Do you remember terra cresta on the Amiga ?

Here is an snapshot take from the Mame version (another emulator but for Arcade console only, i hope for you that you know about mame;) )

I remember have buy an original one for Amiga in the past but i don't remember if the name whas the same and where i can find it on the net (in adf format).

I remember another shoot-em all that the name whas 'Impact' that i have played long time with (hard but i whas gone far in the game).

I don't know if this games exist in adf format on the web.

There is a lot of Amiga games that i have played but that i cannot remember titles of it (i know that the is disappear because i dont see anymore.

Like impact for exemple.
What i can remember about impact is that he whas very similair gameplay than Terra Cresta but on earth i think because the color whas mainly blue (for sea) and with big cruiser (maybe i am wrong because i have played A LOT of this sort of shoot-em-up on Amiga and on real arcade machine.
The second level of impact whas with tank and train that shoot on you with big red? laser

Do you remember others games that are missing ?

I dont think Terra Cresta was released for the Amiga. It did have a C64 release.

Hybris on the Amiga is very similar to Terra Cresta.

Yes Akira That is the title of Terra Cresta clone for Amiga.

If i looking in the unsorted adf that i have, find it, but that is too bad, there are sprite errors.
The game is unplayable.

And for Impact, any idea ?

Here is a screenshot Amiga of Hybris:

There is 2 explosion of my ship because some ennemies are invisible

So it is unplayble, is there any other adf that work fine ?

I find the music superb, hear it if you can;)

I don't believe Terra Cresta is on the Amiga, either. But I have a couple of different cracks for Impact, if anyone wants them.

I don't know if the game 'Terra Cresta' is on the Amiga, Twistin'Ghost because it is when i played it on Mame that i remember to have played a game like this on Amiga.

The title whas Hybris, and i have played this game a very long time (3 - 4 months for go on further levels).
Today, i cannot play it (Hybris) because with WinUAE 8.88 there is bad sprites/collision/invisibility and with WinUAE 8.17R3 it is too slow and the sound is bad.

A note for WinUAE develloper: Please start to optimise your code with optimized assembly language because WinUAE is starting to become slower and slower.

About the Impact, Twistin'Ghost , if you can upload yours cracked version i will be happy ;) because i had played very long time with (to level 3 because it is a hard shoot-em up)

OK, done!

08 November 2001, 03:26
Thanks Twistin'Ghost, but that is too bad because the games that you uploaded are Break-out.

The Impact that i spêak about whas a shoot-em up like Hybris but more recent.
I had buy it 3 weeks before i sold my Amiga 520 and it whas a vertical scrolling shoot-em up.

If a remember good, the first level whas mainly based on water (above wather in fact because you are a futuristic fighter) and you must shoot on destroyer, cruisers and aerial units, there whas meaby submarine too but not sure.

This is why i remember the main color of the game (the first level whas hard and i have played without cheating maybee more than 50 time to go through the level).

The second level whas with tanks and train.

I remember it because i played it a lot before sold my Amiga.
The music whas very good.

Don't say that there whas only one copy sold because the game whas a little too hard :confused :nervous

I am sure at 110 % that i have played this game on my Amiga.

OK, well I will keep looking. I actually uploaded those two files from work (logged into my machine and transferred them to the work HD and then uploaded them) so I was unable to actually run them first, so sorry 'bout that. If I have any luck finding the shooter Impact, I will respond here.

Hmm, Hybris is from the same company as Battle Squadron (Innerprise - btw, Battle Squadron is my fav amiga shmup ), and both games have the same trouble running in amiga emulators...

BUT, in the latest Winuae version I tested(Winuae 0.8.16 release 4) , Battle Squadron worked fine (just VEEERRRYY slow, like every game I tried in this Winuae release), so maybe Hybris may also work on it...

I think I ran Hybris okay in an emulator in the past...

@Maverick357

Sorry, dude - no luck on the Impact you speak of. I did, however, find yet another crack of the breakout game (BS1/Kent Team) if any fanatic wants all three versions.

Yes, Shatterhand, Hybris work fine with WinUAE 8.17R3 but it is too slow to have fun and the sound is bad because the sound is not continue in one piece.

In fact, i don't use WinUAE above 8.8 because all uppers version are too slow.
I think that is now time for the develloper team of WinUAE to optimize the code before adding more options other else all the fun of WinUAE will be gone.

And that is too bad because i want use the new option for hd floppys but will never use it today, the jit version are too slow.
And there are a lot of action/shoot games that you can play correctly with the last version but are too slow to take fun with.

Thanks Twistin'Ghost for your help ;)

s4murai : Well, i think that you find it because the picture contain mainly blue, seem to be a shoot-em up (i cannot understand german and cannot read the story about ) and the name is very similar.

After more than 10 year, i can understand if my memory have mistake about the title of the game ;)

Do you have a copy of it ?

WinUAE is just a port of UAE and UAE's main goal is compatibility and portability. Better compatibility or speed, you can't choose both.

I haven't had sound or slowdown problems with any 0.8.17 version of WinUAE. Unfortunately it is quite impossible to fix problems that I can't see myself.

Best solution: buy a faster PC :)

Maverick357
08 November 2001, 14:01
Ok Toni Wilen, thanks for you reply.
I can understand what you mean compatibility and portability.

For my pc config, i think it is fast enough i can emulate Mame, ZSnes, Megadrive, and a lot of others emulators/computer at full speed.

My config today (main hardware) is AMD at 800 Mhz, 256 Mb of ram with an Asus Motherboard, Creative TNT 2 with 32 Mb of videoram.

I don't want upgrade every 6 months just for emulating a computer of 68000 at 7 mhz .

If a need a Cray computer to emulate the Amiga, that is too bad.

It is too bad that new version of WinUAE come out so many time because i know assembly (i am not a genius in assembly but i know it enough to make good job with).

But programming a lot of/ or all WinUAE alone is an hopeless task.
And more bad, i don't know anything in emulation or hardware of the Amiga.

And making an optimized assembly code with Masm for myself is an endless / useless task, it will take years to do it alone and new release of WinUAE will come out.

OK, it's in the zone. Nice game, it it wasn't so slow to get to the actual game itself. I only played for a few moments, so I've no idea what that note from the TOSEC team is about; the graphics looked fine on my end.

Maverick357

Twistin'Ghost :

YES,YES,YES :D

This is the game that i whas looking for, can you give me the config that you used because :

- With WinUAE, when the game screen start (after the animation with copyright ) i get a gurus meditation.

- With WinUAE 8.17R3 (Amiga 500 standard config) i get this mess:

And with With WinUAE 8.17R3 (Amiga 1200 standard config) i get this mess (see next post):

Changing display option of WinUAE do nothing better.

Here is with the AGA 1200 config:

Twistin'Ghost

I simply used the standard BTTR 1.3 conig with WInUAE 0.8.8r8. I didn't fiddle with anything beyond that.

Maverick357
08 November 2001, 15:39
Mmmmmh Too bad it work not for me with this config/WinUAE 0.8.8R8
I get allways this gourous after the copyright animation screen:

Maverick357
08 November 2001, 15:53
I find it why it whas crashing the Amiga (gurus meditation).

That whas option of cpu speed that MUST be at aprox A500 speed.
I suppose that is a synchronisation problem inside the game:confused

I don't understant the critic about bad graphics because i find it nice

Twistin'Ghost
08 November 2001, 16:03
That's odd...I have mine set at Adjustable between CPU and Chipset (1). Then again it looks like you are running yours at full screen, so maybe that is having an effect. Your screen grabs are a bit large...you should reduce the resolution before posting...a bit blinding! Here's the exact config I used to run the game.

Maverick357
08 November 2001, 16:18
s4murai :
Thanks for your help, this is you that find the correct title of the game :D

Twistin'Ghost :

For the size of the screenshot, i know that is too big, i have try to reduce size of it long time ago (with previous post about others subject) but the program cannot save a reduced size of it.
I use 'Graphics workshop professionnal' for a lot of effect, include zoom in, zoom out and conversion format but it save the picture always at full size.

Sorry, i found where the option to scale is available (not when then picture is show but in the catalog show option.

Is this size more acceptable ?

Twistin'Ghost
08 November 2001, 16:49
Heheh...yeah, that's a little easier on the eyes. Plus I think slower connection modem users probably have an easier time rendering a thread when the images are cut down, unless it's something really critical.

Maverick357
08 November 2001, 16:55
Twistin'Ghost :

For the config that you give me, this is as me but when is the cpu speed = 1, i don't have any voice digit and some sounds in game is not hear/played.

With aprox A500 speed, then it is 100 % ok

Twistin'Ghost
08 November 2001, 17:15
Well, it's a pretty game and all that, and it certainly satisfies my need to kill all things, but it's quite an impossible affair without the trainer (and a wrist workout even WITH the trainer!)

And yes, it does seem to perform a bit better with Approximate A500 Speed.

Maverick357
08 November 2001, 17:42
Twistin'Ghost:

It not impossible without cheating :D but very hard to go at level 3 because you must be VERY carrefull at the start of the game.

The first ugrade that you must get absolutly choice is 'faster movement speed' & 'faster shoot rate'..
After that you can choice what you prefer upgrade, shoot at side or after, ect...

Today i have seen that i must train again (without cheat:D ) before i can past the first level because it is hard to play, but not impossible.

It will take a lot of time (the secret is to memorise every ground target to shoot the faster on it and every aerial ennemies to avoid to get stuck in a side of the gameplay field

Good Luck, have fun. and 'Can be the force with you';)

Mav: Try Battle Squadron, Hybris' pseudo-sequel.. It's a great game, one of, if not THE, best Amiga vertical scrolling shoot'em ups

Maverick357
08 November 2001, 18:09
Here is a proof that without cheating you can go to level 2 (but too bad not further because i whas killed by the bigboss of level 2).

I have try more than 18 time to get so far, and without a full upgrade you have no chance to survive
You can pause the game with space bar, if this can help you :D

Maverick357
08 November 2001, 18:15
Akira:
I know about 'Battle squadron' because i had a cracked copy on my real Amiga 500 in 1991.

I whas gone very far in the game but after a while there too many invisible enemies and i was dead.

You have right 'Battle squadron' is a very good shoot-em-up:D

I have Battle squadron rom for Megadrive-Genesis if somebody want it

Shatterhand
09 November 2001, 03:31
I think I am the biggest fan of Battle Squadron around, I LOVE that game.

I won't say the Mega-Drive version sucks, but it's much worse than the Miggy version. THe Mega-Drive version has many upgrades to weapon (If my memory serves well, in the Miggy version you can upgrade your weapon up to 7 times, against 4 times in the Megadrive), the Amiga sound is MUUUCHHH better, and the MEgadrive has a crap parallax effect in some stages, it adds a FOREGROUND, and many times a section of the screen is invisible..

about the invisible enemies... try to mess with the contrast and bright levels of your monitor, it may help :)
