This thread is for games which refuse to work, perhaps because of emulator incompatibility, corrupt ADF or incorrect settings:
Cavitas (Nite Time Games) --problems beyond titlescreen (bought original - WHDLoad install in progress)
Championship Manager 2 (Domark)
Demolition (Kingsoft) --Problems beyond titlescreen
Maelstrom (Empire)
Operation Spruance (?) --Problems beyond titlescreen
Shadow Of The Third Moon AGA (Titan) --Problems beyond titlescreen
Tube Warriors AGA (Dynabyte) --By disabling fast mem can get as far as the game, but the bottom of the screen is corrupt
Virtual Karting 1&2 AGA (OTM&Islona) --Graphics displayed incorrectly in-game

@CodyJarrett: I forgot something: You have to set WinUAE and the game to NTSC !

Interesting! I've been trying to get this game working for some time.

It works 100%

Tie Break is a quest of itself!
I tryed it for month, but this game is with current emulating software not playable.

I think we might need to use WinUAE 0.8.15 Rel. 0 unofficial release to run Tie-Break.

Cody-the reason you cannot play D Day is because you have a messed up first disk. Does it stop on track 73? On the opening scene with the beach? Is yours the French version?
I will up the English and French working versions when I get home.
Meanwhile, I refer you to this thread.
http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1580
Hanse Die Expedition I have working in emulation, both on ADF and Hard Drive. I'll up my configs and if neccesary, versions also.
The Prophet I am having the same trouble with.
CodyJarrett
08 November 2001, 17:34
Thanks Fred, I think that I lost track of some of that stuff about D-Day.
The Hanse uploads would be good too.
Akira
08 November 2001, 17:54
I uploaded a Hanse game some time ago, did that one not work?
BTw, Super Street Fighter 2 AGA looks liek it has a bit of the screen cut... quite strange, but still looks as good as the arcade!

I am also certain I have gotten Fugger and Fire Brigade working as well. Can't wait to get home and check. Is fire brigade a war strategy game?
Operation Spruance (aka USS John Young 2), is hopeless. The demo can , however be played, thanks to Ian's help. But the regular missions CANNOT be accessed.

I just tried Teenage Queen (both Fairlight and Joy cracks) and it works with WinUAE under KS1.3, 512K chip, 512K Slow. Not exactly a great game though :).
EDIT: When asked for the data disk, just eject and reinsert the (only) game disk.

I have the typical compact with One On One, as well as the standalone disk - one or both of them I got to work back in the days of Rockie and Shane Monroe. In fact, Shane made me a config file for getting the game to work, which it did. But I just tried it out and the game doesn't get past the Electronic Arts logo again, so...
So the adf's probably aren't dodgy. All of that old E/A stuff is a pain in the ass! They should work on your friend's A1000 or any pre-1.3 machine.
//UPDATE: I got it to work with that config. I was trying it in NTSC here, but I had it working originally in PAL before. The trick is to wait for the game to load. It appears to be hung on a certain track, but it actually isn't (indicated by the screen gradually getting darker until the demo screen appears). I couldn't actually figure out how to control the character, however.

Ok Cody and Walker (the silent partner in this endeavor, I take it:))
The following have been uploaded:
1.D Day (Loricels) English & French. To play the game, these fixed ADF's will help. just use the ol' eject-return to emulation-F12-insert -Ok trick with this one!. Use DF:0 only.
2.Hanse Die Expedition ADF's and HD version. To play from floppy,
you MUST start from The Workbench, AGA at least 3.1.
3.Die Fugger with config and instructions. Very simple to play this. use Ecs 13 BTTR config or an A 500 config. The game asks you to match a letter/number code with a color. On the first screen, the combos of Number/Letters and the corresponding colors are given to you. Problem is, you cannot switch back to this screen when the game asks you for the first match. I simply opened the game in either WinUAE or WinFellow, kept the first screen open, (froze screen), and opened the game in another emulator (You can now have multiple versions of WinUAE running with 8.17 r2 and 3)..and voila! just do the match. Not too hard this solution.
4.Fixed (thanks to Ian) versions of Operation Spruance and its American counterpart, USS John Young 2.
The problem with these 2 babies is that, although the training demo now works, there is no way to access the missions. Too bad, its a great game for the PC.
5.Fire Brigade is easy. Just wait until screen after tank loads. Right click anywhere on screen and hold. On title bar near top of screen, commands appear..File...Windows....Reports...Staff. Start game from file, of course. See pic.
Oh..and all save for Hanse use ECS 13 config from BTTR! WinUAE 8.14 or 8.17 preferred.

I Cannae Get Her Workin' Capt'n
This is a bit of a story, so hold on to your hats.
I was in Prague in summer '00, and while there went to see "Chicken Run".
But there was a problem. Because it was in English I was laughing at all the jokes before the local audience could read the subtitles. And there is one scene in which one of the chickens says in a Scottie accent "She cannae take much more captain, she's gonnae blow!".
This joke would have trouble making an average British audience laugh, but I was in stitches when I heard this - and no-one else in the cinema got the joke!
I have never felt more amusingly aloof in my life.

A maelstrom is a huge, strong whirlpool.

Fuzzball - Sprite collision detection not working in WinFellow. I know that WinUAE handles it 100%, but I'd also like to play this System 3 game thru Fellow!
Lethal Weapon - Graphics problems on status bar in WinUAE.
SimCity 2000 - Just too bloody slow in WinUAE, even with JIT enabled (ok, this is kind of debatable as to whether this should be regarded as an emulator problem or not).
F17 Challenge HD (from Lost Bullet) - Simply resets the system every time I try to run it, basically. Don't know why.

The Reason why Championship Manager 2 will not work on emulators is that the cracked version is a direct duplicate of the original (MFM as well!).
The MFM format was massive, and the disk juggling you had with 4 disks was bad enough, but because of the size of the format, the final game would have been 6 disks!
So, I was able to duplicate the protection completly, and thats what the Fairlight CM2 Installer does, is to write out the original on your blank disks.
If anyone is interested, I will upload the final version of CM2 (Hard drive), which was eventually compatible with o4o/o6o processors, something the original coders could not do.
Whether or not it will work for emulators is another thing.
The game claims to be AGA only, but, its AGA only in its memory requirements (2 Meg chip ram), so, as long as you can configure 2 meg chip ram, and around 4-5meg fast mem you should be able to run it...... but I warn you...... its gonna be slooooowwwwwwwww

USS John Young II: If I understood correctly, the problem is that pressing key '2' on title screen doesn't do anything?
Unfortunately same happens with my real A500 so I can't see why this game should work better on an emulator :)
Zool 2 AGA and Tube Warriors AGA: fast RAM must be disabled.
BTW: Could someone add better problem descriptions? "Problems beyond titlescreen" doesn't help debugging much...

Yes, and Game Of Harmony is a BROKEN DISK!!
Transferred by yours truly in the year of the Lord 2000 to an ordinary A500 ... same problem with black screen. YES, this image from the internet is broken and we need another version. Trust me or give it a try by transferring it yourself. I am very surprised if you get this image to work on the real thing. :)
Cody or Twist, maybe some of you just happen to have an image with a different CRC than 70dd3308?

Yes he is one of the elite few who gets pre-releases for testing :)
As for Game of Harmony, Cody's adz image is fine. The WHDLoad install is almost complete but one ugly copperlist bug causes an access fault at the start. It doesn't like emulators that game but works fine on my A1200. So don't believe the hype, Game of Harmony works!

As for Game of Harmony, Cody's adz image is fine.
So this version is INCOMPATIBLE with my Amiga it seems!
Cody, it might be that you have *two* versions of this game, at least the one you just uploaded is the same version that I have (CRC = 70dd3308).
And as I said, this version did *not* work on my real Amiga, the behavior was exactly the same as the one on the emulator.
There *is* a second version, I feel it :)
Twistin'Ghost
11 December 2001, 16:05
Well, I have two different zip files of the game and I will upload both. Likely that one of the two (if not both) might have the same crc value, I just don't know how to obtain said value from the files. I don't use WinZip (and have no desire to just for crc values), and I tried to see if these could be obtained from EasyZip 2000 or WinRar, but to no avail.
Any other handy tips for getting crc values that I may be overlooking? Would be nice to eliminate unrecognized non-TOSEC dupes manually.

Yes, it works! :bounce
(even on WinUAE 0.8.8 R8)
Now next one (we've got work to do, haven't we? :))
I just upped Captain Fizz to The Zone. This one has neither worked on any emulator so far nor did it work on the real thing, when I had transferred it back then.
It *could* be a broken image, of course.
CodyJarrett
12 December 2001, 08:29

Hi Cody,
thanks for your version. It turned out that it's exactly the same version that I have.
I tried with 0.8.8 R8 and 0.8.17 R2 - no avail.
I tried to disable drives - no way to get into the actual game.
I don't know what kind of magic you did there to get this to work.
CodyJarrett
21 December 2001, 10:08
Use the WHDLoad install on the ADF and it will run perfectly in WinUAE.
Note that some of the files on the disk have two full stops in them, so if you install the game to a Windows partition, it might not work.
andreas
22 December 2001, 12:56
Thanks for the info.
Nevertheless, you should've added that you've only got it working with WHDLoad ;)
For me, "I've run it in an emulator" means to put the ADF in, make some config settings (if necessary) and play! :)
That's what has been confusing me a little.

Hi, thought I'd bring this thread back to life after several weeks. ;)
New WinUAE problems I've discovered (although they're not quite "new", I've known about them for a while now, but I was hoping the latest version (0.8.17r3) would have fixed these problems, but it doesn't seem to be):
Fantastic Dizzy - rather slow and sluggish during actual gameplay, plus background graphic glitches.
Alien Breed 2 & AB:Tower Assault - both games feature the same situation: good-working OCS/ECS version, but the AGA version has TONS of graphic glitches and, in older WinUAEs, the screen kept shifting back and forth as your character walked/ran across the level.
andreas
21 January 2002, 03:24
in older WinUAEs, the screen kept shifting back and forth as your character walked/ran across the level.
Well ... but that's not really an "AGA" problem.
Same happened in Chaos Engine OCS.
HAPPENED! CHAOS ENGINE IS ABSOLUTELY PERFECT NOW ON 0.8.17! WELL DONE! PLAY IT NOW! :great:great
fodder
12 February 2002, 01:23
has anyone played tower assault past the stores levels?
i am aware of the AGA problems as mentioned above, but whenever the stores level is reached playing the ECS version the display becomes corrupted, the stores level loads but my character can't move or do anything. red and yellow lines flash in the background...
does anyone know if this is a WinUAE problem... i've tested loads of different configs / display settings, yet no joy?
i tried fellow but it wouldn't recognise the second disk...
any ideas?
ps. the version i have is the paradox cracked one, as in the zone... maybe that's the problem (?)
Drake1009
12 February 2002, 06:42
Now that we're in the not quite working area. How about D/Generation AGA? While the OCS version plays without problems the AGA version has a glitch which freezes everything on the 2nd or 3rd floor. Is this a game glitch or something WinUAE can't accpet?

Robocop 3 works, but Robocop 3 doesn't.

To solve the mystery:
Well the only "Robocop 3" that works, is the Robocop 3 Platinum Edition.
It was me who supplied the configuration you can find at Back 2 The Roots (http://www.back2roots.org/Games/Find/?find=robocop%203). It works, but only with the Platinum Edition!
I told Bobic to write it there to avoid confusion, I think he's gonna add this soon.
The Robocop 3 Platinum Edition was cracked, and, afaik, exclusively released by FAIRLIGHT.
Well, Mr. Galahad, you may take over at this point now. :)

@Walker
It might be a good idea to mail this valuable information to the BTTR team (http://www.back2roots.org/About/Email/), what do you think?
As you're the one who found out that (e. g.) Lin Wu works now, you're the one to get the kudos this time, not me. :)

As you can see from the screenshot posted earlier in this thread, Strip Poker 3 works just fine in WinUAE.
BUT, how do you get past that bloody password prompt? My copy is the Skid Row crack, but the intro text says nothing about the password. Does anybody know the password (is it the same for all versions....?) or is there a version without password protection available somewhere?
I don't care much for the game itself, but I need to get some screens from it for the HOL database.
Belgarath
17 March 2002, 13:51
the password isn't there for copy protection purposes it's actually a child lockout feature
the tosec copy has obviously had a password set on it by someone but you can modify the disk to remove the password this next part is taken from the skid row docs to this game
If you forget your password,
you can use the CLI or with Workbench 2.0, delete the s:spsetup file.
Walker
17 March 2002, 18:24
Thanks a lot mate! I deleted the file and the password prompt is gone. A new problem turned up though. As soon as the game begins I get a "Software Error......." message and WinUAE hangs.
Anybody got a working config, or is this error a result of a bad disk?
Belgarath
17 March 2002, 21:24
after deleting the password file i tried it for myself and it worked 1st time. heres the config i used
and i was using winuae 0.8.21 r2

Yep, works, but you should have added that this one needs the NTSC box to be checked in WinUAE!
Walker
18 March 2002, 08:09
@Belgarath: I used your config but it didn't work for me; the game froze at the title screen.

it works perfectly for me, i'll upload the 1st disk that im using, perhaps somehow you damaged the adf when deleting the password file??
look at the pixels on that :D
Walker
18 March 2002, 23:01
Yup, you were right. My ADF must be broken in some way. I tried your copy and it works with a number of different configs.
I guess 7000 years of life experience is good to have sometimes!
Cody, remove Tie-Break from the list because it works with WinUAE 0.8.21 R3:
Any chance of the list being updated??
What games are still a problem?
CodyJarrett
19 May 2002, 10:03
I've removed some of the games which are now working and added a few more notes.
Walker - can you check the list for any games that you have got working?
Looks like you removed them all.
The screenshot from "Penthouse Hot Numbers Deluxe" is taken from an ECS version (4 disks). I checked the HOL database and we have no entry for this. We DO have
Penthouse Hot Numbers (1 disk)
Penthouse Hot Numbers Deluxe AGA (6 disks)
I have the first one, but no AGA version. Can anyone upload it?
Well I noticed Mach3 on your list.
Works fine here:
Would have included screenshot but when I attatched it the piccie was all funny

But it does work
Which emulator/config are you using for Mach3?

I also got Tube Warriors nearly working using Toni's advice earlier about disabling fast mem. The bottom of the screen is corrupted, though.

O[eration Spruance works now? How did you do it Ian?
Magic;)
Quite easy really, by no means does it work perfectly though. All you have to do is start a training mission (Or whatever option 1 is:)) and then press the F-keys in turn until (But I think it's F4) you get to the 3D view, from here the game appears to work fine, I just don't know how to play it any further.
There is another game identical to this that I helped you with before, but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called.
USS something or other I think.

@Cody
Stupid question, but why do you collect those double-screenshots ? You don't just collect them, do you ? Is it for a launcher or something ?
Walker
22 June 2002, 18:27
Cody is out of town for a couple of days, so I'll cover for him here.
From the beginning, the double screenshots were part of Cody's personal database. This later became the main structure in HOL (http://eab.abime.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=19) (Hall Of Light), a project that will end up in a large database of Amiga games with info, screenshots, box scans etc.

Please don't use this thread for your personal game problems. If a game isn't listed in this thread, that means we (the HOL team) already got it working in some way (WinUAE, WinFellow or WHDLoad).
I don't mean to be rude or something here; creating a thread of your own makes it easier to deal with the different game problems.

Walker pretty much said it all - I had always wanted to do a list of all Amiga games, with nice screenshots. After a while I also added the titlescreens of the games too in a standard 640x256 gif.

Does there exist an ADF version of Firestone Course?
TOSEC has only listed the HD version.
Walker
28 August 2002, 05:56
That's the one I used. It can be used without a HD, but as I said you have to change the file structure. If you don't, the course is not found.
Compare the Firestone disk with the original disk B and you'll see what I mean.

Twist said it before in this thread, but I thought I should add some info on "One On One".
Yes, it works. However, the only working version I found is on the compact
Archon & One on One & Archon II (19xx)(PHR-Crew)
To get this version running, use the latest WinUAE (older versions work as well though), OCS12, 512k chip mem only, external drives disabled, More compatible CPU and CPU slider set to 9.
andreas
30 September 2002, 15:56
OK, now make an experiment: Turn 'More compatible' OFF by unchecking the box. It MUST work with 0.8.22 R1, guess why?
Toni wrote it in the changelog. Due to a bug in current version, the 'more compatible' checkbox is ignored! ;)
This will be fixed in next release, just FYI.
Twistin'Ghost
01 October 2002, 00:33
Well, the version of WinUAE that the More Compatible originated on (in this particular config) certainly required that it be ticked on. So many changes and fixes have occured in WinUAE, there's no telling what fix has made this work with that or Match A500 Speed now.
