Playing Zool 1

I am having trouble playing Zool 1 on my Amiga. I cannot finish the second level of the Music World (that is World 2 with the pink background colour).
In this level there is a section I cannot pass with my limited amount of energy: Zool has to find his way up while floating on some musical notes. Problem is these notes float you right into a spiked platform. Is there a way to pass this spiked platform?

It should be fairly easy to just jump on top of these notes - I'm quite sure this is the way forward. Anyway, here is a quick cheat: type "GOLDFISH" on the title screen (where Zool is hanging from the Zool sign), then you can press 1, 2, or 3 in game to become invincible, skip a level, or skip a world respectively. Hope this helps....
