in true commodore B2000s.

What colour did you have in mind Mick? Don't say Lilac! :lol:

:lol I've only ever seen the black jobbies on the later boards with the full ecs chipset :( Just had a gander on amiga-hardware.com and most of the pics on there have red-uns! :spin
As for Amiga-Inc - pah :laughing :lol

What is the background on the "milspec" jokes?
And I heard you can bath electronics in water + soap (you must have soap) and then dry them with a hairdryer. Looks like new then, I tried it on some PC stuff.

What is the background on the "milspec" jokes?
Perhaps this might shed some light:
Just who do you think you are talking too? I know all this stuff already. I just happen to be a Class 4 Electronics Assembler. I have worked on Top Secret military contracts, so I know what I am talking about. Anyway, the type of mil spec I am talking about is an electronics assembly spec. It has nothing to do with the military. There are 3 classifications of electronics assembly. They are Consumer Spec, Military Spec and Weapons Spec. Stuff that is produced for the military actually falls under the Weapons Spec catagory. "
Searching the web for Doommaster will give you some more pieces to the puzzle..

Some people also put them in the dishwasher. The board must be fully dry before powering up, also it's a good idea to remove any batteries / socketed chips before washing with water.

I guess I wouldn't have the nerves to put some amiga motherboard in the dishwasher

Water itself isn't bad - it's water and electricity combined that makes the magic smoke come out.
Like I said, just make sure the board is fully dry before applying power again and life is good.. You could even use an oven (say 50 degrees celsius) to dry it off.

Welcome to the A2000 owners club!! Your system looks to be in very good condition.
I have recently resurrected my A2000, a B2000CR with KS2.04, A2091 with 49MbHD and 2 MB ram.
I have replaced the battery & fan, I bought a Unitek Computing Super 400U/180 TX450W P4 PSU at a local computer shop for about $10 cos the fan is perfect for the A2000 psu, same 12v 0.15A it is as if it was made for it!
I have an A2630 accel as well but I have a problem with it.
It shows as present in Sys Info but the speed is still reported as 7mhz, as part of my diagnosis I removed the 68000 from the MB and although the manual says jumper 302 on the card should be removed if the 68000 is removed on 4 layer German A2000 MBs, I discovered to my surprise that if I put J302 ON with the 68000 removed the system boots prefectly:shocked
However, Sysinfo still reports the speed as just over 7MHZ:confused so I think it may be a problem with the MB. :crying

I'd check the jumper J200, according to the manual, it's a clock configuration jumper for factory use only. I'm thinking there's a possibility that it forces the 2630 to use the motherboards clock rather than its own.
Supposedly it should be on pins 2-3 if fitted.

My A2000 is Weapons Spec!!!! Nice restore. Get the Rev 7.0 ROMs for that 2091 if you do not. You might want to revisit that leaky battery area in 6 months and reclean. Unlike the other Amigas, the 2000 will work fine due to leaky battery damage, due to it's large real estate!
