My Amiga B2000 is relegated to the loft along with three boxes consisting of about 200 Amiga games or so. Due to it's size I have decided to use my laptop, and leave the big beast to collect dust. I bought the CD containing the ROM etc. I am now trying to find some good ROM sites. I have found a couple which have still got active links, but the selection is rather small. Can anyone please help and give me some good web addresses for ROMS
many thanks

Well I assume you´re searching for ADF´s ..... please don´t talk about ROMS when you mean games (am I right AKIRA :D:D:D) you may try these sites for *some* games ;)
http://www.pe2000.net
http://jambo.abime.net (biggest Amiga Search Engine)
And if you are searching for anything special that you cannot find anywhere on the Net, feel free to post in the GAMES/REQUEST Forum, you surely could pickup your game within an hour or so in THE ZONE
have fun on the board .......... cu ....

Two points pacuk01:
1- Amiga games are ADF and NOT roms.
2- Find all the games you want by reading the Annoucement (http://eab.abime.net/announcement.php?s=&forumid=10)
thanks :)

Sorry if I have offended anyone. I did not intend to upset you. I don't appreciate having the p*ss taken out of me either.

Some people are very touchy mate :)
The reason they came down on you was because there is a FAQ (the announcement) intended for someone in exactly your situation.

I stand corrected. As I said I am sorry to you all for wasting your time.
Thanks for your help.

Gawd, what a shitty attitude! The guy asks where to find stuff, he is given the information and is corrected on calling Amiga disks roms. So he cops an attitude.
@pacuk01
No one said their time was wasted, nobody said they were offended, nobody was upset and only you know if the piss was taken out of you or not. If you think this was getting attacked, stick around...

I will. But I have another one for you------ The game I loved was Batman The Movie, I have got some zips which I have unzipped. I have since found other copies, and I still get the same problem when I put the adf file into the fictional drive. It comes up with an error. I also found an adz file and I haven't a clue what an adz file is

Found info on Batman elsewhere, so hopefully it will work, but what is an adz file?

Hi
ADZ files are just ADF's that have been GZip'd (packed zip style)
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1513 has a good bit of banter worth reading which may help.
Just like a few in that thread i'm with 'un-zipping' em and using ADF's outright. (Or standard zipped not gzipped) :)
cya :D

I know each camp has their reason for using adz or rar or whatever, but I really wish people would just stick with one standard, zip. Yes, rar compresses better, but do those extra several bytes really matter THAT much in this day and age. It's not as if we're storing the archives on floppy. I prefer uniform standards, but it seems this will always be a pipe dream. And both adz and rar create various problems (for me, at least, so someone else must have issues besides me).
As for integrating the DMS arguement here, I keep my original DMS files (I don't convert the adf's I get to DMS!), but it's not as if I post DMS files when they are requested. In fact, some of the requests I get, I have in only DMS format from my old collection, so I always take the time to convert them to adf/zip first. I run them through the TOSEC database and if they don't match, I do an ersatz name. The reason is that some people may need the infos from these filenames, since not everyone has a database like I do. Those that don't care can rename the files at their leisure. This way everyone can be catered to. Zip is, by and large, the most common archiver on most every machine out there, so nobody ever has to deal with how to get into these files.
My rant...

Pack, try ADF opus. It converts ADZ and DMS files into ADF's.
Do a google search.

Just a reminder:
This section of the EAB was started so that a beginner could ask any question that they wanted without fear of being flamed.
That includes asking questions that are answered in the FAQs. That includes asking for 'ROMs' instead of 'ADFs'.
The section is separated from the rest of the board so that anyone can ignore them if they don't want to read them and someone with more patience can answer the question.
Anything even remotely unfriendly that is posted here is in the wrong section!

But also bear in mind that even here, the files are still ADF's and not ROM's. Even RCK pointed that out to the 'newbie'. Everything else has been discussion and analysis of the situation. Once it was made clear that being defensive over that correction wasn't neccesary, everything else has been the usual expansion of the original topic.
Also, newbies have to be reminded to cool off, as well. That, as well as the response may appear to be remotely unfriendly, even though it isn't really.

All I'm saying is that it's a good idea to be extra careful about what we say here, because what seems to be a reasonable response from some who has heard the same newbie question a hundred times, can easily seen to be unfriendly to someone who is new to the scene.
Being friendly doesn't mean that we can't point out the difference between ROMs and ADFs.

pacuk01 if you are wondering what has happened to your thread, it was split and half of it was moved to here.
