Never found Ultima 2 or 1 for the Amiga.
But I remembered having a lot of problems with WinUAE because you needed to create a character disk, and disk saving would crash WinUAE. The only solution I found was in the end creating the character disk on a real amiga and then playing the game on Winfellow.

Hey Splatman! :)
The disk you sent me privately (yes, he had to, because he can't access the zone yet!) is actually Ultima V Disk 2.
Since it's Disk 2, it can't boot - therefore it's plain logical you couldn't make it work with UAE! :p
//Edit: The disk you sent me is the SAME disk Retroman just upped named "Ultima 2"!
@Retroman, thus it's Disk 2 of Ultima V, too! Take a closer look! :p
Unfortunately I have to spoil the party again: the disk Retroman upped named "Ultima 1" is Ultima V Disk 1!
Sorry ... no Ultima 1. ;)
In other words:
If you download both of Retroman's disks, you can play Ultima V afterwards! :cheese

:( I looked for Ultima 1 and 2 before and came up empty handed.
But at least it seems that there were a reason he couldn't play it huh?

It's only 2 disks? Ok I have it on the Amiga, but I can't remember how many disks it is. The C64 version takes 4-5 disks double sided.

@Splatman
you can only see both disks of Ultima V on the ADF Zone as well as the file you sent me privately.
Ultima V is quite common, you should be lucky to get it from somewhere else without problems :)

To the best of my knowledge, Ultima I & II weren't released on the Amiga. We've had them in the TOSEC dat for a while, until we noticed that they were actually just disk 1 & 2 of Ultima V... There's a PD version of Ultima I for Amiga, however. Don't know how faithful it is to the original, haven't tried it personally.

That's typical isn't it? There were Ultima 1-5 on the C64, which I was very close to buying as a bundle pack once but didn't really like the screenshots from the dungeon (Face it I was a dummy to not realize it was parts of the game and not entire games like that).
And there's also an Ultima collection for the PC where you get Ultima 1-? (7 or 8?).
Why has the Amiga been passed up for those two? As I see it the Amiga was a sort of middle step between the PC and C64. Many games were made on the PC (Or amiga) because the C64 wasn't good enough to play them, and the PC was sadly a computer which after C64 developing was dropped got most of the developing for some reason. If it was both on C64 and PC, why not Amiga? It's not because it's so old because then it wouldn't exist on the PC, and it's definately not because it's too new since it appeared on the C64. and later games did too.

That's NOT Ultima 1, that's actually ZERG, a shareware game by Mike Shapiro, from 1989! This game was on a Fish disk of the 2xx series.
This game is available on Back To The Roots. (Look under ZERG).
FWIW, I'm gonna post this on the zone anyway even though I think it's actually pointless.
@morph72
GLADLY you TOSEC guys didn't believe in fairy-tales (yet) and didn't offer ADFs renamed as 'Ultima I' or 'Ultima II' so far. I can second your statements, every "Ultima I" or "Ultima II" for the Amiga is definitely a fake! So the TOSEC people prove again that they check EVERYTHING for it's actual contents instead of spreading false information. Way to go, guys! :)

I thought the give away bit was Press F3 for Ultima and when you select about it says Ultima 1 by Lord British....
Just not my night I guess.
O well I got another post so only another 3 mill before I can get on the zone :sad

Well, just for the record, I have a compilation disk with a Black Monks demo and this PD Ultima version by Mike Shapiro here... according to the docs, the game is called "Ultima" and Zerg was the "developername"... I wonder what the correct title should be.

See what happens when not using TOSEC :D:D:D ahhh, damn, that mean by any chance that I have deleted Ultima 1 and 2 and kept TWO copys of Ultima V :(
Keep fingers crossed I have them on real disk anywhere, gonna search for them right now ....

By no means am I an expert on the Ultima games, in fact I now Jack S**t about them, but looking through my collection of Amiga LSD doc disk's, I spotted on LSD026 soloutions for Ultima 1/2/3 and 4.
Don't know if this means there were Amiga version's or not though.
I think LSD002 also had some stuff about Ultima 1 on it.

In the Ultima Collection cd, it clearly describes which versions of Ultima were released for which computer. I don't have it with me right now but I was surprised when I saw Ultima 1&2 were not released for amiga. They wouldn't make good amiga games though; not with that graphics so they may have needed to be improved greatly for the amiga market. Maybe origin preferred not to bother at all, or maybe they could not finance the development and marketing of amiga version at that time.

I wouldn't trust the information in the Ultima Collection CD too much because, if I remember correctly, it also doesn't list an Amiga version of Ultima 6.

This subject has been through the ringers so many times. There is simply no versions of Ultima 1 & 2 on the Amiga. Period.

I found this in the google's cache. It's an old page from official origin website.

Yup. That makes sense and that page was originally hosted at -www.origin.ea.com- !
The reason I believe the Amiga version began with Ultima III (as well as some of the other platforms that began the series with that game) was because the presentation on the earlier Ultima entries was just simply considered to be too crude for the (then) modern gamers. And that would be a fair cut. I personally believe it would have been worth their financial while to either dump the game as is or to update the presentation for those previous three games, simply because of the massive phenomenon that the Ultima series is, they'd have sold regardless of what was inside.
The series ended its run on the Amiga at a time when many developers jumped the Amiga ship due to dwindling sales of Amiga in the face of the incoming PC domination.
What would be nice is if someone would code an Amiga interpreter of the first three Ultima games (0, I and II) so that at least the prefix to the set could be played fully on the Amiga. Seriously, how hard could this be? Mind you, you could probably play those earlier games on IBeMulator, PCTask, etc., but it would be nice to not have to rely on an emulator.

I remember Origin going back and updating and re-releasing Ultima I for the C64, in fact I'm looking at the box right now. I don't recall them doing this for the Amiga :( I'm thinking that it was originally an Apple II release then I think the Atari 8bit as well.
