If I buy an Amiga 500 in the UK, will it work without problems in Spain?
Have Fun!

Yes. I think the UK, Spain and almost every other euro country that uses PAL, use the same kind of PAL. If you have a 1084 monitor, much better, since RGB cares for no video norm. SCART TV, same thing.
Power-wise there is no prob, both Spain and the UK use 220/240V voltage.
Suerte con tu compra colega :)

Gracias por tu respuesta :)
Can you tell me the most important differences between A500 and A600? (or a web page with the features of all Amiga models)
The RF lead of the A600 is used for plug the TV?
The workbench shipped with the A600 includes crossdos?
Can I modify a PC joystick for the A600?
Sorry for these (silly) questions but since I've discovered this board my only dream is to get an Amiga
Have Fun!
A500 started the rise of Amiga and the A600 started the fall of Amiga (Or at least accelerated it IMO).
Technical difference's are somewhat hard for me to remember (Alcohol really f*cks up one's memory), but the A600 use the later kickstart 2.*, obviously workbench 2.* and the ECS chipset as opposed to kick 1.3 and the OCS chipset of the A500, it was a lot smaller (Like a mini A1200 with no numerical keypad) and 1 meg of memory. Other than that I think they were the same, the A1200 and CD32 were the only different ones technically. (I don't include any big box amiga's in this statement BTW (A4000 and so on) as they were out of the reach of us mere mortals)

IanCharge almost nailed it (despite the level of alcohol in his blood :)). Other difefrences are that A600 has an in-built TV Modulator. If you dont have one on a 500 you wont be able to connect thru RF. Also, the A600 has a composite video (A/V) output, and the usual RGB video output.
It usually comes with Workbench 2.04/05, and this one doesnt bring CrossDos. Only WB3.0 (which you can't use) and 2.1 (which you can use :)) come with it.
About modifying a PC joystick, well, I have no clue. If you can do it on a 500 you can do it on a 600 as well, same joystick port. But PC joysticks are arse, you are better getting a real Amia joystick. eBay has many :)
I'm yet to try La Aventura Original on the miggy, I played it only on the C64. And theres also Risky Woods by Dinamic... Spain got a few jewels!
If you need further info, perhaps in spanish, just send me a private message :)
By the way, Ian, don't blame the A600 for Commodore's demise! They were completely fucked up beyond repair already before creating the A600. It's so underrated, it's a great machine :) They shouldn't have released the A500 PLus, that was a complete waste. Istead they should have released teh 600, giving plenty of time for the 1200s release. Stupid corporate pigs.
The A500+ was so painful for me my brain must have blanked out it's exsitance. It was a complete waste of time, I'm just glad I didn't sell my trusty A500 for one of those lemons. I did however sell it for a CD32 now that's ironic;)

Well, the CD32 is kind of neat. I preffer a CD32+SX1 module than getting an A1200.
As a matter of fact, what do you think I should get? an A1200 or a CD32 with an SX1 module ? (though I should go for one of those new SX32 modues that have an 040 inside)

A1200 without a doubt
I don't have a SX1 or SX32, but I do have a CD32 which I only use for games (it's primary intention)
I think the A1200 because anything new done by Amiga Inc/Eyetech/etc. is done either with the A1200 or A4000 (Sorry Akira. It's happening)

Sorry miggyboy, I dont care what Amiga Inc. do with anything :) What is happening actually, anyway? ;)
I thought about getting a CD32 to avoid that shtoopid need to emulate the CD32, in a feeble way. I'd get best of both worlds! :)
OF course, if I want to upgrade the machine, I'd get a 1200. But for games only, a CD32+SX module sounds fine. I won;'t use the machien as my everyday computer, I just cant work with it, so Im unloading teh cash on a MAc rather than on a ppc-powered Amiga. As far as Amiga upgrading goes, I'd get an 040@50 and that's yer lot (so I can play T-Zero :D)

The general jist of it all is, stuff is being developed right now for the A1200 and A4000. Then. They'll move away from this and develop for other stuff (no idea what. I haven't being paying alot of attention to the hardware side). There ya go. Updated :p

Excellent :) BUt as I said, sice I dont plan to use the miggy as my everyday computer, I don't care to upgrade above an 040. SX-32 modules come with an 040 accelerator, really nice stuff!
