View Full Version : Looking for this Tetris game fer years! CA$H for the one who finds it

Ok this will be a hard one, because it is a Tetris game, and there are millions of'em. The worse thing is, I think this game is called Tetris :>
Anyway, the game in question was released around 1988ish (perhaps earlier, perhaps one year later, not more), and I am looking for it, really. I never found it anywhere, I know for a fact it ain't on the net and prolly it ain't in anyone's colection (there is a slight chance that it is an argentinian game), so I'm mainly looking for information about it if anyone knows it (Publisher, release date, etc.)
Look at the pic attached, the game looks very similar to that Tetris. A prize for anybody that comes up with the game. I swear.
[Edit] Games that ARE NOT this one:
- Mirrorsoft's Tetris
- Tetren (PD, post 1990)
- Spectrum Holobyte's Tetris (but I heard there are two versions of this, one very rare)
- Twintris/Super Twintris
- Tetris / "Amiga Tetris" (Infogrames)
- Amiga Tetris 2
- Tetris Pro / "Cigar tetris" (2000 A.D.)
- Duotris
- Zaxk
- Super Tetris
- Tetrix
- Ditris
- Tetris Metallica
- Tetris III
- Super Caztri
- ProTris v1.0 (1993)(Mirage)
- Project T
- Coloris
- Final Tetris (megademo part)
- Avatris
- Digital Tetris
- Tetris (Gary Wheatly)
- Tetris +
- Tetris the Next Generation
- The Last Tetris
- Tetrys 95 (1995)(Crayon X)(AGA)(Fr)
- Power Tetris

Uhmmm, maybe TWINTRIS (SUPER TWINTRIS) came out 1990/91 (the original Tetris was 1988) and Super Twintris also was PD ?!?
just a guess ......

Akira,
Are you sure about the dual-playfield in the Tetris version you are looking for?
Here is a list of all Tetris-games on Amiga I know:
Tetris: Released in 1991 it is from the same creator of the original but it features 'upgraded' backgrounds. Maybe this is Tetris 2. It has all sorts of different Russian activities beautifully drawn like a fish-market and so on.
Duotris: This PD-game is released on C64 and Amiga in 1990. It has a dual playfield and the falling blocks have odd shapes;
H.. tris: The name of this clone is on the tip of my tongue. It is a German PD game with a dual playfield. The falling shapes are really strange: A block looking like a cross, a small single block, etc;
Tetracopy: Uhm. Not really a Tetris game. Just a copier like X-copy which let you play a simple version of Tetris while copying discs;
Zack: The Amiga reincarnation of the Arcade game 'Hatris. You must staple falling hats;
Super Tetris: I think this is the Spectrum Holobyte version. It has pictures of a Russian circus;
Zyconix: Released by Accolade towards the end of 1992, this is some sort of Tetris game looking very similar to the pics you have attached. I have never played it, though;

I´ll upload it to the ADFZone immediately (btw. it´s called TETRIS PRO) !

No, no.
This is a completely different game. It doesn't have a screen split in two with the Moscow tower on the left side and the playscreen on the right side.
Zyconix has the objects coming from above, which rotate around a horizontal axis (clockwise) when moving from top to bottom.

Oops.. It seemed my fuzzy memory threw up again. From the screenshots I have seen Zyconix looked like a Tetris clone. Sorry.
Akira
12 September 2001, 18:34
Twistin', yes, it is an arcade version. Atari Tetris. Emulated very well in MAME. Go to mame.dk and download it, it's the best tetris I ever played (second spot goes to GB tetris! :))
I am not clearly sure about the double playfield. At the worst case, imagine the game having only the bit on the left of my pic. But it has to look very similar to it!
I never saw Ditris, an upload would be apreciated!
I cant believe it's been 14 years since I started to look for this bastard :( Thanks everybody for your help.

It could be a Shareware game. Try http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/aminetbin/find?Tetris, or try http://www.funet.fi/pub/amiga/games/tetris/
Akira
15 September 2001, 17:29
Could be, but has to be pre-1990. I searched Aminet and found none that matches my criteria. Closest one is Tetren, but as I said, this aint the game.
Will keep looking. Today I will go to a meeting with some guys who are Amiga/Commodore users, they are bound to have lots of shite!
Let me revive this old thread because, as fedegaia, I have shitload of Amiga games, but I have NEVER EVER been able to recover this lost gem...
No new data on the game, all I said already is what's valid. Could be a PD game but, if it is PD, it surely is argentinian PD, and as thus I will need the help of any other argentinian (shit, I'm the only one here :P).
Help me revive my childhood! :D I'm putting a reward on this game's head now! Let me think what could it be...

Hehe...I actually think of this thread everytime I run across a Tetris game that I've never seen or heard of before. I just never find the time to check the game and compare it to this thread. Perhaps we can start with a list of all the Tetris games which this game is NOT.
I did this at the very beginning of the thread, but let's recapitulate, because all of the suggestions were not the game either:
Games that are NOT the Tetris I am looking for: (Last Updated: 2002.07.31)
- Mirrorsoft's Tetris (is there more than one version?)
- Tetren (PD thingie, post 1990)
- Spectrum Holobyte's Tetris (but I heard there are two versions of this, one very rare)
- Twintris / Super Twintris
- Amiga Tetris 2
- Duotris
- Zaxk
- Super Tetris
- Zyconix
- Tetris Pro
- Tetrix
- Ditris
- Tetris Metallica
- Super Caztri
Sorry for the unTOSEC names, I dont use TOSEC at all.
The game's name is probably Tetris something, or just plain Tetris (my bet). It featured a splitted screen, dunno about simultaneous 2 player action (never saw it running like that) but teh one player game happened on the leftmost part od teh screen, and something else was on the right (probably the stats, just like the arcade Atari version)
It's got to be near identical to the Atari Tetris arcade, I remember it like that and I have a very photographic memory :). Same russian theme, vertical split-screen. A friend of mine says that the usic is not like the Atari Tetris one, but a technoish remake of it.
That's all I know for now. Help me out! :D

24 July 2002, 12:46
I used to have a demo for a game back in the day that was called Tetrix Metallica...had the two player screen and all, but I think only the leftmost pane worked. It started with level 1, then jumped to a higher level, then an even higher level (that was ridiculously hard to beat). It was like shareware, since the author's address and fee was somewhere on the screen (I think after you lost or in the intro). It was a BRILLIANT game and I never could find a complete version. So I'm glad this thread reminded me to add this to my MIA, although I doubt I will EVER find a full version. I'll dig around and see if I still have the demo...I know I must have put it on one of my old compacts.

@Akira
I had a demo of a tetris game YEARS ago and it looked almost identical to the screenshots. Too bad I can't remember the name :(.
Konrad: At thsi point, a demo, or whatever it is related to this game, is most apreciated. if I can score the real name of the game, I can check with the local ex-spreaders to see who has it. but none of them fuckers remember the game by screens, but they remember names very well...
List of games that are not the one Ive been looking for updated with Tetris Metallica.

Well, he uploaded it to the zone and, if you have downloaded then you could guess why he is laughing.
I could not run the game because it freezes in WinUAE, but (being an AMOS game) i saw the ending screen (which is in italian) and ...
how can i say it ...
let's say that it features the "members" ;) of RamJam group (having been coded by one of them).
And i definitely guess it's not what you were searching :laugh
Well, I didnt know this :P Could you post a screenie or something? Since it is AMOS made I also doubt it is the one I'm looking for, but I'd like to add the name to the NO IT ISN'T! list :)

Hehe yes, there's your beans :D
Well ptrchiappe was complaining about this one not available anywhere, so I decided to dig into my private treasure chest once again...:D
And I laughed because no one might have thought that *I* actually have that rare one! :cheese
Besides, Super Caztri is from the NET! But this site doesn't exist anymore. It had something with 'retro' in the name (maybe retrogames.com in his ORIGINAL state?) and it was in Italian language.
BTW, here's a config that works on latest WinUAE.
List updated with that one ;)

31 July 2002, 08:56
@andreas: thanks for the config, i didn't have time to adjust my default config for A500.
You surely downloaded from retrogames.com because that was the site mentioned in the italian forum (by a certain Andreas_ICSE, is that you?).
Here is a pic for Akira, i won't translate the compliments given by the game for not finishing the level :D .
I also uploaded to the zone a zip with three ending pics of the game, if you want a translation just ask (but it shouldn't be too difficult for a spanish talking guy ;) ).

Of course I am, the screenshot I posted is from Atari Tetris, because the Amiga game i'm looking for looks EXACTLY like this one. EXACTLY like it!
I am looking for an Amiga game definitely. The game show was created by Amiga fanatics who painted the Amiga letters with black so it would stand out noticeably in front of the cameras ;D

Ignore me. The Infogrames 1989 release seems to be the same as Spectrum Holobyte's Tetris release. Weird! Must confirm this when I get home.

11 June 2003, 07:50
Yeah, I'm pretty sure Infogrames published this game everywhere but the US where we got the Spectrum Holobyte release. It's also a wretched version of the game...one of the worst I have ever played.
DrBong
11 June 2003, 08:14
@Twistin'
We got the Spectrum Holobyte release of Tetris here in Australia, so I gather Infogrames only published the game in Europe.
What puzzles me is the difference in publication years. In HOL the Spectrum Holobyte game is listed as published in 1991., whereas my boxed copy says
(c) 1987 and the Infogrames release is (c) 1989 IIRC.
Did Spectrum Holobyte release two versions of Tetris: The Soviet Challenge four years apart?
Also, why didn't Mirrorsoft (instead of Infogrames) publish all the Spectrum Holobyte releases of Tetris in Europe? After all, Mirrorsoft and Spectrum Holobyte were both owned by Robert Maxwell at the time.
Bloody confusing! :confused
I had the original disk for this very version. I believe it was 1986 or 1987 on the disk, red print. Found it in a second hand "bargain basement" in Blackpool, around 1991. I've since sold my drawer of Amiga games though.
I did try installing it with WHDLoad, but had some trouble if I recall. It did once work, but was temperamental.
I'm surprised you liked this version though, I hated it! Twintris was my favourite version for Amiga by a long way.
Edit: Now that I think about it some more, mine might have been the Mirrorsoft version. I might have the box still somewhere.
No that's not it. pLEASE look at the first pic I psted, the game I'm looking for looks EXACTLY like that one,. I'd say it's almost a carbon copy of the Atari Tetris arcade.

1991? I never noticed that date in there, but it *has* to be wrong, so I am glad you caught that. I have all of the Spectrum Holobyte originals (of Tetris games) and I am quite certain that version of Tetris was before 1991 (because I had it before 91).
According to my database, it was released in 1989. And my AKA is not "Tetris: The Soviet Challenge", but "Amiga Tetris". Whether it is accurate or not, I have Infogrames as the developer. I'll pull out my manuals tonight and verify it all, but as best as I can tell, the PC version came out maybe in 1987-ish? Judging by the horrendous Amiga version, it's a port from that godawful PC release. I posted a link to a Tetris info site some time back that was real informative about that game's curious history, but I don't remember it addressing specific release dates for various platforms.

I will say no. Again, I can see an 87/89 original version/Amiga version thing, but I've no idea where 1991 came from.

Indeed. Some of that is, I believe, addressed in that article. I am at work and don't have the time to check it, but here's that link again to that site:

YES! :)
And this should be changed in that HOL entry, too.
Whereas _I_ thought that 'Amiga Tetris' was just the name written on the menu bar at the top of the window, but not the actual game name. :rolleyes
But as you have the original, Twist: is 'Amiga Tetris' mentioned on the box?
Twistin'Ghost
14 June 2003, 06:19
Well, it seems my database was wrong, which is probably why I never entered this into HOL. The box calls the game simply TETRIS, but at the bottom just above the Spectrum Holobyte logo it does say The Soviet Challenge, although this is not with the title. The description on the back only calls it Tetris, as well as the box's spines. But The Soviet Challenge seems reasonable to differentiate the SH version. Apparently in my database, I used the t-bar for this alt title. Do we want to use this in HOL or stay where we are at?
The copyright info on the back of the box says:
Copyright© 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990 AcademySoft-ELORG. All rights reserved. TETRIS is a trademark

Well now...I would suspect, although I don't know if this is absolutely correct, that you are talking about the Tengen version of Tetris. Tengen was an off-shoot of Atari, so it would make sense that they would make computer versions of the Atari arcade machine. There were Nintendo lawsuit problems (check out the Tetris history on the net), and the Tengen versions got pulled from the shelves. That could have been what happened. So try a search for Tengen Tetris and see if you can come up with it. I'm not entirely sure that there was an Amiga version of it, but it might be what you are looking for.
I am aware of Tengen's Tetris, it's a fave of mne on the NES, but it doesn't look exactly like the arcade one, and it is not available on the Amiga. It barely made it to the NES, so..
Thanks for trying tho :)

Every time I find a new disk with Tris in the title, I fire it up in hopes that it might be the Tris-mas gift ye seek. The last one I booted was called ProTris. The date was 1993, but oh well. A part of me will play any Tetris variant, so I look.
By the time I got it to work using an A1200 config :rolleyes it turned out to be one of those Workbench Tetris games. The booting process takes forever since it appears to load a bunch of Beavis and Butthead samples into memory while you wait. Which was a lot easier to digest than having to listen to those samples played non-stop through the game. If that show amused you, then this game will probably have the same effect since the show and the game:
- both feature an overdone formula
- both are inferior to contemporaries on the market
- both are as inane as the adolesent wankers they are aimed at
I played one round of 13 levels, then retired it (which is more time than I have devoted to the B&B tv series). Graphically, it just looks like a med-res 4-color WB2.04 (stock) with nothing but the ProTris screen on top like any WB game. How I survived hearing those sound bytes for 13 levels is anybody's guess.
The filename ProTris v1.0 (1993)(Mirage)[h Pazza] also intrigued me, since Mirage is in the (Company) field. Probably not to be confused with the Mirage (http://hol.abime.net/get.list?N_ref_publisher=12) that gave us such classics as Street Hassle, Magiczna Ksiega, Co Do Grosza, and the ever popular American Poker.
No pic because I didn't want to get a demerit N O CA$H FOR J00! from Akira. :)
That and the fact that Windows gave me a swapfile crash when I tried grabbing the final screen of my ProTris game. :rolleyes
N O CA$H FOR J00!
;D
I think that by the looks of things, this must be some mega-rare, argentinian game. The fact that it was a BRILLIANT conversion, makes it even more impressive (a GOOD argentinian AMIGA GAME? yer!)
So I think I'll have to start looking locally instead of around the world.
The CA$H prize is still available for anyone who finds it before me !

Also released in Australia. However, in Europe, Infogrames released it as Tetris just to confuse matters :rolleyes I got my copy from Germany and only realised recently it was the same as Tetris: SC when the WHD installer was released.
@Akira
Whilst you're at it, you might as well put Super Twintris ( [url=http://www.juegomania.org/emuladores/amiga/super_twintris.html[/url) on the NOT list.

Cool. You might want to fix this in the HOL entry, better: provide some scans for the European version! :spin
Because this is commonly (not to say quaintly) referred as 'Amiga Tetris', I've now included the term (hidden) in the database, so that people looking for that don't get trapped...
(Left that publisher bit to you though :D)

Final Tetris by TCB
Didn't notice if this one was mentioned yet.
Only problem is the date, 1992. Otherwise it looks similar in-game.
Find it on the "Connection Megademo" disk in TOSEC.

hello.
just for info...I don't know this game for AMIGA but...
I found an advertisement of the ATARI version your pics showing:
ATARI Tetris Advertisment Scan (http://www.carobinson.com/games/ATARI%20-%20TETRIS%201987-.jpg)
when taking a closer look at the text you can read the publisher as being: Andromeda software
Those guys also release "The Soviet Challenge" (mentioned several times in this thread).
Information on the ARCADE version can be found:
here (http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=T&game_id=10081)
maybe you can ask one of the ATARI community if this game has been released for ATARI ST or ATARI XL computers. Same company would have released it for AMIGA - if a full price product.
check:The ATARI museum (http://www.atarimuseum.com) - the ATARI game can also be found here...
greetings from Germany.

HM!!!!!!!!!!!
It might be man, not sure. Got to think about the ages but 1992 is near it. Ill have to try it out!!!!!!!! I think my 1988 assumption was wrng, cant remember the exact date of the show but I still think it preceded 1992 but so far this is the closest shot ever and I have high hopes for it.
Will keep you guys posted, and if it is, ca$$$$h for j00 KnucklesD!!!
Ok checked it out with my friend and we're still keeping our cash :(
This games looks closer to the original Atari Tetris arcade than the Amiga game we're looking for. Some more data that might help narrowing it down.
*The looks of the game we look for are exact or almost exact to those of Atari Tetris.
*The game is not part of a demo, it's a standalone game
*The scrolling down of the tetris blocks is smooth, like in SNES's Tetris Bombliss. The demopart posted by KnucklesD hops from position to position, just like the arcade game. The game we look for one-upped the arcade game in that respect.
*The music was more uptempo than the original arcade tetris music. It had no vocal samples, but it had a more " techy"/electronic feel to it.
*It was featured in an argentinian TV show dedicated mostly to the amiga. They had compos for it so there's a slight chance this is an argentinian developed game (far fetched, but I'm beginning to think so!)
Here's still hoping to get a video of the program where we saw the game. It's hard to find television archive material that old over here because a couple of video archives caught fire a bunch of years ago, so shitloads of things got lost.
Here's a list of games that ARE NOT what I'm looking for:
- Mirrorsoft's Tetris
- Tetren (PD, post 1990)
- Spectrum Holobyte's Tetris (but I heard there are two versions of this, one very rare)
- Twintris/Super Twintris
- Tetris / "Amiga Tetris" (Infogrames)
- Amiga Tetris 2
- Tetris Pro / "Cigar tetris" (2000 A.D.)
- Duotris
- Zaxk
- Super Tetris
- Tetrix
- Ditris
- Tetris Metallica
- Tetris III
- Super Caztri
- ProTris v1.0 (1993)(Mirage)
- Project T
- Coloris
- Final Tetris (megademo part)
- Avatris
- Digital Tetris
- Tetris (Gary Wheatly)
- Tetris +
- Tetris the Next Generation
- The Last Tetris
- Tetrys 95 (1995)(Crayon X)(AGA)(Fr)
- Power Tetris
Cheers to all who contributed!

Since there seems to be an awful lot of interest in tetris games, I've uploaded a 2 disk compilation of (PD) tetris games that I made over a decade ago to the Zone.
Included are: Obsess-o-matic 1.0; Quattro; AHextris; T90; Welltrix; Tetrix; Tertis; Super Twintris; DTris; Legotris; Tritris
From memory each disk autoboots.
Have fun people...

I know this probably will not help you a singel bit, but I am pretty sure (60%) that i have seen this game before. Infact, after reading your now 3 page long quest, i took down my old a500 from the attic and checked all my disks. But unfortunately i did not find what i was looking for.
Why do I think we are talking about the same game: Because I have never tried the real version (arcademachine), and a couple of monts back i was fiddling with MAME, and when playing the version you describes on first page and i recalled it as the same game i had for the amgia.
I was pretty active around 1989-1990, so the date almost match. I may remembering totaly wrong here but: I recall the game without any crack intros, or just maybe an simpel boot intro. Then a "long" period with totally black screen, and then the screen of the tower on page 1, but with different colours. More like a "real" picture. And not the grey bricks around. But the playfield was exactly the same as the picture, and they had the man coming out of the doors (when completing levels?)
I think i played it just a couple of times...
Was disk-swapping a lot (...yes, i know..shame on me...) with only norwegians and swedes (maybe some finns), so the game must have been up here in the north, and probably is not only an Argentinian game.
I recall it as a mediocre game, so the distribution of it is probably limited. But I would have added Scandianavia to my global area-search list...:)

I have two disks:
The first is Amiga Tetris V 1.1
The other is a compilation called Tetris Mania and has the following titles:
Tetrix Metallica
Blockout
Tetris II
Tetris
Quattro
Tetrix
Yatc
Tetris IV
I think none of this is the right one, but in case someone need to test I'll put them at The Zone.
Akira, the next thing I'll do is contacting an old friend tha has or had a big, really big collection.
Akira
22 September 2004, 17:27
Tetris Mania has ben checked already, these names should be in the NOT list, if not, I'll add them.
I think looking in some argentinian guy's disk collection would be more productive, this shit is definitely NOT TOSEC'ed otherwise it would have surfaced already. Also there's a very slight chance that the game has been produced in Argentina, since it surprises me that NO ONE has been able to land even near close to a clue about the game (except haakon)

Akira, I think at a certain point in a man's life he has to realise that sometimes to win is to know when to give up. No doubt if ever you find this "mythical" disk your will be dissapointed by the game as it won't be quite as good/cool as you remembered. Besides, I think after all this time you have as much chance of finding this as Riki/his sister/the bad guy from Riki-Oh/The Story Of Riki has of winning an Oscar for best acting. :lol

it is with heartfelt commotion and sad disposition that we at Moskow Institute for Mind Feebled annonce the departure of long time member Akira. The poor sod was found in his cell crushed by huge colored bricks that fell out from a plane cargo registered to the LEGO company that was bringin materials for the new LEGO park soon to be opened next to the Rodina swamps. the inexplicable cheering smug on the corpse face has convinced the direction of the hospital in performing an autopsy on the body that giving the little budget of the institution for hospital' instrumentation will be kind of rough, provided that the rusted cutlass not will remain stuck on the sternum.
the direction of the LEGO park has generously conceded the burying of the salm next on a LEGO statue picturing the american piano player Liberace.

The game is 'Tetren' isn't it? Almost the same as the coin-op version, 2 players could compete each other at the same time.
Am currently trying to get hold of a copy - reason for stumbling upon this website after Google search.
Tetren, as far as I can remember, was not available on general release. I bought mine through one of the adverts in one of the Amiga mags (along with Crazy Sue) - cost around £3 a disk back then (public domain games?) My copy doesn't work now unfortunately - the best Tetris game out there!

Short: Very original and popular Tetris clone
Author: Andy Whiteley
Uploader: Andy@wwhse.demon.co.uk (Andy Whiteley)
Type: game/think
This version is compatible with all Amigas. There are over 25 original
and taxing levels for one or two players. Based on the arcade version of
Tetris, you must complete each level before proceeding to the next. As
you progress, the levels become more difficult and things begin to happen.
The game includes great SFX and GFX as well as 8 original and addictive
tunes to play to.
This file can either be unpacked onto an installed floopy disk called
'TETREN:' or onto your hard-disk drive, so long as you assign 'TETREN:'
to the relevant path.

I made a port of my networked Tetris clone for the Swedish Compis computer about that time, but without networking of course. It had a brown frame around the playing area, basic graphics (just built out of 8x8 blocks in different colors) and for each level cleared, an extra line of garbage to be cleared was added at the bottom.
My original Compis version was called Fetris, so the Amiga version should have been called the same. Don't have the disk anymore, so I would be interested if someone has it.
Ring a bell?

Thought I'd look through my TOSEC + Non-TOSEC collection for games that sounded Tetris / Twintris like (minus games listed in Akira's post #154 (http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=369325&postcount=154)). Tried these ones but unfortunately they turned out to be nothing like the description :sad
... Atomic Tetris
... Giger-Tetris (1993)(Panic Production)(AGA)(PD)
... Ultimate Gameboy Simulator, The - Tetris (1992)(Symbiosis)(PD)
These ones sounded promising but couldn't get them to load:

... Tetriz v1.3 (1991)(Vigdal, Edgar)(PD)[h ALE]

Think of the year 1992, 2Unlimited sort of cheesy thang.
*It was featured in an argentinian TV show dedicated mostly to the Amiga. Show in question was called "El Cerebro Magico"and it aired at Channel 2 from La Plata around 1990/92. They had compos for this game, and there's a slight chance this is an argentinian developed game (far fetched, but I'm beginning to think so!)
We're looking for any leads. So far 2 guys in here have a slight memory of having played it or seen it. It would be most helpful to grab footage from this TV show, as to prove the existance of the game and better consistent evidnce (games were shown full-screen on gameplay when they ran the compos)
WE ARE OFFERING A REWARD FOR THE LOCATION OF THIS GAME

The wage for finding this game will be of ONE DOLLAR per MONTH MISSING since the request started at EAB. Additional information on the game will be paid for, but differently (screenshots, magazine shots, and specially, a video of the TV show in question)
So we're up to 72 US dollars so far.

I don't actually have this CD plus unable to find it in the "usual" places but here's somebody comments regarding the content:
I was disappointed to find out that we pretty much had all the tetris's that were on the CD. In fact the CD says that the contents of the CD were previously released on Public Domain. What would of been worthwhile is if the games on the CD were not shareware but the full games.
The CD cost me $15.00 USD and we did get like 8 games that we didn't see on Aminet, so that's something anyway. There's about 70 tetris's for the Amiga on the CD, and I'm not sure about how many different Tetris's for the PC are on the CD.

That's a tremendous lie.
First off, seems people are blind. The Tetris I look for looks EXACTLY EQUAL TO ATARI TETRIS FOR ARCADES. I've been shown only clone after clone of Tetris, none similar to Atari Tetris (with the only exception maybe being Tetren)
Now, teh list got updated later, in a newer post, not in the main page. I can copy and paste that data to the first post.

A dollar a month? Come on, this is now a multi-national gamehunt. You are going to have to raise the bounty on that sucker to find him!
Also, I could make a dollar a month brushing my teeth! You need to make this worth the while! (just kiddin) I sympathise with your hunt for this, I know what its like. There are still games that I can't find for the life of me and it hurts.
Out of interest, why was it so good? I like tetris but not enough for a search of this scale.

Whatever.
I live in fucking south america so no raise.
And even if I offered 100 a month, no one will find it, I bet.
Yes, it was the best Tetris port to any system. Second place is for Gameboy Tetris and third is for Tengen Tetris on the NES.
It was so good because it was exactly like the arcade version, which is the best one.

So, Akira. You seem, um... Very desperate to say the least.

... If you're open-minded.
mr_0rga5m
20 May 2010, 13:08
With the bounty being offered (still?) it would probably work out easier and cheaper to pay somebody to code the game from your memories. You may even be able to shareware/sell the game and make the money back. :)
It seems so. At this point I am pretty confused about this.
The Bounty is best cancelled, I NEVR thought this would extend for so long and am not rich :P
Hypnotherapy could work! Haha
wanderer
20 May 2010, 23:15
Please don't cancel the bounty. Personally I can't help, but it has acquired legendary status. Do not give up!
Did you sum up how much it would be now? xD
At this point two possibilities remain:
1 - My mind is fuzzy and I don't clearly remember/made up a bunch of the description.
2 - This is a game developed in Argentina and has been lost in the diskettes of that cancelled show and/or the Valente Computación people. This possibility is very dim, we had no Amiga coding scene and whatever little we might have had was some lousy coder re-cracking games that came from abroad (but this was more common on C64, I didn't see argentinian Amiga recracks)
As I said, I would gladly welcome video proof of this game, but for the life of me I couldn't find ANY tapes of this show. It seems to have vanished in the channel's last archive fire :(
This is month 104th of search! :O

You could try searching into local newspaper/magazine ads, for people selling out their Amigas and disk collections.
Another option is to contact directly the tv station for old recordings. Better yet, if you know someone working in the tv station since they generally do not give such material to the public. (edit: just saw the fire bit...)
Furthermore, you could try discovering the names of the show's creators/presenters and contact them directly for help. I know I would do that. Sounds impossible, but life's full of surprises...
I did contact the PRODUCERS and CREATORS of this show and the response was negative. I also contacted someone working as a tech during that show. nothing surfaced, he does have one tape with the ending credits for the show, this video can be seen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFTvXIv53WU
As yu can see this tape was already in a very bad state. He doens't have the rest of the show. I asked.
To be honest I have no will to invest this much energy in a stinking game. Looking around for disks and stuff... besides I bet most of the local collectors already have everything that was out there.
May it be lost forever!
Akira, I saw this and thought of you ;)

I don't think you're remembering it wrong Akira. I remember playing this game as well. I remember the little guy popping out of the doors. I think it happened after you got a Tetris. I also remember it being one of the best ports of Tetris I'd ever played at the time .
I had an Amiga and actively used it from 89-95. We used to import a lot of games (I live in the US) and my dad also downloaded a lot of Shareware from BBSs, so I don't remember where it came from or whether it was Shareware or not.
Don't give up man, there are tons of people on the internet that love mysteries like this. If it exists, it will be found someday. I'm going to ask my dad, though I doubt he'll remember it.

Sure I am blunt, but those games listed were already in the list of discarded items. it's not worth peoples time to go through these :/
What I am trying to clarify now is that someone had posted pictures from a computer version and the disk image is not appearing. This is stressful! The guy who posted that list posted these screens and not the disk image of the game where he took the screens from. I am asking him to PLEASE post the disk image if the game that created those screenshots. It is exactly what I am looking for so if the image is posted he got himself a mighty reward.

Sorry to disappoint Akira, but I'm pretty sure it's not the Tetris you are after, unless you really have confused it with the arcade version over the years and misremembered what it was like.... A minute's googling shows Mirrorsoft got the official Tetris licence apparently, and published the game in 1987. It's on HoL here; http://hol.abime.net/1358
And it can be downloaded as an .adf here...
http://www.thegamearchives.com/?val=0_2_1_0_0_9_59363_0_0_0_0
Or as a WHD Install here;
http://www.whdownload.com/games.php?name=a&sort=0&dir=0&search=tetris&searchButton=Search
It works under the default A500 settings in WinUAE and I'm sorry to say, there's not only no little men popping out, but it's a really poo conversion, sorry!

Sure I am blunt, but those games listed were already in the list of discarded items. it's not worth peoples time to go through these :/

As for the image, it was an Arcade game. It was ran off a MAME emulator. Sorry, just got back home so couldn't post this earlier. Ill post the image anyway though, if you want to check it out. Hopefully this helps.
