I'm using Calssic WB on Winuae, and I installed Gunship 2K (AGA), in the menus the joystick works fine, but as soon as it goes into the sim the joystick stops working. I checked the manual and there is no mention of a key to change the control method.

I then installed Gunship2K (none AGA) that works fine, joystick works in both menus and in sim, but the quitkey is mapped to F10, which is supposed to be the 'map' so it renders the game pretty much unplayable.

So two questions really, how do I get the joystick to work on the AGA version?
Or how do I remap the quitkey for the none aga version?

During the game: Alt+P, then C, and change control method. Better used with Alt+Q (quit to "DOS", actually returns to 3.1 AmigaDOS boot window), but then the settings are saved to HD and no need to do that each time.

I just checked in the slave, quitkey is not F10. Either you've got a s:whdload.prefs file with $59 set in QUITKEY field, or the Gunship icon has got an erroneous QUITKEY=$59 in the tooltypes (my fault, probably)

Anyway I'll re-release a version of GS2K install soon that will fix or explain all the problems mentionned above (plus the bloody random access fault in AGA version)

Excellent news, I have only just noticed this post (I must have over looked it).

Thank you very much. I never thought anything would come of it :D
