:confused I have again a question ala Jack N. Golf:
The Head Coach from the adf zone is:
Head Coach = Pro Football Simulator by John B. Saxon (pub. by MicroSearch), dated 1987. I could'n find any info on version.
On BTTR I checked for year etc. and they have 2 entries:
Head Coach Football / John b. Saxon / 1989
&
Professional Football Simulator / John B. Saxon / 1990
Cody wrote here: (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=709&highlight=Head+coach)
Professional Football Simulation = Head Coach V31b = Pro Football Simulation
And he is also searching for Head Coach V3 / Midnight Oil.
How many versions are there?
Can someone supply some info?

I am pressed for time right now, but sometime today or tonight, I will respond and try to make some semblance of order from the confusion of the Head Coach games. Also, I have updated the info I posted yesterday on the Jack Nicklaus games, so I will post that then, as well.

OK, here is the info I have.
The first version of this game that I am aware of is called:
Head Coach - Pro Football Simulation
and was published by MicroSearch Inc. in 1987 and was written by John B. Saxon. A somewhat crude affair, but compelling enough for fans of gridiron action.
This version was followed up in 1989 with a new publisher, Midnight Oil under the name:
Head Coach - Professional Football Simulation v2.0
Then, in 1991, the final (AFAIK) version was released on the Amiga:
Head Coach - Professional Football Simulation v3.1
and the publishing was back to MicroSearch. I believe this company (based out of Houston, Texas) to be Saxon himself. My guess is that MicroSearch was the US publisher and that Saxon sold publishing rights to Midnight Oil for Europe. That being the case, MicroSearch probably released all 3 in the USA and Midnight Oil publsihed at least 2.0 and 3.1 in Europe.

I remember buying Headcoach 3 on the Amiga, I seem to remember it was mail order from Midnight Oil.
The details on the front of the manual (I'll see if i can get some scans) are:
"HEAD COACH v3"
CODA SOFTWARE
Author C.S. Adams
I've uploaded an .adf of it here - http://scum.hoo-yah.co.uk/headcoach3.zip

Interesting...can't wait to get home and check this out. It's hard to imagine a US football game being written by a UK company, but perhaps they licnesed the source code and modified it to their liking? Who knows. Glad you brought this one back up again, especially with an adf to go along with it.

Forgot to mention that I had a friend that also had Head Coach 3 on the Atari ST, and a quick search of the Little Green Desktop comes up with this entry which has the year of release down as 1988.

Also looks like there was a version for the Amstrad PCW too.
