CodyJarrett
14 November 2001, 11:48
Okay, try this one:

Amigaboy
14 November 2001, 11:49
um...

Turbo Trax ?
Scalextric?

CodyJarrett
14 November 2001, 11:53
Turbo Trax by Microdeal is correct!

CodyJarrett
14 November 2001, 11:56
And this one?

Amigaboy
14 November 2001, 12:12
Never seen that one before

Big-Byte
14 November 2001, 12:33
Is it Loom?

Amigaboy
14 November 2001, 12:37
Nah. Loom looks nicer than that :cool

Hey, wasnt this game MIA? giovacappo was looking for it... how did you get the screeny?

Drake1009
14 November 2001, 19:59
Yeah I'd like to know how I could get an ADF copy of turbo trax, my original refuses to play on my A1200 and I can't ADF it.

CodyJarrett
15 November 2001, 08:09
The screenshot is from an original of Turbo Trax. It's still MIA, but not so urgent. We have a screenshot for the database, but an ADF would be nice.

CodyJarrett
15 November 2001, 08:10
Here's the second game above. Grimblood by Mike Singleton.

Amigaboy
15 November 2001, 08:54
ok. Here's my little contribution. C64 people should know it well. I have no idea if it was a big game on the Amiga

This is pretty easy :D

CodyJarrett
15 November 2001, 09:12
Cabal!

Amigaboy
15 November 2001, 09:51
Yup :D

CodyJarrett
15 November 2001, 11:40
Try this one!

Tim Janssen
15 November 2001, 11:54
Samurai,
I saw an advert of Grimblood once in Zzap! magazine.
The game appeared in 1990 under Mastertronic's 16 Blitz budget label on Amiga and Atari ST.
I had it once until the disc it was on went corrupt. Grimblood is a 'who-has-done-it'/Cluedo type of game with different outcomes everytime you play the game.

Cody,
Is it Crazy Seasons?

CodyJarrett
15 November 2001, 11:55
I'm not sure when Grimblood was released - probably 1988-89 or something like that.

Mad Seasons is getting close!

Amigaboy
15 November 2001, 12:27
Grimblood and Crazy Seasons are at The Dreamzone

Turbo Trax has not been ADFed yet, and is on a multitude of request lists

I have it though (original). It has an orange box :)

I've put Grimblood and Crazy Seasons in The Zone.

Twistin'Ghost
15 November 2001, 14:15
Grimblood was released in 1990.

\\UPDATE
I forgot to mention that the programmer for Grimblood (Mike Singleton) went on to work on the games Lord of Chaos, Midwinter 1 & 2, Ashes of Empire, and Starlord. For you fact fans...

Warlock99
17 November 2001, 01:29
Didn't know the great Mike Singleton had an hand in Starlord twisty! Shame on him! It seemed a bit of a mess on the amiga version, not sure if the pc version was any better.

Here is Name That Game 4

CodyJarrett
06 December 2001, 10:19
And number 5

CodyJarrett
06 December 2001, 10:20
Finally, number 6

Tim Janssen
06 December 2001, 10:30
I know number four. I have number four in my possesion. This is a stinking horizontal scrolling platform game by Dinamic in 1993 and is written by people with Dutch names. It starts in a forest with too many brown colors, then a castle and ends somewhere on the Northpole. The Game-over screen is beautiful drawn and bounces its way all over the screen but it has nothing to do with the actual game. I have made it only to level 2 because the sprites and traps are corrupt in this level. The only problem is... I don't know the name of this game anymore! It is called... Turi's Revenge! No, Sword quest.. errr.. I don't know it! Aaargh! :scream

Tim Janssen
07 December 2001, 12:27
Since no-one else is participating in this funny gamesquiz I'll do another guess. I think number 6 is taken from Denton Design's Wreckers. Do I win a prize?

Walker
07 December 2001, 12:45
Correct!

You win a color radio!

CodyJarrett
07 December 2001, 13:28
Hey, stop giving away my prizes! Yeah, Wreckers is correct for 6...

CodyJarrett
07 December 2001, 14:38
Nope!

oldpx
07 December 2001, 17:58
Can number 5 be Perihelion? It probably is not, that doesn't fit your tastes does it? The gameplay was not good etc.

MethodGit
07 December 2001, 20:32
I recognise that Number 4 game from somewhere!!! ;) I haven't played it, but I remember reading (short) reviews on it in several Amiga magazines!

Dammit, where's my AP48??!!! It had a mini-review on it and it should have the title... I gotta try and find it...

andreas
08 December 2001, 23:22
Well ............. Number 5 is VERY tough.
Well it looks like it's some sort of adventure ... maybe Cruise for a Corpse? The story takes place on board a ship which is obviously made of wood ;)

MethodGit
08 December 2001, 23:32
I refuse to believe that the Number 5 game is even an Amiga game. The graphics look like something for another machine!

Is this a trick question, Cody? ;)

oldpx
09 December 2001, 00:00
Can number 5 be from Elvira the arcade game? or some gfx from beast series? Maybe Lure of the Temptress.

I don't believe any of these. It looks quite different, like part of a box scan :p

CodyJarrett
10 December 2001, 10:41
Number 5 is from an Amiga game, but is part of the titlescreen...

It's a well-known game.

Walker
10 December 2001, 11:07
First letter of game #5 is "A".

[powered by the coming soonish Amiga games database]

Tim Janssen
10 December 2001, 12:07
Sjeez, the Cody & Walker quiz goes on and on.
Here is my guess.. First I thought Number 5 was taken from an overhead racing game like ATR but now I think it is from Ambermoon

B.T.W. where is my color-radio?

CodyJarrett
10 December 2001, 15:17
Nope!

CodyJarrett
11 December 2001, 15:27
Okay - number 4 was Rackney's Island. Number 5 was Alien Breed 3D (the titlescreen).

Here is number 7:

CodyJarrett
11 December 2001, 15:27
Number 8:

CodyJarrett
11 December 2001, 15:27
Number 9:

Tim Janssen
11 December 2001, 16:00
Number 4 was Rackney's Island? The name of the game was on the tip of my tongue.

Okay, let's guess the names of the new games:
Nr 7: Benefactor?
Nr 8: Space Quest 2?
Nr 9: Streetfighter 1?

CodyJarrett
11 December 2001, 16:13
No, no and no!

CodyJarrett
11 December 2001, 17:06
No. 7 is a hippopotamus (I think).

No. 9 is from a commercial game.

Akira
12 December 2001, 18:05
No. 7 is Mikro Mortal tennis, methinks...

Linford
13 December 2001, 17:50
Is numer 9 Karate Kid 2? :D

CodyJarrett
13 December 2001, 18:03
Yes, number 7 is Mikro Mortal Tennis and no, number 9 isn't the Karate Kid 2!

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 11:49
It returns! Name this game (number 10)...

oldpx
21 April 2002, 11:51
Space Hulk?

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 11:51
And this:

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 11:52
And finally this:

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 11:53
Nope, not Space Hulk.

oldpx
21 April 2002, 11:54
The last one looks like napalm.

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 11:55
Yeah, 12 is Napalm!

Amigaboy
21 April 2002, 12:26
Let's make this interesting, shall we?

If anyone can name where the following screen is taken, I will provide ONE of the following:

MFM Warp images of Humans 2
MFM Warp image of Turbo Trax (Microdeal)
ADF image of Granny's Garden (Amiga version of course)

The catch....

You only get 1 guess for each person. I will not say who is right until the end. If multiple people get it, the first person to guess right will get to choose which he / she wants.

The competition ends Monday, 22 April 2002 at 8:30pm (Sydney, Australia time)

Twistin'Ghost
21 April 2002, 12:29
No fair! What if someone doesn't pick "Granny's Garden"? :laughing

Twistin'Ghost
21 April 2002, 13:56
I reckon my one guess for the Amigaboy contest will be Fury of the Furries.

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 13:59
No, 10 isn't Battleships, but the gun barrels idea is close.

Ian
21 April 2002, 15:07
Is it Moonshine Racers?

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 15:36
Correctamundo! 11 is Moonshine Racers...

oldpx
21 April 2002, 15:47
I can't guess your screenshot amigaboy but it looks like a coke can lying on the asphalt floor probably near a roadsign or something. It must be a beat-em up. It would be better if the image was a gif file

Linf
21 April 2002, 17:31
Number 10 reminds me a bit of Death Mask.

That sounds like Metro-Cross too me, did that ever get released for the Amiga??

If it did, that's my guess Amigaboy.

Drake1009
21 April 2002, 19:08
Well even though I'm probably wrong it would be a waste to not guess at random. I'm guessing that the small area Amigaboy posted was from final fight.

Dastardly
21 April 2002, 19:13
Ok, just a guess but, I think Amigaboys pic is from Skidz.

oldpx
21 April 2002, 19:25
You know Drake, I was thinking about Final Fight but changed my mind because this iimage looks more amiga-generated. AFAIK final fight's graphics were converted from the arcade version.

This image made me remember a beat'em up that I saw the screenshot of, in a local game magazine a few years ago. I just searched and found that issue. It says the name of the game is Surfing Ninja and there are actualy a few screenshots but I haven't seen this game anywhere. So I claim Amigaboy's screenshot is from "Surfing Ninja" (if such a game exists!)

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 19:51
Linf - Death Mask is wrong, but close.

oldpx
21 April 2002, 19:53
Close? Then it must be Doom!

Linf
21 April 2002, 19:56
Hmmmm.... I'll try once more, Fears? ;)

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 20:00
If you guys go through all the first-person shoot-'em-ups then you might eventually get it right! :0

oldpx
21 April 2002, 20:08
Gloom?

"first-person shoot-'em-ups" ---> I loved this term ;)

th4t1guy
21 April 2002, 20:31
could no. 5 be Alien Breed?

blackcornflake
21 April 2002, 20:32
Quizmaster Cody - is No10 Alien Breed 3D?

Drake1009
21 April 2002, 22:31
Well Burseg. I know it was probably wrong, but at least that's one less beat em up guessed wrong right? For all I know it could be Ninja gaiden. Bad dudes / Dragon ninja or some semi static beat em up. But since I have no idea what it is I guessed final fight, mostly because I like that game even though I still haven't been able to get my Amiga to run it.

CodyJarrett
21 April 2002, 23:10
th4t1guy - yes, number 5 is Alien Breed. The titlescreen from Alien Breed 3D, to be exact.

blackcornflake - no, number 10 isn't Alien Breed 3D! Let's see, we have Death Mask, Fears, Doom, Gloom and Alien Breed 3D - not many more first person shoot-'em-ups to try! ;)

RetroMan

EDIT - Damn Burseg has been goal poaching again :(

The game you are thinking of would be Surf Ninjas...

That's it! Thanks Twist :great

edit: I don't seem to have it. Could you upload it?

Drake1009
22 April 2002, 08:10
Upping my version now.

Edit : ok note to self. When upload limit is 3 MB don't try to upload 8. I'll split it up. HD version. I really should check my zips before I upload.

22 April 2002, 14:53
Well. Here we are ladies, gents and the rest of you :D

The answer to the pic is....

Neuromancer

I know it was almost impossible to guess Neuromancer from a tiny can...There's no need to tell me ;)

It's next to the lawbot in case you don't see it

I loved Ian's answer though. It DOES look like something from MetroCross :cool

Ian
22 April 2002, 14:55
Damn, so no-one wins:eek

Ah-well, I guess grannies garden will never surface now, but I can't decide if that's good or bad;)

I don't think the graphics artist on the game would have got that one AmigaBoy... :spin

If you have the version released by Microdeal in 1988, then yes. If it's the Arcane version, then it's easily downloadable from various web sites.

alkis21
19 August 2002, 12:24
I'm guessing it's the latter as it felt much more recent than 1988.. I'll check though.

Drake1009

Drake1009

Well I've got the original so it isn't that much of a bother to me. Just haven't hooked up my A500 to the TV since the computer's MPEG out is taking up the connection.

And I believe cody posted a game which was essentially the same.

Not sure, is #5 the german RPG 'Das schwarze Auge'?

Is that a remake of the pen-and-paper RPG? I can't see it in the HOL.. Was there ever an English version?

Update: Oh, I see Realms Of Arkania: Blade Of Destiny is the UK version. Hunting for it now. Ooh, the memories of playing "Het Oog des Meesters" (Dutch version of the RPG)!

Update2: I didn't find a lot on the net... Would anyone care to lob the UK version in the zone? (It's apparently also known as Blade Of Destiny: Realms Of Arkania) Ta!
