Does anybody use StormC V4?

Is it any good? Haage&Partner are selling it for 49.95 euros.

I don't code on the Amiga at all, but just in case I have the need one day, I thought it might be worth getting.

Thoughts?

...and not C++, which sort of kills it for me. I bought Blitz years ago and did some stuff with it, but I've moved on since then. I can't do without my classes. And also I won't be able to write Tools for Bars&Pipes using Blitz.

Just get gcc. It is 49.95 cheaper than storm, updated regularly, and could compile a fairly complex C++ source written under VisualC++ without any hassle. That is very impressive imho for a free product.

And where would I get some form of Amiga SDK?

SDK headers are freely redistributable... at least they are upto 3.1 (however they might have been removed to squeeze money for them under the AI reign, but you can't change a license for years back anyway, so who cares). Since after 3.1 anything could have happened I have no word on 3.5 3.9 and 4.0 headers.

Anyway if you have a copy of DevPac, SAS/C, some CATS stuff, even some PD disks used to hold the required headers for the convenience of the people who wanted to develop for the miggy.
If you need atuodocs or something for devices, libraries etc, unless removed from public places like aminet recently (they were free) you can still find various rkm, devices, libraries editions out there.
And you won't find anything more detailed official C= stuff (upto 3.1) since they are normally the same you got from CATS.

One file I randomly downloaded contained the needed C/C++ headers, so it is safe to assume all versions that are not upgrades do.
I did not see the needed asm include files though, but if you are into C you won't need them, they are the same just for assembler, alternatively get DevPac or something like that and you'll have those as well.

I have no idea which version Ville9 uses, might not be there.

You might be better of with a decent (programming oriented) text editor and compiling, browsing bugs etc from there.
I am oldschool so I don't count, but CygnusED used to be very good for the purpose.
I think there are very good stuff out there in that field, worth a look around.
Afair StormC used to be a stolen version of Maxxon or something along those lines that's why they used to generate bit exact object code, possibly changed since then, maybe just a frontend to gcc, who knows...? Well, Ville9 does, but no sign of him yet

The NDK for AmigaOS 3.9 is still freely available - I know, this is amazing ;)

The versions of gcc that you find on Aminet are rather outdated...
You can download newer versions (including all needed C/C++ headers and linker libraries)
at ftp://ftp.geekgadgets.org/
Unfortunately, it's down at the moment, but I think there are some sites
mirroring the complete GeekGadgets environment...

The IDE is quite useable. But personally, I prefer GoldED AIX which nicely
integrates gcc in its newer versions - and I like editing Makefiles... ;)
