Here is a site of a mate with pics of many different game rooms. I wonder if any of you guys have such cool setups? I don't have pictures of my setup, got to take some so I submit them to this site :)

Here's the link:

http://www.theblastshack.com/

Click on ROOMS and be sure to check elend^LFC^mNz!'s setup. He has LOTS of Amiga goodies, many games in pristine condition!

If you have pics of your game/puter setup or collection, post here!

:D:D:D think no one wants to see my room ;) Itīs a mess, since everything fits where is ANY room for it (for example I have a little Computer Desk, you know the standart one, where are 4 Amigas and one MSX on it !!!). Itīs really not very good looking here hehehe ....

I will let you have a peek into my black soul.
I hate clutter. Anywhere..I hate it. I'd remove my own moribund organs if I could. I am the opposite of a pack rat, a non Nordic Nordic admirer of nordic efficiency and sleekness. The way I eat, live, dress, furnish, talk, compute etc is sleek, simple and neat. To the point of obsession. I do not pull punches or waste breath. Thats why I post prolifically here....Its an outlet for an otherwise laconic fella. It's the reason I love Apple's products, partially. Neat, no nonesense. No jewelry or frills, just elegance the way it ought to be. I need no clutter or facade. Thats why I find Liberace funy..hes the opposite of my, behaviour and style wise, tha t baroque poof:p
See me as I am. So, I have one desktop, a PC. Its on my desk. I emulate only. (Though I'm shopping for a Saturn, and only because Iron Storm should be played on a big screen.
All CDs and games are in a beautiful chinese style pull handle antique chest. I have no game room. its all a large studio apartment, hence....
Ok?

Fred the Fop
10 October 2001, 00:03
Akira is embarrassed at his collection of Liberace paraphanalia and Twist has a massive shrine to Mike Lookinland, I hear.
S4murai is shown on the right here with his pal, Irwin Keyes (Hugo of The Jeffersons" fame). The photo is from a convention dedicated to showcasing Sears Astrocade set ups.

Ah well, this is the only foto of a part of my room, which I have handy right now ..... you see, I have all kind of games mixed together in no particular order or something .... If you have sharp eyes, you can see some NeoGeo games, PC games, MegaCD (Genesis) games, Amiga games and C64 games ..... uhhh, just saw, the C64 games arenīt on that foto, ah well, I make some new these days ;) oh btw. there are even two CD32 games on the foto :D:D:D

Well, itīs definitely no rarity, I would call it a "Womens Comp. Pro" :D cause it also has some silver glitter sprayed all over itīs case ;) But there are also CPīs with Silver Sticks and a blue case ....

I liked Retroman's room exactly because it's chaotic :)

Mine used to be chaotic too (of course, not as much as his), when I used the MSX, the Amiga and the Mega-Drive all as my main machines, I had lots of stuff thrown here :)

Nowadays I use nearly only the PC..

First, my bedroom (primary computer) -
Athlong 4 1.53Ghz/ 892MB RAM/ RAID / 21" monitor/ HP PSC 750/ DVD ROM / SCSI CDROM,CDR, & DAT tape drive/ boatloads of original games for PC & Playstation

Shadowfire
03 November 2001, 01:51
Now, the living room. An all-Sony entertainment setup (with exception of the Dreamcast). I have boatload of other consoles too, but dont have them hooked up since the living room has to stay "neat".

Shadowfire
03 November 2001, 01:52
Downstairs, at my electronics workstation. Internet access here, too. Two P3-1000 systems under the desk.

03 November 2001, 01:54
This is my Amiga 3000 in a tower case. A3000/25, 8mb Fast, 2mb Chip, 4GB Seacrate Barracuda, 2x/6x CD Recorder/reader, multisync monitor, blah blah blah, also more electronics stuff.

Shadowfire
03 November 2001, 01:57
Finally, a dual-cabinet MAME rig. Dual 25" Capcom cabinets, (1 SF2 layound, 1 D&D Layout) powered by a P3-933 w/ 256MB RAM, AdvanceMAME & AdvanceMenu. I converted the bigger one from a 3-player Aliens vs. Predator to a Street Fighter layout. Great fun with friends, but no, I'll never ever put that much work in anything ever again...

Today I got a new item in my "game room" ... a C128D with steel case and a Commodore 1701 Monitor :) Since I never owned a C128D before, could someone please tell be how to switch to C64-mode and where to get a CP/M disk...... thx in advance :D

Edit : forget it, I just found out :) Now I only have to find my X1541 cable :D

@Shadowfire

VERY impressive "game room" ;):)

03 November 2001, 20:59
Samurai: No, I use AdvanceMenu, an arcade-box frontend for MAME. You can choose what game to launch & launch it. Then I have it set to pull up an Exit menu from within AdvanceMame ... by pressing P1 Start & P2 Start at the same time, then choosing Exit, it goes back to the front end. No mousing about. The Joystick/buttons control the whole thing. When I want to update the emulator/ROMS, I just open the back door, yank out the hard drive (its in a removable swap tray) & bring it to the machine in my bedroom and copy the files right there.

Akira
04 November 2001, 00:07
EXCELLENT setup, Shadowfire... I plan to add a Jamma cab to my room next year... but I'll prolly put proper games in there rather than making it onto a MAME cab... I loved the pics, keep'em coming guys!

retroman: either bootup./reset by holding down the C= key, or type GO64 at the 128 basic prompt :) Since you live in germany you should avoid thsoe metal case 128Ds and go hunt a rare plastic case german 128D, they are MUCH cooler!

Shadowfire
04 November 2001, 06:57
Oh they can be converted back to cps2 cabs in about 15 seconds, the original games are still in there its just a matter of moving the jamma harness from the PC to the CPS2 board. Want pics of the insides?

andreas
04 November 2001, 09:49
Well, itīs definitely no rarity, I would call it a "Womens Comp. Pro" cause it also has some silver glitter sprayed all over itīs case
So a "Gays' Comp. Pro" would have a PINK stick, then? :laugh
(and the plastic case would be covered with VELVET, then, I guess :D)

Akira
04 November 2001, 18:33
Shadow: good, you have space for PCBs in there too :) That's what Id like to do, making a JAMMA harness for the PC taht would be easily removable for the inclusion of a normal PCB... If I can do that, I might consider a MAME cab

Hey bippy, how can you stand having your Amiga all gutted like that? I would drive crazy if I had the slightest bit of computer inners outside of their case. My A600s diskdrive lies outside of the case, and that alone drives me completely nutz :)

Akira

So I'd need a new A600 :)

Since my appartment is only 30 square metres in size I don’t have a game room. I am already glad there is some room for my PC, printer and scanner! Oh, I have also an Atari Lynx with some games (inlcuding original boxes) in my posession. It is stored in a cabinet between cans of soup and packs of milk.

My god what do I h-a-t-e my house. :kill
This morning I have found out my toilet is broken (and turned the bathroom in a jacuzzi) and water would not go away in the kitchen sink. Tomorrow a plumber will repare the mess for 'only' 60 Euro!. Until then, I will dream of a house consisting of multiple rooms including a computerroom for my Lynx, PC and Amiga and where I can go to the toilet without getting wet feet.

AFAIK, standard it is. Though I think yopu can put up to 32MB... or was that the Apollo 630?

Not a bad price, I might try to score it ;)

Akira

* 10 times speed increase, or more on math intensive applications!
* Mounted internally on top of the 68000
* 68020 CPU running on 25 MHz!
* 68882 math co-processor running on 25 MHz included!
* Approximately as fast as the Amiga 4000! (030 version)
* Up to 8 MB of 32-bit RAM! (One SIMM socket of 1, 2, 4 or 8 MB)
* Uses cheap and easily available standard 72-pin SIMM without parity
* PCMCIA friendly - PCMCIA port available up to 4 MB
* Autoconfiguring memory

So 8MB it is, the 630 must be the one that accepts 32MB... what can you do with just 8 megs? :) but afaik, the 630 is very rare... ;(

Open for free to anyone who loves old computers as much as me :)

I have a dream that someday I'll have enough spare money to open up an old computers/videogames store, just for the fun of it, and not to gain any bucks! I could repair old machines for free, to make someone happy reviving his/her hardware.. that sounds nice! And it could havea section with classic arcade machines! Wow, I'll never have enough money :(

On those pics, only my latest addition is missing: the Mattel Intellivision. And all the machines I've got in the US (6 of them). I dont know how to bring those babies now that shipping prices have skyrocketed over here! :(

PS: can you see the old amplifier and turntables too? :) oldschool city!

It reminds me of when my parents' dog died ten years ago. They got the dog's ashes in a brass urn and planned to bury it somewhere in the hills. They never got around to burying it and the ashes are still in the urn in a drawer at their house. :eek

Hows the current financial situation there effecting you ?
Are you able to get at savings or its limited? I read the government is trying to get people to except bonds, but to me that just seems an unsafe gamble.

Im moving soon and if after paying the rent for a larger place (buying in this city is impossible it hink. its soo expensive... Ģ130,000 gets you a small flat) i intend to get a decent cabinet and buy a select few of my favourite arcades. speciall mutant fighter, since i loved it when i was younger and its unemulated due to encryption hardware etc.. typical data east stuff..

aah yes. c64 is my baby.. infact although you cant tell from the photos easily ont he large pictures. i am viewing a website on my laptop. that website is hosted on my c64!! running LNG

http://lng.sourceforge.net

I even coded some ofd the webserver myself for this project, although onyl a small amount (default document support and some bug fixes)

But hey, im thinking of going somewhere different for my hols. So how much you charge for a room. One with a view would be nice.. I mean no windows. just Commodore and old hardware everywhere :)

First off, the situation over here is complete ARSE. It affected me enough to not be able to buy more computers! :D but I am in a pretty good situation after all, getting a good ammount of NICE freelance design jobs. So I'm cool. but I wish I could spend my cash on old compies again!

Our rooms have similarities mate. Check out our old amps (what is it with Amiga users and old amplifiers? They sound SO MUCH BETTER eh? :D), and the compact macintoshes! :D

I'm curious about the black screen with green text though.. It's LNG right? I thought you needed SuperCPU for that to run... I assumed C64 is your baby since you have about 7 of them :D How many of those actually work?

Feel free to visit and stay for free, an old computer nutter is alwasy more than welcome in my house :D

i have around 11 c64's at the moment 8 or so work. the others i use for spares..

Hi Guys,

im new to this board and wanted to say hi.....

ive been following the amiga emu scene on and off since early 97, it was a chance discovery that i found UAE.

One day i woke up and suddenly remembered an old strategy game that i just HAD to play again. That game was Carrier Command. I owned an original of this game when i had my first A500+ way back in 1990.

I started looking on the net for any instances of perhaps a PC port of this game, but stumbled upon the old Lazarus site, and from there picked up on UAE. Back then it was just DOSUAE, and i had lots of fun remembering all the old amiga DOS commands, Workbench stuff, and trying to play my old fav games.

anyways, heres a peek at my "lab" hehe

p.s. : sorry about the mess

take it ezeeee:laughing :laughing

I write here although at the moment i don't have pics about my positioning of machines...Mainly i use the pc (Amd 1000mhz/Windoes Me,Suse Linux (working on to get using of it..amiga like easiness in the programs of their own make and Help system is truely help system and of course there is too that getting started thing..(KDE-system i'm using and that easiness means..program can be open freely when you are taking info to use those stuff)/Amiga Forever...(well that one has been only waiting time to get amiga work and to get cable that can access information from pc to amiga (you've been speaking of some program called PctoAmiga...or something..is it better than AmigaE..)..I have in my pc peripherals like:DVD-player/Cdr-Cdrw Writer Hp Deskjet 890C Pro Series,CanoScan N650U..Hpscanner isa-scsi is plainly not usable...no isa ports..;P...HItachi 19" CM751ET and the 3 1/2 drive (floppydrive)..so those where seeable...inner parts consist of..Matrox 450 (my sister is going to give me G550 but i'm thinking to buy Parhelia (G1000)..but when it's price has gone truely low...*before it goes away from the market...*I have to start sparing*)...then it's much better than any other..
I'm hoping that the new Amiga4.0 would come fast and that the Pc peripheral side would be tested soon...so I would get in hay a lot..(although i'm using my equipments to get it...no drunkaholic, drugaholic or Coffeeholic way)...
Amiga has:3.1 rom in it..(just the Wb needs to be installed..),Supraturbo 28 turbo and Golden Image second floppydrive....
At the moment my rooms tables and floor is flooded with dirty clothes (and clean one's)...sdome schools book of my upper school has to get to their place to the shelf...maybwe this week then...

Before I will take a photo I'll arrange things a bit..amiga things and linux things and pc stuff to their places and making them seeable...and of course game things too..(NWN from pc side, and amiga diskshelf and then things which means to me a lot...)...

So I make that one of my "Top Secret Projects"...You've not heard it you've not read it ;) Got it....:D

They'd make great keychains!

You should run a competition on EAB!!!!!

Bloodwych
25 July 2002, 21:27
Cody my EAB brother, this is what you need to do:

Get one of those huge screens that people get dressed behind and place it in you room. Start storing all your dirty smelly socks in some container behind the screen and tell the house owners that’s where you keep your dirtiest laundry from now on. Leave it there for a few weeks until other people learn not to go near the screen and suspicion about its presence dies down. Then transplant all your Amiga stuff behind it! :D

Out of sight, out of mind.

Aside from not mentioning the MS optical mouse. I maid a mistake I don't have 2 A2000s, it's 2 A4000s.

My "game room" has the following. It beats the spec of everyone including Oscar :)

These are rough guesses as my gaming room gets new equipment added every day.

Ready ?

700 Intel Pentium III PC's with 19" monitors.
30 Apple Mac's
730 swivel chairs.
730 PBX digital telephones (the dogs bollox in phones these are!).
12 water cooler machines.
3 coffee machines (it makes tea, and a lovely espresso choc!)
2 vending machines (chocolate, crisps etc..)
1 cash machine
20 laser printers (including 4 colour)
10 photocopiers (1 colour)
2 (possibly more) girls who model topless

Well, I do work in a open plan office (so it's one big room - 3 levels !) and when I'm there I play Windoze Solitaire (a game) most of the day :D

Moi? I'm from Nawth Caroliney...we smoke rabbit tobaccer here. And straw from the cattle barns.

So the Atari guys were hopped up on dope, eh? That would explain a lot about the stupid-ass ideas that afflicted the ST. I can see those guys all stoned now going "Hey, man...coooool...let's make the function keys crooked...awesome!" or "Colour on the desktop...green is groovy...ugly icons are faaaaar out....and like, how about a fly for the busy pointer...totally awesome, dude! He shut up.

It's funny...ST guys, like clockwork, all seem to sing that same broken record tune about Dungeon Master. Check this site out. The prices are typical of Lian-Li cases.

I've put nearly all of my stuff away. I just have my PeeCee and my A4000 in my room. There are also some boxed games in a rack. That's all.

In the loft I have an Atari Mega ST 2, C64 with floppy and games, a C128, and the board of an Amiga 2000.

AAANNND: My poor Amiga 500. A friend of mine found it IN THE WOODS. IN NOVEMBER. WHILE RAINING LIKE SHIT.
He knew he'd have a good home at my house, so he gave it to me. For FREE. Muahahahaha.

BTW: It works just fine.

Not much of a game room, more sort of the room I live in, all that's not shown in one of the pics is my bed and you can see edges of that on 2 of the pictures.

Kinda cramped in there too. And quite distasteful curtains, had them for over 7 years should get some new ones.

Is that a cable modem next to your A1200? Are you're Amigas connected to it by way of a router?

Drake1009
24 January 2003, 01:36
No that's a stock A1200 I've got. The cable modem is for my PC but the coax cable is connected in the living room and it's too darn short to pull all the way across the room, so it's there with the switch and then I have a UTP cable running under my bed.

I'd love to have internet connection on my A1200 though, but with 2 MB ram and no network card I doubt very much it'll happen.

I had my Amiga 4000s connected. Only recently i decided that I just do not have time. Only really wanted them to fool with a Video Toaster and download demos for my A500 and A1200. I may actually let my Amigas go once I can get my hands on OS4. Don't know when that will be, but I figure it's better than just having them sit in a closet all this time. I may actually just keep 1 A500 and an A1200 just to view demos.

Then theres a CPC6128+ with monitor and some 3" disks ive written dsk images onto.

Finally theres the Atari 520STe attached to a nice Philips CM8331

Because many moons ago, Gasteiner Technologies sold me the 3.5" drive on the premise that it would fit inside!

It is now inside since that pic though, I decided to butcher the poor A1200 and rip out the shielding.

Still have a minor connectivity issue with the IDE cable though, I think the pins on the board are a bit dodgy :(

Back on the case front, I'm probably going to get a Chieftec for my next upgrade, loads of lovely bays :D

Boy I thought I kept a messy office, but compared to most people here I have a sanitized operating room. I just cannot get anything done when there's a mess on my desk.
I need space to write and at times sketch out what I want to I want to do. And when I'm coding being able to have a reference book or tutorial open in front of me is a must.

By the way, the thread says "game room".
