OK, so I blatantly ripped off Cody's subject. See you on People's Court! :cheese

This thread has been modified because I removed the box art for the games that have been found, plus I moved everything to a master listing below. Thanks to all who have helped find so many of these games!

OK, I found one of my old wants lists, struck the titles that I've gotten since then, and am left with a few that have yet to be realised. I will bypass the ones that are already on Cody's list.

Striker no 9 is also in the zone now.

CodyJarrett
15 November 2001, 17:21
I was wondering if Striker (Impressions) was the same as Striker No. 9.

This confirms it, because Energize was Impressions' budget range, so the box just has a different name from the actual game titlescreen.

oldpx
15 November 2001, 17:28
Yes, it looks like they are the same.

in the intro it says: "Angels + Defjam present Striker Number 9 from Impresssions"

and here is the title screen:

.......RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!

:laughing :laugh :laughing

A definite classic, no question. A very scary game indeed when the Sinistar gets built and he comes chasing after you. The only gripe I have with this shmup is it's far too hard. I can complete L1 fine but L2, the difficulty just seems to skyrocket. Is it just me or have other people noticed this?

I played Gyruss on MAME recently and I'm amazed at how well they ported it to the C64 (since that's the one I've been playing for years). Good job :)

Hey, where's Puppy Love!!?!?!? How can you sleep at night knowing that the last few originals of Puppy Love are covered with mold and spider eggs? Somewhere in this world is a working copy of Puppy Love, and a very lonely two-color animated dog is on that disk waiting for his master to call his name once again.

Thanks for dropping that coconut on my head, DP! I actually have a more updated version of my Wants List somewhere, but I just don't know where, so I patched up the one I did find. There is much to be added! Can't wait to see what Santa brings EAB this year!

Amiga Format Coverdisk 54-B Sensible's "Cannon Soccer"

Twistin, is this the same game/demo as the Amiga Format Xmas Special (currently in Tosec games dat as "Cannon Fodder - Amiga Format Christmas Special (1992)(Sensible)[cr FairLight].adf")?

If so, presumably you want an uncracked version? I may be able to get this at Christmas, I know for sure that my friend has it.

If not, just ignore me ;).

Uploaded some of your requests twisty!

I think a-train construction kit used dos disks, so it had no copy protection, but i'm not sure if it had manual protection or not.

BTW - Tell me if you get space station oblivion working.

Twistin'Ghost
12 December 2001, 22:05
Excellent! Thanks, Andy! I was just looking at this message this morning and was getting ready to strike an entry and modify a few others, but I got dragged back to work (this has been an especially bad work week with my work hours exceeding my home/sleep hours...) Very excited...I think I can get SSO to work; I have an original of it and have had that working, so I'll see what happens.

@TikTok
Yeah, that's the same game. I need to check to see if there's anything different about the adf version and the protected coverdisk, but I don't have my coverdisk collection accessible.

I think I found a source for several others on the list, so I hope to get my paws on those, too. By that time, I should have the new changes to my MIA.

Hey, thanks again for the uppers!

BTW - Tell me if you get space station oblivion working. This CANNOT work. It's just a disk rotten to the core.
This disk is 100% full, but the only files on this disk are

o disk.info
o driller.info (but no driller executable [anymore])
o oblivion.info
o wait
o Trashcan.info
Ugh...hey Andy, where the hell did you dig out THAT? :D:laugh

Twist: well, I do have a Driller adf. But it's by Incentive Software, showing a spaceship in cockpit view - you're looking for a different one, I suppose?

Twistin'Ghost
13 December 2001, 06:50
Yeah, Driller I have, which is the European version. Space Station Oblivion is the US version of the same game. I might have a contact on a copy of this, but I still wanna see the one posted (I'm a collector of non-working disks?) :D

The Puppy Love that I uploaded before appears to be a standard copy from a protected original, so it won't let you into the game because of it being a dupe. I am seeking a mirror of the original or a cracked version (and I *may* have found one of those, as well).

Warlock99
13 December 2001, 08:40
It looks like it may have been copied from a protected disk and this is the result, there definitely seems some problem with it anyway.

@ Twistin

Italia 1990 (Codemasters) is in the zone.

Twistin'Ghost
25 January 2002, 21:56
@DPainter
Thanks for the info (and those uploads, as well!) Go ahead and send up that Tracksuit Manager '91 if you could. Sometimes the dates on those title screens refer to the original code and not the updated part, so this may still be what I am looking for. Worth a look anyway.

@Shadowen
Thanks for Italia 1990 - it kept crashing on me, so I checked it out from AmigaDOS. VirusChecker II claimed it has the French bootblock virus, while DMS said it was the NoVirus bootblock. In any case, I reinstalled it with 1.3 bootblock. It still hung at track 55 regardless of which config I used (except for 3.x, which just gurus...) But it is indeed the right game, since the credits in the binary mentions David Darling.

I fiddled and fiddled and finally got it to work with WinUAE 0.8.16r4 (nope, not even WinFellow worked for me), but it was tricky. For anyone interested, I used 1.3 rom, 512k chip (only), Match A500 Speed/More Compatible, OCS, and disabled all drives except for DF0: - some of those may be variable, but the turning point in making it work for me with those settings was when I set it to OCS instead of ECS. So there ya go. Shame the game is dire, but I knew it would be. :cheese

So thanks again, Shadowen. The check is in the mail. :D

BeelzebubUK
26 January 2002, 02:58
Were the 2 I uploaded any good ?? When I've got time I'll sit down with yours and Codys lists and go through all the CDs.

Twistin'Ghost
26 January 2002, 11:06
BeelzebubUK, which games were those? I just recently updated my list here and decided I wanted to credit those who have located these games for me. I'm surprised I remembered as many as I have, but sometimes I lose my notes and forget who ups what. That especially happens when I download the games and don't have time to test them, then they sit in a special directory for testing them. If I'm having too busy a week (or two), this gets deferred and by the time I test them, I've lost the uploader info.

In any case, thanks for the support. Lemme know which games though and it will defrag my memory. :D

26 January 2002, 17:36
OK, I'd checked the two Tracksuit Manager DMS's: they are Tracksuit Manager and Tracksuit Manager II (the hack of the original Goliath Games release). The A-Train files were the Skid Row crack of the game A-Train. So I am still on the hunt for a crack of A-Train Construction Kit and Tracksuit Manager '91.

Thanks for trying, though!

CodyJarrett
26 January 2002, 17:40
I don't think A-Train Construction Kit was cracked, because there is no protection to crack.

I got the original disks with a boxed copy of A-Train.

Twistin'Ghost
26 January 2002, 19:43
I can't remember, but I thought there was a manual lookup protection. Of course I could be wrong...I haven't checked in a while.

DrBong
28 January 2002, 16:02
@Twistin'

No problems about Italia '90. What version of Virus Checker II are you using? I use Virus Executor or Virus Z II/III here and neither reported any virus. Admittedly the older virus checkers may report that the NoVirus bootblock is possibly a virus, but I'm surprised it specified it was an actual virus.

Twistin'Ghost
28 January 2002, 16:18
Well, I believe I have a newer version of Virus Checker II running, but I take its reports with a grain of salt, as it has identified other bootblocks are virus' which aren't (or which I believe aren't). Likewise, DMS does the same thing sometimes. I installed over it because the NoVirus bootblock was not needed on the disk regardless of whether it's a virus or not.

I was looking through a listing of the articles and reviews from Amiga Computing and ran across a game that I don't recall ever hearing about before. It's called....erm...well, it's called Birdie

:laughing

Apparently, the game was given an 80% (!) score in issue Volume 1, Number 6 (November 1988). Anybody ever heard of this game? Or does anybody have this issue that can scan the review (or at least provide some info on the game)?

TIA

CodyJarrett
27 February 2002, 15:23
It's probably the "Leader Board Birdie" compilation, which includes "Leader Board" and "Leader Board Tournament". It was released in 1988. I've got an original.

CodyJarrett
28 February 2002, 07:40
That's on MIA listing too - maybe we should combine the two and make a single comprehensive listing...

Chuckles
28 February 2002, 09:09
Interesting ... I saw the box scan for Tracker and it looked awfully familiar. I did a bit of poking around and found that I have a poster with that exact same picture that came with a game that I bought long ago ... but I don't have any game by that name in my collection. I wonder if this might be another of those games that was released under more than one title. Unfortunately, nothing on the poster gives the slightest clue.

Tim Janssen
28 February 2002, 14:23
Are you really sure about Tracker being released on Amiga? I have an advert of this game in the March 1987 issue of CU Amiga and it gives no info about a possible Amiga conversion.

Warlock99
28 February 2002, 19:23
I'm 100% sure this one exists, although it is extremely rare. I have it from a reliable source that there is some problem copying the original due to the protection, the person in question had payed a considerable sum for it if i remember correctly.

Dude, there is a scan of the box that has an Amiga sticker on it. This scan came from Exotica and that site got it from some collector who scanned all kinds of his rarities for that site. It exists and that scan is from an existing copy.

DrBong
03 April 2002, 18:16
It is also currently being fixed by one of the WHDLoad patchers according to the website.

Codetapper
03 April 2002, 23:43
I can confirm Tracker exists as I have made up the WHDLoad version :) The disk format is custom MFM and there is a "word from the manual" protection aswell. When it first loads it even gives you the opportunity to make a backup of your disk!

Anyway the WHDLoad version is being tested by the original supplier and another friend and it seems to be working OK, just save games left to finish. The three of us are also working on an HTML version of the manual complete with colour screenshots ripped from the WHDLoad version (the original was only black and white!)

Converting it to ADF will be a bit of a pig as the disk format itself is quite messy and the saving routines would also need to be changed (as the same routine which loads save games loads the actual game, and if it is cracked to adf the load routine will be modified!)...

I bought a cache of Amiga stuff (mostly junk) from a guy this weekend and among his disks were copies of Deep Space and the Oh No More Lemmings add-on. Unfortunately neither dumps with DISK2FDI/DMS, so I am attempting to dump them with rawread, but my A500 keeps guruing at about track 60. Let me know what else you think I should try.

Twistin'Ghost
24 June 2002, 02:36
Hmmm...I get the impression here that these aren't actually cracks and were copied with either a parameter copier or with a hardware copier. I thought I had a tutorial on cracking Deep Space somewhere. I'll look for it and get back with you. Never mind, just found it. This is text from the Mirror package:

Brataccas,
Arena,
Deep Space
- Synchronized Tracks

1. Check each disk with error check noting which tracks have no errors.
2. Use Raw Tracks module to copy only the tracks that have no errors. Use method as described in Raw Tracks example #1, copying standard tracks. The Raw Tracks module is the only one that synchronizes all tracks.
So you'd also need the Mirror program, as well, although I presume you have this.

EDIT: Actually, I'm not even sure if this *cracks* the game or just dupes it. At least one of those other parm copiers copies it, and possibly one of them even disables the protection, though.

It's in the Zone now.

The Lemmings add-on will not dump without crashing and I think it may be a corrupt disk. About 1/4 of these disks were corrupt and looked like they were used as drink coasters at a preschool.

Anybody wanna buy 500 or so really crappy disks?!?!? :nervous

Rawread...I have forgotten what this tool is, what it requires and all that. I searched EAB on rawread and found some great threads I'd forgotten about, but no real details on where to get it, what it's included with, or any of that other jazz. And yeah, I have some originals that are on my MIA, but I'd have to look to see what they are. :)

I'm going to give Terrorpods a whirl tonight and hope its protection is basic enough that rawread can handle it.

Yes, please update your MIA list and distinguish between Missies/Nessies, and also reply to your PMs!:cool

Looking forward to the possibility of a (copyable) disk-based Terrorpods! My MIA list already has the Missies/Nessies split, it's other stuff that's not yet finished. I have also included an Edutainment Wants List in there, as well. That one, although not yet complete, was a lot of work to compile.

PM's: yes, there are several PM's that I have not yet responded to, but will do so tonight (after consuming mass quantities of tea).

You realize of course that your MIA list (and Cody's) is destined to become the definitive reference for this stuff. I think RCK should let you spruce them up as HTML pages in the tradition of the FBI's most wanted fugitives (http://www.fbi.gov/mostwant/topten/fugitives/fugitives.htm).

I am happy to be able to say again, check the Zone! Let's see who's first to reply with double-barrel screenshots.

@Twistin' Ghost

I hadn't looked at this thread in quite a while, till the recent activity drew my attention to it again. That prompted me to peruse the MIA list again, and I realized that I had a cracked version of Atomix on hand. I've uploaded it to the zone after making sure I could get it to run with WinUAE, so that should strike one more off of your list.

@Dpainter
Thanks for the uploads of Deep Space, Terrorpods and Arctic Fox. All three have been on my list of titles that I have on my A500, but had yet to get working on WinUAE. My original of Deep Space was dead from bit rot (though I still had one working copy), and I had already dumped Terrorpods and sent the dumps to Galahad. The last I saw, his whdload crack was at 90% complete. As for Arctic Fox, I've had a number of dumps of it, but have yet to get any of them to work. I'll give this one a shot though, and if I can get it working, I'll let you know.

Hey, will check out the AF, although I think this has been discussed in a different thread earlier in the day. We're getting closer, that's for sure.

In my updated MIA, it kinda precludes the other two MIA lists on the board, because I have merged them. Initially, my original list I passed on to Cody (after convincing him that the titles really existed) and then I decided to make my own MIA later down the road. Now, I find that it's cumbersome having to refer to three lists (mine, Cody's and scifi's...which I assume he is working on completing), so I have taken their lists and integrated them into one master MIA. Plus it eliminates some of the titles left on Cody's that have been found, as well as scifi's Found list.

A special page for this Wanted list might be a good idea. On such a page, more details could be provided, including ads, coverscans, etc. that might help resolve the issue of the games' existance.

Thanks, Chuckles. I'll take a look at that Atomix. Even as this game may have only one actual title, there are clearly two different title screens which display the C/X differently. Would be nice to have the odd screen!

And yeah, I think my Deep Space (and an old copy of Terrorpods) died of bit rot, as well. I've since bought a clean original of Terrorpods, but you rarely ever run across an original of Deep Space (and when you do, it tends to be pricey!)

Hmmm ... I'm not 100% sure that the Atomix that I uploaded is what you were looking for after all, Twist. The intro calls it "Atomix", but when you get to the title screen, it calls it "Atomic". It is a Thalion release, and I was thinking that "Atomic" was a different game entirely. Sorry about that.

@Twistin' Ghost

I'm near completion of my MIA Listing. It should be up in the beggining of the following week!
;)

It's really difficult, as you see, because I had to exclude many titles that were included in compilations! You see, I'm a little behind in this field!
:cool

Hey, tell me about it! I have spent the last two days diligently cleaning up my MIA list, adding to it, making corrections, making it more presentable, verifying, etc. Unfathomable task, indeed. And even when I post it (probably within a few hours), it's still beta and missing quite a lot of stuff. But I had to stop somewhere! :cool

Oh, and I have some more request fills from your list that I'll get to in just a bit...

What a SWEETHEART!!! Am I right? Is this guy the livin' end or what? (EAB audience applauds in a loud roar)

Seriously, I thank you again. I have downloaded the files and will have to finish reading the last two days worth of messages before I can delve into them, lest I crash and lose my place on the message superhighway. I have butterflies in my stomach with anticipation. Plus I just can't wait to see what the heck Fred Loves Gary is! :laughing

And for those non-TOSEC non-requests, I'll send up nome nice new goodies I have picked up this week (once my system crashes and I get an hour recharge...) :rolleyes

BTW, I'm posting a "split" version of Oh No! More Lemmings add-on. By split I mean I dumped tracks 0-50 to one file and 51-79 to another, otherwise my A500 runs out of RAMdisk. These files have headers, the exact length of which I can only guess. The real trick is that the add-on requires an original Lemmings disk, not a crack (as far as I can tell) so that means we'll probably need a raw dump of that as well. But for now at least you can take a couple of title screen shots (use NTSC chipset).

I did it for you.
I unDMS'd the disk, and voilą:
CRC = 2b005a11!

That's
Hyperforce (1989)(Prism Leisure)[cr VF].zip

Sorry for having to spoil the party again...;)

"fred loves gary.dms"

= Hyperforce & Artificial Dreams, both cracked by Vision Factory (VF). YES.
A compilation disk. Already in TOSEC, but wrongly it's been put into the main games section.
Twist, please test it too, so we can get got another witness. ;)

Ian

Artifical Dreams is on Twistin's MIA list, it's right there near the top in the first post to this thread.

I'm sure Twistin' will be most pleased;) more so when he realises he probably had this game for some time:laughing

I think DPainter wanted Twistin' to get a shock when he inserted the DMS without actually knowing what he was looking at.

But now it's been spoiled, oh well, I really wonder just how long it would have taken Twistin' to test this file anyway, probably a few months knowing the hecktic shedule he has:D

28 June 2002, 23:59
Ian: can YOU at least confirm that the "fred loves gary.dms" converted to ADF is 100% identical to the TOSEC Hyperforce/AD compilation? DPainter wanted to say in a kind way that I'm telling rubbish here...:rolleyes But I know I don't. I *do* know how to test stuff.
*not offended, but slightly irritated*

Your missing what DPainter is getting at, your first post was with the TOSEC name, this is what he was questioning (I think)

Your second post is correct, as you have mentioned the second game on this disk, which is in Twistin' MIA list:)

I will check the disk against my TOSEC version, but that's not what the issue was:) (It is the same disk)

andreas
29 June 2002, 00:06
OK. You're right. He might have wanted to express subliminally that the TOSEC name is wrong, and that he discovered another game *ON* that disk.
[EDIT] Now we have to get this game TO WORK. Good luck everybody... ;)

You said you spoiled it, but then you failed to report that Artificial Dreams was on the disk. That's why I assumed you hadn't booted up the disk all the way, just like 99% of us here who never realized the game was already in TOSEC.

I'm sure there will be many more examples of this as people sift through the TOSEC collection, but I'm going to continue to post requests and not use the correct name because 1) it's more fun for Twistin' and 2) right now I'm sick of renaming things to the TOSEC standard. :cool

Yeah, I still had the surprise cuz I'd not read the spoiler by the time I'd booted the disk! :great

Likewise, I couldn't get the game to boot (using 8.8r8).

Well, it's a bit old and all that, but I am having so many system issues, that is probably why I can't run the lastest version. As soon as I get everything on it backed up, I am gonna blow it all away and start over with a second PC I have here.
