View Full Version : My cooling solution for my CyberStorm PPC233/060 and Cybervision

At first I want tell, I had and I have absolutly NO Problems with my machine and these cards.
But as most of you should know as much as you reduce the temperature of your electronic devices as longer they will work with less problems.

Here is what I did to my A4000T,the Cyberstorm 233/060 and Cybervision:

I use self-adhesive small blue heatsinks my self... lol

I thought the cooling on the CVPPC looks nice, until I saw the other side of the board. Anyway, it is a clever solution you have made there.

Just one question; why have you gotten the CVPPC installed in that orientation? Wouldn't it be better to install it using the other connector you have on the CVPPC? Would at least give the fan some fresh air.

Can you guys suggest where I could find some tiny heatsinks and fans? My CVPPC gets MEGA hot and I can't seem to find anything small to cool it with :(

If I had used the other connector I would have had trouble with the position of the big fan.
In the way shown above everything was very easy to install...

You should do as DoctorQ say and mount the CVPPC as normal, then there are no problems even cooling it passively with a larger heatsink. I have attached a Zalman NB32K chipset heatsink on my CVPPC which cools it effectively. It is attached by using some regular plastic coated solid copper wire taken from a bit of cat5 cabling, which holds it really well. The pictures doesn't show it very well, but you will atleast see the wires.

The voltage regulator above the Permedia2 chip which also will get really hot touches the heatsink a bit, so it also gets a bit of cooling. The area it touches with isn't big, but with the help of some cooling paste it atleast transfers some heat :).

I got my heatsinks on a local computer shop, they belong to a lame TITAN vga cooling solution... lol it sux, but the self-adhesive heatsinks are great!

bah :lol

I simply have my tower with no outer case and a desk fan pointed right at the chips...

never gets even warm...

come to think of it, this A4000D doesn't have its cover on either...

no carpet on this floor, no smokers and no dust...

the more clutter you have the more things you need to eliminate when things go wrong...

It is hard to get the innards of the computer to stick on a photo when the cover is on :D.

Normally the cover is on though.
