What have I done!! I've just realised this is a real tough one. I love them all. Westwood for Eye of the Beholder and Dune 2. Sensible for SWOS and Bullfrog for Theme Park. Noooooo. Doh. :)

I love SWOS and Cannon Fodder too much! I do forgive them for the utter shit that was Sensible Golf. Lol.

I voted Team-17 as they did design some good games. E.g. Alien Bread 2.
I would have voted for CORE if it was on the list as they created chuckrock 2 - son of chuck, one of my favorite games.

I didn't like Team 17 as much when they refused to acknowledge the existence of Amiga Power, following some low marks (and high marks too) for their games. They believed Amiga Power had something against them.

Westwood Studios for Dune & Lands Of Lore :)

Never played the first part, but Dune II was asome and the first (good game) of its kind.
But it sure was annoying that you had to klick on every single vehicle whenever you wanted your arsenal to move somewhere ;)
That was the only main advantage of C&C IMHO

Difficult one this as they have all had there hits and misses. The Bitmap Brothers had more hits than misses though (although I don;t remember Westwood producing enough for the Amiga to be included - please correct me if I am wrong). So I think they just about get it for me.
They craeted the first really good shooter on the Amiga, Xenon 1. Did one of the best sports games ever, Speedball 2 (Speedball 1 was good when it first came out). Gods was one of the better platform games that was rarely bettered on the Amiga. Xenon 2 was also a very good game at the time, but now I don't like it. Magic Pockets was also a fair game at the time, seems a bit shit now though!:)

How could I forget Factor 5! They are in my opinion the creators of the best platform shmup on the Amiga of all time! Of course I mean Turrican 2. The first and last in the series were corking games too!:) :)

Ohh yeah, Factor 5 and Kaiko? Their combined output f gaems is of high quality!

System 3...did they make "Flimbo's Quest" and the very cool "Myth?"
Myth was an absolute classic.:)

If I had to choose my favourite list of softwarehouses this would be my top 4:
1: Bitmap bros/ Renegade: I do no know what exactly the connection is between both companies but they have produced many classics: Ruff 'n' Tumble, Uridium2, Chaos Engine, Gods and so on.
2: Psygnosis: Ask anyone to mention an Amiga game and he/ she would possibly come up with a Psygnosis title. Shadow of the Beast, Lemmings, Agony to name a few. I have to admit only a few development teams are responsible for these classic titles: DMA Design, Reflections, Travellers Tales and WJS Design.
3: Gremlin: I think they are the company who have produced most titles for Amiga. Their list of games consist of some bad titles (err.. Video Kid?) but generally they are good (Zool, Lotus, Disposable Hero, Switchblade).
4: Core Design: Before they turned into Lara Crof Inc. they produced some really amazing titles on Amiga in almost every genre. Their games had great animated intros, graphics and dito playability. Remember Jaguar XJ220, Premiere, Rick Dangerous, Heimdall, Wolfchild or Corporation?
I am not sure about System 3 being a great company on Amiga; they were higly succesful with the Last Ninja series and Turbo Charge on C64 but on the Amiga it was many times a hit'n'miss affair. After they had produced Putty and the 'forthcoming' Putty Squad they were really good at producing Amiga games but then they left the Amiga scene..

Oddly, I just can't attach a name to a favorite software house at the moment. There were many good companies, most of which have been mentioned. I also liked some of the sleeper companies, like Kingsoft, Alternative and Zeppelin even if (or because) they produced simple grade-B titles and I think these are cool.
Some notes on above comments: yes, everybody's fav list has Psygnosis titles, but by the same token, every Top 10 Worst Games list is littered with bad Psygnosis games, as well.
And Gremlin, who carved their 16-bit niche on the ST and then shifted over to the Amiga (with grace, I might add) - you didn't like Videokid? I thought that was a cool game. It was a game that I never played as much as I wanted to because when it was released, so were a lot of other big titles and I vowed to return to play it in more depth. I think it got overshadowed by the released of Mega Twins at the same time. But every time I did play it, I recall being quite impressed.

Yep. As well as the Last Ninja games, Fuzzball, and a few others

What I know about Gremlin is that it was a fairly old company who already produced classics like Bouncer on C64. I did not know Gremlin started on the ST as first 16-bit platform.
Of all Gremlin games I own I find Videokid the most 'irritating'. Mainly because I am not good at playing it; -I still haven't managed to finish Level 2:Western world. The main character of the game also has an annoying habit: everytime you start with a new life it cries "No Sweat". -irritating.:p
Hmm, now I come to think of it: the worst Gremlin game of all time has to be Artura produced in 1989. I do not know whether an Amiga version exists.

Doh. I knew I'd left some developers out. I've tried to edit the poll to add the other developers you've all mentioned but it says I don't have permission to edit the poll?? What's going on here????

I voted Bitmap brothers. It was a tough choice to make though, but I guess the decision was made by the fact that all BB games I've tried I've liked. I haven't played one I didn't like as is the case with the other companies mentioned.
I've played Myst shortly (I saw you mentioned it), and thought it played like a good game, but there was 1 very annoying thing at least about the version I had. I have no idea how to complete a level. No idea whatsoever.

Tough one....
I loved Team 17's smaller, "budget" style games such as Alien Breed 92, F17 Challenge, and Project-X - absolute bargins, especially as they were often tweaked and improved before being re-released.
I don't actually like football, so well done to Sensible Software for making me play Sensi Soccer 1.1 for years and years :) Great game; the only football game I have enjoyed, ever.
I quite liked some of Sierra's quest series of games, even if they were mainly PC shovelware.
And Microprose also produced quite a few classic games - although they weren't as instantly accessible as most, games like F1GP and Gunship 2000 are surely amongst the best available.
Decisions, decisions..... :)

Reengade was a publisher, Bitmap Bros. was/(is?) a gaems developer.
Renegade published a lot of famous Amiga games, like Sensible World of Soccer and Ruff n Tumble.

I won't vote, as I consider too hard to choose my fav company for Amiga...
EVERY game I played from Team 17 for me was great... the same with Bitmap Brothers....
and then, you have Sensible Software , other softco who only developed games that deservers ratings of +90% IMO.
I just't can't choose one... so I won't :-)
there's other developer team, who made just a few games, but I like their games a lot too.. Vectordean. Probably the most underrated team in the Amiga scene..

I'd say my first poll was pretty successfull. :)
I love to make people think hard and make tough decisions. :)
I'll think of some more cunning polls soon.

Magic Pockets, Fire and Ice and Gods, just to name a few of their gems.

But wasn't Fire and Ice done by Graftgold?

Absolutely right, Bombkjacker. I think Burge's mask doesn't let him see properly :D

In terms of usage of technology, I think Factor 5 & Team 17 would have to be pretty even.
I always regard it more so with Factor 5 as they were producing stuff that made use of Amiga gfx/sfx at a time when most were content to do ST/PC ports.
