Is there a version of Trivial Pursuit on the Amiga which is like the C64 version? The only Amiga version I have seen is some crappy excuse for a game where your in space. The C64 version is much better than that. Surely the C64 version made it to the Amiga? Is the version I'm talking about called the Genus Edition? In the C64 version a little guy asks you the questions in a nice living room which changes each time he enters it. He plays music on the HiFi system and dances as well. It was great on the C64. :)

Yes as the version that came free with my A600HD was like the one you said the C64 looked like.

I did not know there were a different version like this.

On my version it starts with a man in a living room and the disk also had a rubbish word processor included. Also, I later found out when the little guy speaks it was some counting 123456789 speeded up.

I've found a picture of the Amiga version of Trivial Pursuits box and disks so it does definitely exist! Oh and I was right, the version I'm talking about is Trivial Pursuit: Genus Edition. Is this version of the game a rarety because I have seen it absolutely NOWHERE on the Internet. :(

Yes, it's got to be Genius edition. I have a preview of it in my Commodore Computing INternational, (somewhere in 1989, I think September :P) and I saw a picture, with a fat guy asking a question in a nice living room.

Will post a scan tonight or tomorrow morning :)

Just for some info sake-there were at least 3 Trivial Pursuit games on the C64 that I know of,(I've got the original disks).

As has already been discussed & listed, there's the original Genus version, The "New Beginning" version refers to it being Genus 2 on the back of the game box. But there was also a "Baby Boomer's" edition on the C64, though I don't know if there ever was an Amiga version. It plays exactly the same as the Genus version with the room & the Dartboard-except the questions are impossible if you aren't a baby boomer!!:)

Genus II Edition? Where have you seen that version?

There is also these:
Trivial Pursuit CDTV (1991/Domark)
Trivial Pursuit CD³² (1994/Domark)

Although there is much talk about the C-64 version, there was also a coin-op version of the game, although I haven't done any research into whether these versions are related, I just have it in my notes.

Well all the versions I have seen are Trivial Pursuit: A New Beginning.

Genus II Edition? Where have you seen that version?

Twist, Steve,

I just downloaded the version from PE2000 and now I can safely say:

Genus II = A new beginning.

Yes. If you boot the PE2000 version, there's the intro screen steve first posted: 'A new beginning'.
BUT if you wait until you can enter the player names (with the six "knobs" on the right side, you can read 'Genus II' (turned 90 degrees)).
So it's evident that Genus II is identical to 'A new beginning'.

I have been playing Trivial Pursuit Genus Edition with winfellow and if I remember correctly it looks identical except.

1. My version was not bootable.
2. It had to be installed to HD which also gives you a free naff word-processor.
3. It is on 2 disks instead of 1. and
4. It had more question seets than the one I downloaded from ADF-ZONE.

So I think it's safe to say the main versions are thus:

Trivial Pursuit - Genus Edition
Trivial Pursuit - A New Beginning (Trivial Pursuit II if you like)
Trivial Pursuit - Genus Edition (A600HD version)

Thanks for clearing that up guys. One more thing though. Why does the guy in Trivial Pursuit - Genus Edition look like something thats been struck by lightning five times over. He looks a bit worse for wear to say the least. I expected him to look like the guy off the C64 version and the New Beginning version as well. Oh well. :)

Wow. I can't believe it, yet another different screenshot of Trivial Pursuit. The background looks similar but the guy looks a lot different to the Amiga version of TP: Genus Edition. It must be a version from a different platform. AtariST maybe? Does anyone know?

Also I noticed they've called it Trivial Pursuit: Genius Edition when it's correct name is GENUS Edition. Lol :)

Was their ever an AGA version? Thats could be another option why Akiras looks different.

Here is a pic to compare

What about it _not_ being the CD32 version? My scan is from a mag dated SEPTEMBER 1989 :D (Commodore Computing International magazine)

I think that's the screenshot of the Amiga version, prolly a very early one, or a beta version. Who knows! What a puzzle :)

CDTV version anyone?

Oh I have another crazy idea... could it be that each version had its own personalized character (á la Little Computer People)?

Steve

So much for it being the CD32 version then. Was there a PC version? It could be that. Was the CDTV even around in 1989?? As for each version being personalised (LCP style) I highly doubt it. The only thing I can think of is that it must be a PC version although I don't know if it was even on the PeeCee. :(

Another mystery solved! Now let's all head back to the camper van and we'll munch on some scooby snacks. :)

PS.
I was right first time round!! :D

PPS.
Some great links there to the PC version. Thanx Paul. :)
I'll have to find out what the game's like and then I might buy it.

@Steve

While I was at it with the Education programs I also imaged Trivial Pursuit - Genus Edition (A600HD version) that you wanted.

The 2 Disks are in the zone.

I thought I do them in case my A600HD dies again.

Paul, maybe now is the time to find a A1200 to replace the dying 600 ;) I seem to recall some vendors even have an A1200 Tower configuration.

Yup. I also own the CD32 version of Trivial Pursuit and it is one of the best versions I've played. Lot's and lot's of speech and animations and loads of questions. It's quite funny too. Thankfully that duck thing doesn't get too annoying.
