I think so :) It's just been released... its 3 floppy sides and it is FABOLOUS :) The only Turrican on the commie with in-game music. Great graphics and good level design (altough first two were better in that department). But still I think the c64 version of the third installment is better than Amiga's...

There was in-game music in the original two C64 games-though it was only on the shoot-em-up sections-though it was still nice all the same.

Screenshots look nice, but I doubt they could top Manfred Trenz & co.'s brilliance over the original's.

I have played it a bit ( 2 games, reached level 4.1 ):

Good, really good!

Anyway there are some things i don't like:

For example i don't like the way turrican walks, the sprite collision is far from being perfect, and the shoot'em up has got a too big navy imo.

But a part from this, it's really really good.

The opening SID tune is fantastic. SID still impresses me after all these years.

The actual game leaves me slightly confused. Is this Turrican 3, or turrican 1.5? The levels are form turrican 1. :confused

Oh well, nice find tomcat

See this page ( maybe it doesn't contain them all, but some tunes iirc ( seem to have listened them in the past and with sidplay ) are not new )

The SID tunes will surely appear in the next release of the HVSC. Just wait ;)

Sonic is a nice composer!

I don't like it at all... (the sid's are quite ok though)
--- sorry @smash-design :( ---

I prefer the first two commercial parts...
Also i don't think a commercial "Katakis 2" project would be successful.

Interesting though their saying that Manfred Trenz would "definitely return to the C64" if the project took off. In a manner of speaking though, he'd already done an unofficial sequel to Katakis in "Enforcer" ,as mentioned on the C64 GTW site.

tsk tsk, defining if a game is lame or not by trying it in a lameulator. Then again, I didn't expect better.

The Manfred Trenz thing was definitely interesting. If only to see what the old man can do today, I'll vote an enthusiastic YES ;)

I'd also like to see him involved in other platforms. How would Turrican be on the amiga if directly handled by him?

Is it due to my CCS emulator or is that game really lame? The collision detection is bad and whenever I want to go left, the game pauses, no matter what keys I define.

I don't have a c64 with floppy and i tried with vice 1.14 ( just downloading 1.15 ), but the collision wasn't that good too ( especially with 3 and 5 ways shoot ) as i wrote before.

Also comes to mind that when i jump and i keep up pressed while jumping, turrican seems to fly ;) ( not in the 4th level, but in the first 2 ).

Anyway i like the game.

"Nothing beats the real thing!" ,of course, right m8? ;) :D
Which Turrican do you mean though? If I recall the Zzap! preview on Turrican II, it mentioned Manfred Trenz having a great deal to do with Turrican 1's conversion to the Amiga-but less so for the sequel due to deadlines & completing the C64 sequel.
