View Full Version : What do you think the most important missing CAPS title?
I guess it would probably be a famous game where the game saved the high score table to the disk. Lots of people have the originals, not many people have the unmodified version.
Or perhaps a game which had different versions?
Any titles spring to mind?
Alex
Nice thread. :)
My personal opinion: The Great Giana Sisters we have been looking for since the beginning, around 8 versions have been found, but all modified. Since it was only sold for 2 weeks in most countries, it is proving very difficult to find.
I sure there are plenty of others.
Début, because we have done and released the scans, but the only copy we have found is modified. Quite a rare game it seems. :(
Robocop, because it is such a classic! Unfortunately the original does not contain any integrity information, so we need alternates to confirm the one we have is good.
Stardust, a very nice alternative game to Super Stardust. It is rumored to have been duplicated on Amiga's, though it was most certainly sold in shops, so we are not really sure if this is correct or not. More alternates definately needed to confirm it, especially since the copies we have got were not written on the same machine!
Anyway, that is the end of my wish list :)
The Halley Project, saves progress on disk and it is a fairly early game.

This sounds like a title that a lot of people might have, but perhaps has been overlooked as TOO popular and bound to have been dumped?
I dont remember the Amiga game very much, but I seem to remember it had a great intro, good music, speech and the in game sucked ass :)
Heh, I quite liked it actually - found it too bloody hard though :) But my memory is hazy as it was one of only few games I actually got to play around that time (1988-90).
Actually, this game has been done, but not the original retail version, which is quite important IMO. I guess the problem is that people see it on the games page (http://www.caps-project.org/games.php?viewa%5B%5D=1&viewa%5B%5D=2&viewa%5B%5D=4&viewa%5B%5D=16&viewa%5B%5D=8&viewa%5B%5D=64&search=robocop&nametype=0&type=0&stype=0) and assume it has been done, but we only have compilation and budget versions.

Then tell a white lie !
Remove it for a few months from the list :p
I bet ya things will start movin' ;)

As I already told Christian "ville9" I have nealry 80% of your MOST WANTED games in my collection. Some are even still shrinked (Balance of Power 1st Edition)...
Unfortunately I haven't yet managed to DUMP. However I will post them to him in the next weeks or pay him a visit the time he has vacation from university...
Keep up the good work :-)
Olli K:
Another game not dumped that I'd like to see preserved is "The Sentinel". The totally unique game by 3D guru Geoff Crammond.

I played this game for hours and hours on the old Amiga, the David Whittaker music is SOOOoooo haunting.
Too bad I lost my copy during a move :(
@Jim: If only we could...
@cebulba: Thats great, thanks very much! :D Some of the games seem to be just so hard to find!
@alexh:This game may have some Atari ST/PC formatted tracks, so it will likely be out when that is supported (if the dump we have is good anyway).
Do we need a dump of "Chaos Strikes Back", the expansion disk to Dungeon Master? I've dumped v2 of DM last week, but didnt notice until now that CSB isnt even on the list.

Ouch an IPF of Chaos Strikes Back, now that would kick ass! :bowdown
Chaos Strikes Back + all versions of Dungeon Master apart from v3.6 have an Atari-format protection track, so these games will come out once there is Atari/PC format support.

The original Stardust would be nice, it was released in the shops too. Also, All Terrain Racing, I haven't been able to get my version working. Also, Might & Magic III, a good game - but I suppose it is available on the PC.
Robocop was a good game, I remember buying this a long time ago. Damn ED209..but a good game. Yeah, it was difficult...wish I never sold it now.
