Has this game ever been released on whdload? I've seen it on tomtoms website which you can't download from anymore, but no where else.

A really good classic!

Tomtom doesn't even slightly dent the WHDLoad games collection!
There are literally hundreds around if you know where to look ;)
Though I'm sure Street Rod isn't 1 of em!
Check the www.whdload.de (http://www.whdload.de) to be certain!

Someone must have the streetrod whdload somewhere. What installers are around that are not part of the WHDLoad website? If it's not in the page, it doesn't exist, or is WiP, or something. It makes no sense not having it in the WHDLoad page and I would like you to show me some examples.

One example is one that I downloaded from http://amiga.magix.name/ which is the it came from the desert 2 its the full whdload game, but someone must have had the installer to install it in the first place. Been looking for it for ages and its not for download on whdload. Streetrod is another this exists on tomtoms website though I've not seen it anywhere else. Moonstone is another example this isn't on the whdload website. Theres a few others but can't think of them off the top of my head.

There are a lot of resources around for WHDLoad slaves that only support cracked versions of software. Hence why Street Rod is available other than the official source of WHDLOAD.DE.
Suffice to say, if its not on WHDLOAD.DE then it most definately doesn't support the original, otherwise what other reason for the author of the slave to not upload it?
I suspect because of the rarity of the Street Rod original, whoever does support it officially in WHDLoad, might well support the cracked version simply to ensure that all their hard work isn't wasted.

Anybody knows anything about that?
Street Rod 2 is not A1200 compatible,is it?The game is freezed at the intro beginning.
I have managed to work Street Rod 1 installed but with graphics failures in the races even deactivating AGA chip in early boot screen.
Anybody has the WHDLoad install for both games?

I would love some WHDLoad installers for Street Rod and Street Rod 2. I have the first game installed on my A1200, if you run it in AGA it's shit, if you run it in ECS it still has bugs, but I think in OCS mode it's fine.

No, I paid for my license. Turns out that I am using version 16.8.4367, which I thought was the latest, but I'll try with the 16.9 beta. Thanks for the heads up!
The error message provided was was: "The data/disk-files are damaged or it is an unsupported version."
EDIT: Doesn't work with WHDLoad 16.9.4512 either. So, I guess there could actually be something to that error message :). Would somebody who has a known working version of Street Rod please upload it again?

Anyway, I just installed ClassicWB on a "new" PC and WHDLoad 16.9 beta (Sept. 7).
The Street Rod games I zoned works just fine.
Did you click on the icons to start the games or was it from command line ?
Remember these are using generic slaves and you must use CUSTOM1=2 (2 disk game) tool type to make it work.
Like this:
WHDLOAD SLAVE=1m512k.slave CUSTOM1=2 PRELOAD

Why should there any need for slaves for cracked games?
I am not a WHDLoad expert, but i know most times the manual code protection has been removed and many slaves has also a trainer via tooltype?

Hi, I was just wondering if my original install of Street Rod would be of any use? It was installed on the hard drive from the original disks many years ago, and I can still go back to the old farm and collect the original disks which should still be in the box if you guys need it, but it's possible that the disks have mould and errors on them.
I've uploaded an installed version of Street Rod to The Zone! I hope this helps anyone looking for the original files.

If its going to load only from floppies, I guess I would need a A500 to boot it? Or is there any way to boot a floppy game with old kickstart by using A1200?

Bamiga2002: You can solve that problem by using WHDLoad 16.8, because only newer versions have this kickstart issue.

Ok, I wrote floppies from ADF-files. And it works! :cool I simply needed to turn of both AGA and ECS. Game itself boots ok from WB. Controls are little bit tricky with my unsensitive mouse though, but I can live with that.

23 January 2012, 20:02
For some reason I could not install Street Rod to hardrive. According to manual, it should be possible to simply copy all files from floppies to harddrive (or CF-card to be accurate). For some reason, I got first checksum error with huge sr512 file. This is weird because floppy works ok from DF0. Then I tried another ADF version and it copied ok to harddisk. But game itself doesn't work from harddrive: it freezes after intro when it normally asks second disk.
Now I wonder is my CF-card working properly, although I was damn accurate to set MaxTransfer right!

How does SRII performs on systems with 030+?
I remember when played on my A2000 with an A2630 board and every racing scenes had high framerates, unlike on A500. Have the same memories with the WHD versions...?
Thrasymakhos
24 January 2012, 07:16
I didn't have time to test SRII yet, but at least the floppy version of SR I is excellent! Driving is smooth and it scrolls extremely fast. My system is A1200/030@50Mhz. First I even had a feeling that game runs too fast, but when I realised that I can control the car perfectly, I understood it is the right speed. This feeling of speed came probably from memories based on how my A500 behaved in the 1990s.
One strange thing: when I play SR I, joystick button do not respond! My mouse is so lousy that I cannot drive with it. Now I play so that I have both joystick and mouse at front of me. I steer with joystick and change transmission with a mouse button. This is little bit complicated and usual result is blowing engine... Game goes well enough tough, because after one night of gaming, I already own a 1963 Corvette and Ford T-Bird. King, here I come! Is there any way to get joystick buttons to react? Manual didn't help much, because it simply says that use joystick button to gear up and down.
This is strange, because I have same problem with C64 when I try to play SR I. (Joystick of course works with other titles.) I don't believe that C64 version is playable at all, but I am just curious, for I have never tried that.
Bamiga2002
24 January 2012, 08:53
I think it's a feature in the game. If you try to switch a gear that didn't switch right the first time, do that again fast and you might lose the gearbox.

Thrasymakhos
24 January 2012, 13:03
Thanks for testing that! Maybe I should not worry about my CF-card then. If you want to play SR I, you need to write it from ADF to floppies. Works perfectly in WB when you remember to boot in OCS mode.

If using CLI you have to do it this way:
WHDLOAD SLAVE=StreetRod.slave Custom1=2 PRELOAD
It's easier if you rename WHDLOAD (16.8) to WHD168 and copy it to C and then change tool in Street Rods game icon to WHD168.
CUSTOM1=2 is important or else it wont work.

I only got it working by booting with no S-S and using the NOMMU-tooltype. Else it throws access fault - exception shit right after starting. But it states that "MMU already maps memory to a location $xxxxxxxx so the program might not work" but it still works. But BPPCFix needs to reboot the computer when I reset (it is no longer resident in memory).

No, that's normal. Necessary WHDLoad/AmigaOS switches. It happens only once for every new created save game. Save in the same slot again and it saves as smoth as expected.
Maybe the "NoWriteCache" tooltype fixes it completely.

Maybe there is possibility to patch SR II at some point... But on the other hand you got to be a masochist to fully enjoy SR II :) It's really difficult.
I have made a patch for Street Rod 2 too, it should be available on the WHDLoad site this evening.

Cool! Never completed SR II due to its low framerate (awfully slow!). But maybe it's now a different story.

I'm afraid it will be still quite slow, it looks like they released a debug build, there are lots of debug routines in it which slow the game down. It's not as good as the original Street Rod anyway in my opinion.

Slow or not, it's still awesome you did a patch. :)
Street Rod 2 was the first in the series I played back in the day so I have very fond memories of this game.
Btw, Street Rod 1 slave is flawless, I completed the game from scratch yesterday with no problems at all. :great

Hey everyone,
Found a nice ingame money cheat for Street Rod and Street Rod 2.
Buy any car or buy the cheapest one if your just starting off and try to sell it for the same price you bought it for.
They will offer a lower price. Refuse it, then try it again. They will offer a higher price. Refuse it, then sell the car for $22,001.
You can do this as many times as you like and build up a nice bit of money! :spin
Your all Welcome! :D
