Shadow of the Beast was the last CPC game I bought (or was Bloodwych?) and it looks better on a green monitor than on a colour one :)

And here goes the Salamander pic. After playing it again on Caprice, yes, is a lot faster than what I remembered

I already had the Spectrum version for sometime, and I even told Akira about it when I got it. I won't comment about it , as I don't even like the Miggy game that much...
But what I found really weird is that the word "Shadow of the" never appears in the game (It's like the game is only called "Beast" ) , and there's NO Psygnosis or Reflections credits in the game!
I just got the Amstrad version with the pack of games I've just downloaded, so I'll may comment about it later..
I have a little more to say about the CPC, but I'll say it in the other CPC thread....

Not weird, thatīs cause GREMLIN had the rights on the Amstrad and Spectrum Versions (look advert posted above) ;)

Thanks for posting the CPC pics. I can officially say it sucks :) The Commodore versions were SO great!
I still might end up buying them. What about R-Type? I almost nab that one on eBay...
RetroMan

Well, R-Type is not a very good conversion IMHO, but make your mind ....

Nope, it's like the spectrum version. If you want a good CPC shooter try Silkworm
RetroMan

Hmmm, there was a really great shooter on CPC, you fly in an world war one airplane and the scrolling was up/down, but I canīt remember the name :(
Uukrul

The onnly one I can now remember is 1943 (great conversion) but it can`t be (WWII airplane). Do you have more info about publisher or year?
...Is Scramble Spirits?

R-type on the CPC, like Uukrul said, is identical to the Spectrum. I think the Spectrum version is great for a Spectrum, but not for an Amstrad game .
@Retroman
Yet I think they had to put a "Psygnosis" trademark somewhere..
When I 1st got the spectrum version, I saw only the name "Beast", and no Psygo copyright, I thought they had just stole the game idea or something (Although a big company like Gremlin woulnd't do that)
The same happens in the CPC version...
Oh yeah, and Silkworm on CPC is indeed great :)

And the sequel SWIV is simply one of the worst games I've ever seen on the CPC. Conclusion: CPC was a great machine with very bad programmers.

I wouldn't say bad programmers, I'd say LAZY. A LOT of games were Spectrum shovelware. But there were demo coders who made GREAT stuff!

I don't think Swiv was that bad on the CPC. It's not good either, is just average.
Like R-Type, it's a good game for spectrum, but not for the CPC

Sorry, but SWIV on CPC is a REALLY CRAP GAME !!!! The scrolling sucks, the gfx sucks and so does the game :( While Silkworm was brilliant, I canīt understand why they made SWIV to be that crappy ...... hmmm, itīs all about the money, the sooner the game is ready, the sooner they get more money, itīs a real shame ......
