Has anyone got this game working under WinUAE? On my setup it loads fine. Once it gets into the game though it appears to work at first. As soon as you Rev up the engine the game decides to go the way of the Guru. Has anyone had similar problems or managed to get this bugger to work.

Hi
I uploaded my version, which might be from PE2000.
Have no idea if this one works, but you could check it out.

I'll give it a go and see if this version works. Or if it's the same version as mine. I'll let you know in a couple of hours when I try it out. :)

Sorry I dunno that term ... what do you mean by "rev up"? :)
(BTW: Seems to be the same "rev up" like in "revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night" (Manfred Mann's Earthband: Blinded By The Light :)))
Eventually, some kind soul can tell me poor foreigner the meaning of that bloody line ... Nice to know. ;)

(no, this is NOT in the dictionaries I know of, btw)

I think he means boot up, start running by 'Rev up.' It's not that hard to work out when you think about it. :D

thanks, but I'd really like to know what it originates from, because it looks like some abbreviation :)

When someone says Rev Up, they're talking about revving up the engine. Increasing your RPMs (Revs per minute)

That's where it originates from. Cars :p

rev (rv) Informal
n.
A revolution, as of a motor.

v. revved, rev·ving, revs
v. tr.

To increase the speed of (a motor, for example): revved the engine.
To accelerate or increase: orders to rev up factory output.
To make livelier or more productive: revving ourselves up for the game; efforts to rev the economy.

v. intr.
To operate at an increased speed: heard the motors revving.
To accelerate in quantity or activity.

So 'rev' actually stands for REVolution, that's a tough one for me to guess because we in Germany would use "revolution" in political context ONLY.
TA MUCH GUYS! :cheese

As I said the game itself loads fine on the version I have at home but once you get inside the car and push forward or hit the firebutton to accelerate, the game crashes out every single time. Does this game work for you guys using WinUAE if so which version of WinUAE does it work on. :(

blame ME steve not THEM, I'm the culprit who asked this crap :p
even worse: you had better blame that f... Manfred Mann because he dared use this in one of his songs ... yes, OSTRACIZE HIM! :laugh

It's Ok Andreas to be curious about another language's strangeness. :)

Update: I've just tried the version of Days of Thunder posted in the ADF Zone. It has exactly the same problem when you push up on the joystick to accelerate the car the game crashes out. It must just be WinUAE. I've tried it on WinUAE 0.8.8. Oh well.

BINGO! It IS WinUAE. (Toni, read this :))

WinFellow works like a dream, try one of the latest 0.4.3 alpha snapshots.
The image is definitely O.K. :)

i'd just like to ressurect this thread, because almost 1 year later the game still doesn't work on winuae, which is suprising considering it's near perfection of late :)
