First a little bit cleaning was necessary to start again :)

all users who did not log during the last year where removed,
all users who did not log during the last two months and who have less then 10 posts where removed,
all banned users were unbanned,
all moderator status are gone, (any active EAB2 moderator can renew his status by sending me a PM)
all private forum accesses are gone, (any active EAB2 special access can renew his status by sending me a PM)
-> ~700 inactive users were delete !
-> The community has now ~500 Members, ~10.000 Threads and ~100.000 Posts


What's new ?

There is so much to say about this release that I won't write them all !
Anyway here are some important things

Fresh clean design
Three new Message Editor Interfaces (WYSIWYG, classic, light..)
One quick reply area at the end of each threads
New auto research of similar topics at the end of each threads
New buddy list / private messages interface
New reputation system
New Members List with HomePage / Posts / LastVisit / Reputation / Avatar
New attachement system integrated in control panel
Multiple attachement support, + thumbnail preview for uploaded pictures
The Zone was integrated in board, Files will now have one week of TTL
Irc channel overview integrated in board
Spider bot friendly
The abime.net News portal is integrated in EAB, anyone will be able to submit news (moderated)
etc...

As an active member, what I have to do ?

If you have problem to login, clean your old cookies and retry.
Open your Control Panel and check all the options !
-> update your Birth Date, Instant Messaging, TimeZone, Message Editor Interface...
-> clean your old attachments, private messages, buddy list...
-> You wanna access The Zone ? Click on Group Membership and join the "Access - The Zone" group. (+ you will have 10Mb of attachment storage)
Read the EAB FAQ and be ready to help me to setup one amiga FAQ! newbie will be redirected here, so we have to produce a nice FAQ ! :)
If you where moderator, send me a PM to confirm you still want to moderate, and precise me witch forums you want. (News, Zone, Off topic, etc..)
If you had access to one private forum, send me a PM to confirm that you still want to have access.

I miss the familiarity of the old board and the look too, but that's just a natural reaction, I have to give this new look time.

The new features are fantastic - the only thing that immediately struck me as being a step down from the old site is this new theme; it's way too bright! :cool I think the colours need toning down a touch for my poor eyes!

It looks good but it's a bit a step beyond IMHO.
The first page of v2 was far better to navigate, this seems quite a mess, I guess I have to come here frequently to improve myself! ;)
Too much things to describe here, but as a retro-gamer, I prefered the old style.

Incredible amount of new useful things that definitely reign over the "bad" (?) points of the new forum.
Three things I like best:

- the shrinkable layout; browser can be shrunk a lot but you still see everything; not this terrible fixed resolution thing lots of forums have as "special feature"
- the PM manager
- the HOL quicklink

Also kudos for delighting us with a highly professional forum solution that -- don't forget this guys! -- actually costs money.

Using post reply crashes IBrowse when clicking submit. there are vast areas of grey eg, this thread takes up about 15 times the height of my screen (768), a one line message takes up 2/3rds of the available screen space :(

Look at the three buttons below the Posts: XX line.
The middle one of them is the 'Add to reputation' button.
If you like some user more than others, you can add to his reputation.

Feels a bit like ebay :D

I supose like any new layout it take time getting used to however, I hope that it doesn't colapse on my real miggy also using Ibrowse in which case none of you would be able to read this would you? Guess the curse is due to live on particulary after that dispute in thread over certain sites being biased against non IE browsers it would be a shame if the EAB site was now emulators only. :eek

Ok it posts fine from my my set up 040/ppc using OS3.9 maybe the site doesn't like A1's? Or is this a subtle hint that since it's Sevrins birthday we haven't got him a suprise present?

But I will take care of that in the appropiate thread :rolleyes The woodmans verdict is :great this overhaul was needed to seperate this forum from it's old heavey overcoat look this is much more in keeping with a living forum, than the dusty archive the previous layout gave IMHO of course :)

Woody: It will look the same on IBrowse whether it is emulated, OS3.9 and IBrowse or OS4 and IBrowse, so basically any Amiga users on IBrowse. Although I am not suprised as IBrowse is highly uncompliant.

Have to agree....the lack of colour kinda takes the Amiga out of EAB if you use IBrowse 2.3 or AWeb 3.4 :( Same with the version for lighter browsers. Voyager 3.2+ provides a white background at least, but IBrowse is a far better browser. Haven't experienced any crashes thus far using IBrowse, which is a small blessing.....but clicking the submit button does seem to trigger a javascript error requester here after a delay. Clicking abort on the requester will submit the post. Voyager has no such problems with the submit button....weird!

Can't find it. Comment was by Enverex (or apparently directed at Enverex) I think, it was an insult or something (I love to watch a good fight ;) ) but I couldn't understand what the argument was about - the argument appeared from nowhere - kind of like the one above, i.e. in a normal mundande thread a big insult appears directed at apparently nobody in the thread !

BTW I'm so totally used to EAB 3 now. Still stick by my initial reaction on the bright colours but I'm SOOO loving the new features and layout, great work. :great As I've mentioned somewhere else, I'm posting so much more short responses because of these quick reply boxes. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad.

Still think pics should not register in the attachments limit or even be listed there - nothing more annoying than going to old posts and half the pictures are missing. Files and downloads of course, but pics. :mad Since we have thumbnails now, bandwidth can't be a concern as old threads only get read very rarely. If you have plenty of server space please consider this Rck (if it’s technically possible.) :)

Promise this is the last time I'll mention it. Well, until I start finding annoying absent pics. :)

For a post to be matched in a search for similar threads, it must have a score of a define number or greater, per searchable word. Scores are determined with one Algorithm based on:

I think similar threads works a lot with similar uncommon words.

using Voyager 3.3.126 w/ OS3.9 and latest WinUAE things look a little
different, and it keeps telling me there are javascript errors - all
say "expecting function" - but appart from that it seems fine :) and
it loads faster than Opera 7.5 or IE6 :cool no smileys though, so have
