Hiya Guys,

I'm new to this board, and am just getting to grips wit WinUAE, after migrating from an expanded 1200 to this PC..

Anyway I have a good Amiga games collection from my Amiga days, but I'm looking for the USA versions of Gods and Magic pockets.. Surely someone can help out!

The US Version of Magic Pockets allows you to enter passwords for each level, and Gods has a cheat mode disabled in other versions. :(

In gods US entering SORCERY as a password gives infinate energy or something..;)

I wasn't even aware of those differences. I didn't even know US versions of them existed. As a general rule, I often ignore the US versions and even my A2000 is hardware hacked to be a PAL machine.

One exception I am aware of is that UFO is a better version than it's European counterpart.

If you look for cheats for Magic Pockets on the Net you'll get level codes which work with the US ver. As for Gods I remember a magazine publishing the cheat years ago, it might be for a different version of gods (I have v1.00 28 March 1991) and V1.00 of Magic Pockets dated 11 September 1991

Well ... since we've got very good NTSC support in WinUAE now, I'd like to see Magic Pockets US version.
I'd appreciate someone uploading it.

Since you revived this thread I'm more interested in what Twistin says about one of my fav games

Do you know how it is better? I had the original english Amiga version back in the days ;) , then I got myself the PC version a few years ago and now I've got the CD32 version. The problem is comparing the CD32 to the PC its much slower, you can only have one save, you can't name things (I think you can on the floppy/HD version?) and you are limited to three bases. Does the US one improve on any of this?

me too, i've noticed that thread just now and me too i've searched for the version of Gods with the cheat enabled for years, but with no luck. i don't think it's tosecized, tough. maybe someone can amend that?

Most US versions of games don't have stuff like Copylock, because their laws allow them to make backup copies.

I think there is data missing, because thats why it doesn't get past the bootblock, because it is trying to execute data that doesn't exist.

But, I think its probably something really basic like a text screen or something, because the intro and game works.

So, not an emulator issue, just incorrectly imaged.

Protection is cracked, enter any code you like.

Am I gonna need WINUAE to run this? I've tried it in WinFellow and it won't load, maybe cos its not set up for USA games and there doesn't seem to be any NTSC support in WinFellow.

It starts to boot, grey/white screens, then I just get a black screen. I've pressed almost every button trying to get it to do something but I guess its just incompatible.

Works fine in WinUAE :) I've been testing :D

Also works fine with the WHDInstall :)

Yes, due to the nice work of Galahad, I could uncover another BUG in current WinUAE: when WinUAE is running in NTSC mode (which is absolutely required with this version of the game), sound timing goes back to PAL timing when WinUAE window loses focus, e. g. by clicking on a desktop icon. Thanks again Galahad! :great

Toni has found the bug I reported and fixed it in next release, which could even fix issues with other US versions.

Seeing as there are now a fair few new faces around here thought I'd bump this old-old thread!

So has anyone found the US version of Gods OR has the version where the SORCERY cheat works been found?

The OR seems negated for all times.
I've just tested with the CAPS EU version of Gods - negative. No "sorcery", but loss of lives. :D
Appears to be US only indeed.

actually me too. i would like to know if it exist however. with the trained version around, i found at least that i dislike the game, but the first 2 levels :)

No the game is cool, but what kind of cheat is it? I had a quick play and die entered it and nothing happened. What should this cheat do? Turn the enemies to monkeys? ;)

it makes you play as a BippyM! it is way slower than the normal sprite, the enemies cover him in spam, but it has ninja secret moves! :)

Does the main sprite go hi-kicking and shouts 'hiiiiyaaah!' all the time? Or is it about throwing stars and the ability to jump out of the screens to hide :confused

I had a look at the Non Tosec stuff I have and the version you are looking for isn't there sorry :(

Probably on one, only Edwin McLouth mentioned in whdload install as owner have. Would be interesting to see this version as well Rodland v1.3S.

Its got a normal dos bootblock, Magic Pockets isn't on a dos disk.
